Records broken as Green Flag Award names top parks in 2022
A record number of parks and green spaces across the UK reached the high standards required for a coveted Green Flag Award in 2022. The scheme is celebrating as 2208 parks – the largest number since the scheme began 26 years

Green space management charity, the Land Trust has announced the appointment of Alan Carter as its new Chief Executive Officer. Alan previously held the position of Director of Operations at the Land Trust and has worked for the organisation for 12 years. Prior to joining the Land Trust Alan, who is a qualified Chartered Surveyor, spent 13 years at British Waterways (now the Canal and River Trust) as Business Development Manager.Former CEO and founder of the Land Trust, Euan
Hall announced his retirement earlier this year following 18 years leading the charity since it was established in 2004. Alan Carter, CEO at the Land Trust commented: “I am delighted to have been appointed CEO and I am excited about working with our partners as the organisation continues to grow. “The Land Trust has such strong foundations and we can continue to develop our offering and ensure our charitable objectives are delivered across all of our sites.” Land Trust
