The W.A.V.E. of Excellence breaks down the expectations for each chapter within the fraternity & sorority community at Tulane University. Through the W.A.V.E. of Excellence Standards Accreditation program, chapters will have the ability to earn points for the programs they host and the administrative processes they manage throughout their chapter’s election year. In 2023, through collaboration with fraternity and sorority stakeholders, the W.A.V.E. of Excellence program was created to uplift and reflect the priorities of fraternities and sororities on today’s college campus.
This program focuses on the key values of Well-Being, Accountability, Values, and Empowerment while also allowing chapters to receive Riptide Bonus points for their innovative approach to our values. These categories were specifically chosen based on the values that fraternities and sororities at Tulane feel are reflected most in their community. These categories will determine the chapter standings for the following year and award eligibility for each organization.
Lastly, W A V E serves as an assessment tool to understand the full impact of the OFSP Community, areas of growth for our chapters, and opportunities for realignment This includes everything from the amount of community service and locations of philanthropic donations to the connections with International Headquarters and other organizations on campus. This was our first full year with the program, and we were able to learn a lot about the community and ways of strengthening reporting.

Through reflection and conversation, participants were invited to challenge harmful norms and embrace emotional well-being, vulnerability, and authentic connection.
Recruitment Efforts
Last year, we learned about some gaps in our recruitment efforts. This year, we hosted 'Going Greek: Unfiltered' to address the myths and rumors surrounding fraternities and sororities. OFSP EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
It’s been a busy year for the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Programs at Tulane. The OFSP team tackled major projects with determination and success. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our partners who have helped fortify and enhance our community this year. We're thrilled to witness the positive impact of the W.A.V.E. Standards of Excellence and the Gallup CliftonStrengths, both of which continued this year. This was the first full year of W.A.V.E. Standards of Excellence, so we were excited to gather feedback from students who submitted on behalf of their chapters for the first time. Gallup CliftonStrengths was also shared with our Council Leaders, Chapter Presidents, and Greek Ambassadors again this year for personal and community development.
A major focus for OFSP has been providing resources that foster student development. We developed single-sheet overviews of key officer positions with event/season-specific items. OFSP has significantly ramped up education and prevention efforts in hazing, sexual assault, and leadership development. This year, we launched the Event Monitor Training program to equip Event Monitors with the knowledge to manage safe events. Additionally, we renovated our National Hazing Prevention Programming to include a walkthrough exhibit on the ways to recognize, prevent, and report hazing. This program was so well attended we hosted a Healthy Relationships exhibit in April to help identify healthy relationships across different types.
Though this year was a very eventful year, we were able to learn a lot about the needs of our community. This summer, we have the opportunity to welcome a new team member before we begin planning for the 2025-2026 academic year.
See you next year!
