Memorial Day, the last Monday in May, is a holiday in the United States. It is meant as a day set aside to honor those who have died in our nation’s wars. It was formerly known as Decoration Day, as families would gather with flowers to decorate the graves of relatives killed in battle during the American Civil War. With the lovely weather expected this weekend, take some time with family and friends to attend one of the many Memorial Day events in the suburbs, and give thanks for those veterans who have given so much for all of us to live in this wonderful nation.
