Originally established in 1926, Texas Southmost College currently offers the first two years toward a bachelor’s degree, along with career and technical education leading to certificates and associate degrees, college preparatory studies to prepare students for college-level work, workforce training, and continuing education. Recently selected as a Bright Spot by the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics, TSC offers over 50 programs of study leading to an associate degree or certificate.

J U DGE GLOR I A M. R I NCON ES 445th District Court
The Honorable Gloria M. Rincones serves as Judge of the 445th District Court in Brownsville, a position she has held for the past six years. In this capacity, she presides over a wide variety of legal cases, including felony criminal, divorce, land title, election contests, and civil matters. Prior to her election to the 445th District Court, Judge Rincones practiced law in Texas and California. She specialized in family, juvenile, civil, criminal, and immigration cases. She is passionate about family justice, previously leading the Domestic Violence Unit in the Ft. Bend County District Attorney’s Office in California. During her tenure, she spearheaded the improvement and supervision of the Civil Protective Order process and was an indemand speaker at family law and domestic violence seminars. She has also served on the board of Brownsville’s Friendship of Women, a non-profit agency dedicated to the prevention of family violence and sexual assault, including a term as President. Judge Rincones earned a bachelor’s degree in law enforcement and political science from Sam Houston State University, and her law degree from the South Texas College of Law.
