Employment Barrier Survey Launching in July Survey in partnership with the Troy Foundation In late 2019, Measurement Resources Company was retained by The Troy Foundation to conduct a community needs assessment to assist the Foundation in determining the greatest needs within the Troy community. The top four needs identified by the assessment were transportation, childcare, access to mental health services and affordable housing, which in the opinion of the Foundation can have a direct effect on not only the ability for people to be able to work, but also on their quality of life. The Foundation engaged an advisory group consisting of business, community and foundation members to specifically identify ways that could have an immediate impact on transportation and childcare. The advisory group has recommended that in order to move forward with finding permanent solutions addressing these two needs, it was important to learn more from current local employees by providing a survey through local companies. The Chamber will be administering the survey in July and August in an effort to collect local data.

Congratulations to the 2020 Business Excellence Award Recipients Each year the Chamber recognizes and honors businesses in Troy which, in a given year, have made a significant contribution to the overall good of the community. Unfortunately, we were not able to recognize businesses at our Annual Dinner due to COVID-19. As the community began to open, we decided to recognize the 2020 Business Excellence Award recipients at our Member Mingle - member appreciation event.

Business of the Month: Crown Equipment
Crown Equipment designs, manufactures, distributes, and supports material handling products which provide customers with superior value. One of the world’s leading manufacturers of truck lifts, Crown is focused on solutions that means with superior value. Crown equipment headquarters is located in New Bremen, Ohio. Crown has 19 manufacturing facilities including the location in Troy. Each year, Crown Equipment is a host for Manufacturing Day where students come to learn about how some of our manufacturers do businesses in the community.
QUESTION OF THE MONTH:
What does the Chamber do? The primary function of the Chamber of Commerce is to provide advocacy and support for the local businesses within Troy, but in fact the Chamber’s scope is much broader than most people may realize. The Chamber oversees and two leadership programs for adults and teens. Leadership Troy and Teen Leadership Troy are designed to give participants a back stage pass to the Troy community, allowing them to glimpse what makes Troy function. We cover a wide range of topics including government, business and industry, education, and human services. The strawberry festival is perhaps what makes Troy known throughout the region and beyond, the Chamber is the proud manager of this event, that brings thousands of people to Troy each year. Business is built on the strength of relationships, one that the Chamber is particularly proud of is the one we have fostered with our school districts; public, private, and technical. As such, we are pleased to host career exploration events for students each school year. The Chamber is always eager to welcome new residents and visitors to our community; the Chamber provides relocation packets, complete with information about municipal services, educational facilities, transportation, special events, and the many amenities which Troy provides. The Chamber has a responsibility to promote t h e Troy community, which is why we take an active interest in welcoming visitors and new businesses to Troy. This is made evident through the many shop local initiatives that we often launch to remind people of the vast shopping experiences which exists right here in Troy. The Chamber is proud to be an advocate for the businesses within the community, but we are equally as proud to be a partner in advocacy for the community as well.
