Chamber Sets Strategic Goals During its kick-off Board meeting for 2021, the Board of Directors approved new Strategic Goals for the Chamber. This four point plan is being implemented not only enhance to the Chamber, but moreover, in a wider sense highlight some of the outstanding things going on with our members and the community in general. The first goal is that the Chamber will be known as a prominent business advocate and resource for the businesses in the Northern Miami Valley Region. This has always been the Chamber’s primary function-to advocate for the businesses we serve. This goal enables us to use all the resources at our disposal from a myriad of different sources to maximize our marketing potential, increase the referrals of businesses to the Chamber, and gain feedback from members about the service the Chamber provides. The Chamber exists in large part because of the loyalty of its members. We recognize and value that, which is exemplified by our second goal; which is to make Troy known for being a “business friendly” or as some say “pro business” through the efforts of the Chamber. This will be accomplished first by hosting business roundtables in the forthcoming year to address key issues facing Troy businesses. We are also going to work to educate new businesses coming to Troy about the proper permitting process that they must undertake with both the City and County governments. The Chamber and the Troy Development Council (TDC) will work outwardly as a “one stop shop.” In essence they are two organizations working together to support our businesses. This year, businesses can expect the debut of joint marketing materials to be used as tools to help businesses, and processes which will enable members to contact both the Chamber and the TDC at the same time, while both entities will have clearly defined roles to advocate for the local economy. The fact that the Chamber and the TDC are so inextricably linked, makes the Chamber value the partnership we form within the community all the more. This encapsulates the third goal of 2021 which is enhance and explore community partnerships for opportunities, and common resources. All community organizations may have different functions; but our goal(s) are ultimately the same. To assure the growth and prosperity of Troy as it maintains is prominence a leader throughout this region. On our end, the Chamber will continue to work closely with the City, Troy Main Street and the TDC as we continue to work in partnership to insure that Troy remains a vibrant place to live, work, and visit. The Chamber is excited to feature ConAgra Brands as our Business of the Month. The company which is the largest manufacturer of Slim Jims in the nation; employs nearly 900 people at its facility in Troy located on Dye Mill Road.
In April of 2019, the food producing company broke
ground on a 68,000 square foot addition and remodel to the structure of the plant.

supports the local schools through scholarships, ongoing support of the United Way, and support of the Chamber and local business community. A fund partnership in 2018 included allowing Hook students to participate in taste testing new products.

support to many nonprofit organizations such as the United Way and the Troy Strawberry Festival.

JOIN US: EMPOWHER A DAY FOR WOMEN The Chamber will host its annual EmpowHER meeting, in partnership with StoryPoint and Merle Norman Cosmetics. This one day (virtual this year) meeting is designed to bring connect and empower women. EmpowHER 2021 is pleased to welcome two renowned speakers who inspire and motivate women . Annie Meehan is an international keynote speaker and author. Annie will discuss how to Be the Exception with seven transformational strategies to break cycles. Julie Bauke will also be speaking. A 1978 graduate of Troy High School, Julie will be returning to her hometown to remind listeners that You Can Have it All. Julie is a highly interactive speaker and trainer, who is the Chief Career Advisor for The Bauke Group. Join us March 5th for the conference from 10:00AM to 4:00PM.
