The morning begins with the Battle by the Rio Student Duo Competition, showcasing rising young performers, followed by an electrifying FREE lineup featuring Alize Nino, Los Fresnos Conjunto Halcon, Fruty Villarreal, Gilberto Perez Jr., Grupo Destacado, and headliner Michael Salgado with special guest Sunny Sauceda. The day begins with a TSC-themed Lotería gathering at the Jacob Brown Auditorium, followed by the full Charro Fest celebration at the TSC North & South Courtyard. This free, family-friendly event invites our community to enjoy music, games, and time-honored regional customs that highlight the spirit and identity of our border community. More than a festival, Charro Fest serves as a joyful reminder of the shared stories, values, and traditions that bring people together year after year.

TSC Historic Run & Half-Marathon Saturday, March 28, 2026 | TSC South Lawn, | 6:30 AM – 12:00 PM Join Texas Southmost College for the Historic Half Marathon, Two-Person Half-Marathon Relay, and a 5K run, a historic run celebrating 100 years of progress, perseverance, and pride. From seasoned athletes to first-timers, participants of all ages are invited to put on their running shoes and take part in this community-wide event. This special race is anticipated to guide runners through the TSC Campus and to the International Technology Education and Commerce Center (ITTEC). Every mile becomes a moment of reflection, moving through the college’s storied past while running toward its bright future. Note: All races have a registration cost.

TSC Children’s Play Day at the Zoo Sunday, April 19, 2026 | Gladys Porter Zoo | 500 E. Ringgold St., Brownsville, TX 78520 | Time: TBD Showcasing TSC’s commitment to early childhood education and bringing the community together in a joyful celebration of childhood, this event celebrates Week of the Young Child with Children’s Play Day at Brownsville’s renowned Gladys Porter Zoo. Families can enjoy a day dedicated to honoring children’s right to play while exploring one of the community’s most treasured spaces. Children’s Play Day at the Zoo offers a unique blend of learning and play, as students from TSC’s Early Childhood Education program create interactive educational booths, engaging young guests with activities which combine education and fun. Note: TSC Children’s Play Day at the Zoo is free with purchase of ticket to the Gladys Porter Zoo.

Guests will step into a dazzling atmosphere designed to honor 100 years of tradition, growth, and Scorpion pride. We are also putting out the call to past Bougainvillea kings and queens to grab their crowns and tiaras to join us as special guests of honor. All TSC alumni are invited. With its blend of glamour, community spirit, and festive celebration, the Bougainvillea Ball promises to be one of the standout events of Texas Southmost College’s centennial year.

TSC Flags on the Lawn Friday, May 22, 2026 | Parking lot across from 1940 W. University Blvd., Brownsville, TX 78520 | 8:30 AM – 10:00 AM Remembrance takes center stage at Texas Southmost College’s Inaugural Flags on the Lawn ceremony, set to be held on the grounds of the historic Former Ft. Brown Military Cemetery. Connecting the past with the present, this solemn event invites veterans, families, alumni, students, employees, and community members to gather in tribute to the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Attendees will have the opportunity to place individual commemorative flags across the grounds, creating a powerful collective display that symbolizes gratitude and shared remembrance. Each small flag added will grow to form a striking visual testament to service and enduring legacy. Flags will be provided at no cost and can be placed on the lawn starting Monday, May 18. Free and open to the public, Flags on the Lawn will also feature remarks from special guests, as well as an information booth from the TSC Veteran Services department.

Held at the Jacob Brown Auditorium, this vibrant community gathering invites guests to dance, taste, and enjoy an evening full of rhythm and flavor. Attendees can join free salsa dance lessons, perfect for beginners and seasoned dancers alike, watch a dazzling live showcase from salsa performers, and enjoy dancing with a live salsa band. Beyond the dance floor, guests can partake in salsa tastings, featuring a variety of styles and heat levels, along with food vendors offering delicious dishes.

The celebration also includes a special tribute to TSC Legacy Families, followed by the unveiling of “Threads of Time: 100 Years of TSC History & the Scorpion Generations Exhibit,” featuring historical artifacts from alumni across the decades. The Centennial highlight of the evening is Pumpkinmania, where attendees are invited to carve their own pumpkins and add them to a stunning grand pumpkin gallery displayed along the steps of the amphitheater, transforms the space into a glowing gallery of creativity and community.

The evening features a colorful parade and beautifully crafted altars (ofrendas) created to honor those who have passed.
