GENETIC CONDITION POLICY
Any animals that are confirmed as carriers of a genetic condition such as DD, developmental duplication, will be listed above their pedigrees as DDC. Any animals we are still waiting test results on will be listed DDPC. All other animals have been either confirmed free of known genetic conditions by test results or from pedigree analysis.
TRUSTED PERFORMANCE INFORMATION
We are extremely dedicated to providing our customers the genetics needed to positively impact their bottom line. As the motto of GENEPLUS states, “A Step Ahead. The Advantage You Can Trust”, we take very seriously the process of collecting phenotypic information and understand its fundamental importance and the role performance information and proper contemporary grouping play in providing the breed association with the most correct and current information possible, which in turn impacts the EPD’s you see directly. We will never compromise the integrity of our data.
All of the weights in this offering were taken by a scale, no tapes or windshield guesses. The ultrasound information was collected and processed through a certified CUP Lab prior to submission at IBBA.
The industry has changed over time and a process which was once dominated by visual appraisal, then performance testing and contemporary grouping now has the ability to roll all of the
information into a scope of genomically enhanced EPD’s. This gives the customer a tremendous edge in the accuracy of EPD’s and the assurance of parentage, thus dramatically improving the selection process for the future of their ranching enterprise. We encourage you to utilize these tools. For your convenience we have listed the current non-parent Brangus average EPD’s in this catalog for reference and comparison on how an individual compares to the average of the breed in any trait.
MAINTENANCE AFTER THE SALE
Bar V will work with customers on delivery of cattle in an effort to have the cattle delivered to customers as soon as possible after the sale. However, if you are not ready for the cattle at this time we will maintain the cattle at the ranch for a period of time until you are ready for them. A nominal fee of $5.00 per day will be charged plus any veterinarian charges incurred will be billed. Cattle will be maintained on a growing ration in grass traps. Cattle become the buyer’s responsibility immediately after the sale. Bar V or GENEPLUS is not responsible for insurance costs or death.
TRUCKING
At the conclusion of the sale or as soon as possible following the sale if purchases are made via video or sight unseen agreement; please notify the sales staff as to specific instructions about cattle delivery. If you request our assistance the GENEPLUS staff will make every effort to help coordinate the most reliable and economical trucking available. Trucking expense will be the responsibility of the purchaser. If you prefer to make your own arrangements Gary Tharp, Dixie Grove Trucking will be available sale day to discuss your needs or we can place you in contact with other reliable truckers.
INSURANCE
Please note that the animals you purchase become your responsibility at time of purchase. Please make note that many of the animals were in different contemporary groupings at weaning; therefore, it is not fair to compare birth, weaning and yearling weights from one herd to another.
EPD’S
Expected Progeny Difference (EPDs) is the best estimate of an animal’s genetic merit for a particular trait. It takes into account the animal’s own performance compared with its contemporaries and the performance of it’s relatives compared against their contemporaries.
Birth Weight (BW) EPD predicts calf size and calving ease.
Weaning Weight (WW) EPD predicts preweaning growth potential.
Yearling Weight (YW) EPD predicts overall growth potential.
Milk EPD predicts the maternal contribution to weaning weight of the calf through milk production, behavior, immunity and other maternal environmental factors.
Scrotal Circumference (SC) EPD predicts not only testicular size of male progeny but also daughters onset of puberty.
Ribeye Area (REA) EPD predicts total muscle.
Intramuscular Fat (IMF) EPD predicts % of intramuscular fat which is highly correlated to marbling.
TERMINAL INDEX (TI) is a bio-economic index which considers six growth and carcass-related traits, each trait weighted according to its heritability and economic importance in a feedlot situation with carcasses valued by weight, yield, and quality grade. The value is expressed in standard deviation terms, which can be difficult to comprehend. IBBA advises breeders to evaluate the percentile rank rather than the actual index value.
FERTILITY INDEX (FI) is a bio-economic index which considers six traits, each trait weighted according to its heritability and economic importance in a cow-calf enterprise. The value is expressed in standard deviation terms, which can be difficult to comprehend. IBBA advises breeders to evaluate the percentile rank rather than the actual index value.
HEIFER PREGNANCY (HP) is reported in percentile units and represents the probability of a sire’s daughters becoming pregnant during their first breeding season compared to daughters of other sires.
STAYABILITY (ST) is reported in percentile units and represents the probability that a cow will have five consecutive calves compared to her yearling contemporaries.
PERFORMANCE
Individual performance data is provided as supplementary information as EPDs provide more reliable evaluation of genetics differences of animals.
Actual Birth Weight (BW) are reported.
Scrotal Circumference (SC) is adjusted to 365 days
Brangus EPDs are calculated by the Livestock Genetic Services and are part of a program called the National Cattle Evaluation (NCE).
EPD PERCENTILE RANKINGS
Individual ranking relative to the entire breed population on a specific trait, represented in the form of a percentage, with 1% being best and 99% being worst.
Sire parentage has been verified and GE-EPD’s will be available March 1st
BUILT-IN VALUE
The industry is moving at a rapid pace, and the females within this offering will help lead the charge in seedstock production, keeping the breed and breeders ahead of the curve of the next generation. Built on consistency, quality, data, and cowboy intangibles, we have taken the guess work out of the path forward through selection of proven, known, and predictable genetics that will add value to YOUR customers and dollars to YOUR bottom line.

ARGUABLY THE BEST
The T053 Angus cow from Bradley 3 Ranch in Memphis, TX was the beginning of a new era and the foundation of a dominate new cow family for not only Suhn Cattle Co but also the Brangus breed. Four females rose to the top as her most influential daughters. 53E2 owned by Reggy McDaniel was the high selling and pick of the herd at $65,000 through the 2022 Houston Sale. She is the mother of Born Leader, Bullet Proof, Wide Load and Expansion. 53D2 was purchased by Genesis Ranch for $35,000 through the November 2022 G+ at Chimney Rock Sale. She is the mother to Outlaw, Octane and Kingpin. 53D6 a carbon copy of 53D2 and full sister produced 3 natural calves and one flush before her untimely death as a 4 year old. That brings us to the lot selling, 53G11, who could arguably be the best of the sisters. She is the dam of Spectrum who is without question one of the most prepotent and dominant sires of his time and her second natural calf also sired by Signal was at the very top
of her age group. 53G11 redefines extension through her front end and femininity with ideal angle to her front shoulder and carries into excellent thickness through her top line and considering her femininity a massive hip structure and hind quarter dimension that is also evident in the females that her son Spectrum stamps on his daughters. Her first two natural calves combined to have a nursing ratio of 108, thus proof that she is able to raise one while still maintaining excellent udder structure. When you evaluate her EPD rankings in the top 15% or better for WW, SC, IMF, HP, STAY, TI, FI, BB and NC it just adds icing to the cake. If you have been looking for the right donor female with incredible pedigree dominance, nine EPD rankings in the top 15% of the breed or better, a dominance in the pasture with her femininity, fleshing ability and structural soundness plus the ability to excel beyond what she has accomplished to date. Look no further than this lot.

The 406 cow family began their journey in the Brangus world 47 years ago when Glen Brinkman mated the Indu Brazil sire Precioso 51 to a Lodge of Wye daughter and produced the half-blood female H406L. The 406 cow family did not create a lot of excitement during the 80’s as they did not have the extended growth pattern and frame size popular in that era but were always just good functional cattle that stood the test of time in the pasture. Fast forward three generations and you come to the 406M4 cow who was one of the selections by Dick Beck for the Three Trees program from the June 2008 Brinks Brangus of Camp Cooley Ranch cowherd dispersal. As you study 406J13’s pedigree and data it quickly becomes evident that Dick Beck was selecting that day for females that were at the top of the breed for IMF. Her pedigree stacks both top and bottom such great sires as Newsday, Best Bet, Lead Gun and finally the carcass sire Lambert of Brinks. Her data set comes as no surprise as she ranks in the top 1% for IMF and the top 10% for REA along with top 10% for YW and top 15%

for WW. Yes, those numbers that are impressive but what really sets this female apart are the added components, as she presents them in a moderate framed, functional package. She is feminine in her appearance with a correct slope to her shoulder, long level topline and correctly designed hip and hind leg structure with excellent udder design. She has averaged 15 grade one embryos per aspiration. 406J13 places herself in a league by herself when you study the progeny that she has already produced by Business Line, Trail Boss, Darkhorse, Data Bank, Paradigm, and Signal. The new buyer holds the cards for the future as she sells with a Darkhorse heifer calf at side and the prospect to flush her to the exciting up-and-coming bulls of the breed.

HOW THEY WILL SELL
Heifers will be penned at the sale site in pens ranging in number from 10 to 25 head. We will video the cattle as a pen and will show that video as that pen of cattle is being sold. The cattle will not be run through the ring but as stated earlier most can be viewed at the sale site prior to the sale in their pen. We will produce a sale order for cattle selling and each pen will be split into several groups. As each pen comes up for sale we will sell the first group and the
winning bidder will have, at the discretion of the sale personnel and auctioneer, the right to purchase the next group of cattle in that pen and each succeeding group of cattle in that pen until that pen is sold. If the purchaser does not take the option to buy the next group of cattle that group will be sold and, at our discretion, that buyer will be given an option until that pen is sold and we proceed onto the next pen of females.

If the animal is deemed unsatisfactory, it may be reloaded on the delivery truck at no obligation to the buyer. All transportation expenses will be the responsibility of GENEPLUS. If the purchaser is unable to view the animal upon delivery that purchaser would have one week to deem the animal as unsatisfactory. In this instance the buyer may, at their expense, return the animal to GENEPLUS for a refund of the purchase price. DVAuction purchases do not fall under this guarantee.
Certificate of Registry
A transferred certificate of registry will be furnished to the purchaser for each registered animal within 45 days of proper settlement.
Health
Interstate health papers suitable for interstate shipment will be furnished on all animals as required by federal and state regulations.
Announcements
Any changes from the information of any kind in this catalog will be provided in a sale day supplement sheet or announced from the auction block and such information shall take precedence over cataloged information.
Breeding Guarantee
1. The seller guarantees all animals to be breeders with the exception of:
a) Calves under 12 months of age at the time of sale;
b) animals shown by purchaser after sale in which the breeding guaranteed (if any) shall be agreed upon between the seller and the buyer;
c) animals who suffer injury or disease following the sale;
d) animals subjected to gross negligence by willful misconduct on the part of the purchaser.
2. The seller guarantees that all bulls are breeders for a period of 90 days following the initial turnout date with buyers’ herd as long as this occurs within 60 days of date of sale. Or in the case of a bull purchased in the fall and not used until spring or vice versa they will be guaranteed for the 90 days from that first date as long as bulls have been kept in good condition and not run with other older mature herd bulls. This only applies to bulls that are at least 12 months old at time of sale and have not been allowed to run with the herd until at least 14 months of age. Seller does not guarantee death loss or injury.
Any bull which settles cows by natural service and passes a fertility test made by competent veterinarians, mutually agreed upon by buyer and seller, during any six-month period of trial (provided for in paragraph 2 of the section of these sales terms and conditions entitled “Option and Privilege of Return and Adjustment”), shall be considered a breeder unless otherwise agreed by the buyer and the seller. The seller makes no guarantees with respect to the bull’s ability to freeze semen.
3. Cows with calves at their side are presumed to be breeders with no further fertility guarantee.
4. “Safe-in-calf” females are guaranteed by the seller to have been examined by a competent veterinarian or reproductive technician and determined to be safe-in-calf by examination or other proven method (e.g., ultrasound, pregnancy blood tests, and rectal palpation).
5. Exposed females are not guaranteed to be with calf.
6. “Open” females are guaranteed by the seller to be without calf.
7. Donor females:
a.) Unless otherwise agreed by the buyer and the seller, a female that has been used in an embryo transfer program is not guaranteed to be a breeder after the date of the sale.
b.) Unless otherwise agreed by the buyer and the seller, a female is not guaranteed to be a breeder after the date of the sale, when that female is to be used, or attempted to be used, in an embryo transfer program.
c.) Virgin, open heifers that are placed in IVF or conventional embryo transfer prior to being confirmed bred will void any seller’s guarantee of breeding or embryo production.
8. The seller makes the following guarantees with respect to all “pregnant recipients”: (i) that the female is pregnant, (ii) that the resulting calf is of the pedigree represented, and (iii) that the resulting calf is of the sex represented (if so represented).
Semen
1. Unless otherwise agreed by the buyer and the seller, with respect to the sale of semen the seller makes no guarantees with respect to the performance or characteristics of such semen and the buyer is purchasing such semen “as is.”
Embryos
1. Embryos being offered for sale will be sold “as is” unless the seller provides additional guarantees.
Privileges of Return or Adjustment: Options
1. With the exception of any applicable transportation expenses described herein, a seller shall never be liable to a buyer for an amount greater than the original selling price of any animal sold under these Sales Terms and Conditions.
2. Unless otherwise stated, all claims for adjustment or refund must be made in writing to GENEPLUS within 180 days following the sale of the animal in question.
3.If an animal is claimed to be a non-breeder, the animal may be returned to the seller if it is in good condition and complies with the health requirements of the seller’s state. At the option of the buyer, the seller may issue a credit to the buyer for use in a future purchase or provide an animal of equal value subject to the approval of buyer. If the buyer exercises either such option, the claim shall be deemed fully and satisfactorily resolved. The seller does have the option on any animal’s claimed to be a non-breeder that the buyer, at his expense, return the animal to the seller and the seller has 180 days from the date the animal is returned to the seller’s ranch to conduct a trial to demonstrate the returned animal is a breeder. If the animal is confirmed to be a breeder during the test trial this shall be deemed full satisfaction and settlement of the claim. Any expense incurred for transporting an animal claimed to be a non-breeder will be the responsibility of the buyer.
4. If a female sold as “safe in calf” proves not to be in calf, the seller must make a satisfactory adjustment on the purchase price to the buyer or, at the buyer’s option, either credit can be given for the purchase price of the female or a satisfactory animal agreed on by both parties to replace original female. Any claim for adjustment under this paragraph must be made in writing to GENEPLUS within 60 days of date of sale.
5.If a female represented as “safe in calf” to a certain bull at the time of sale proves to have been bred to a different bull, the seller must make a satisfactory adjustment on the purchase price to the buyer. Any claim for adjustment or refund under this paragraph must be made in writing to GENEPLUS on or before the first anniversary of the date of sale.
6. If a female sold as “open” proves to be with calf, the buyer may return the animal to the farm of the seller prior to calving for a credit of the full purchase price or for another animal of equal value, whichever is acceptable to the buyer. The Seller is responsible for all transportation expenses.
7. If an animal (including the offspring of a pregnant recipient) is sold and through parentage verification is proven to have incorrect parentage, as represented by the animal’s certificate of registration and for which correct parentage can be determined, the seller is obligated to make satisfactory adjustment on the purchase price only to the buyer or, at the buyer’s option, credit the purchase price upon the return of the animal to the farm of the seller. Any claim for adjustment or credit under this paragraph must be made in writing to GENEPLUS on or before the first anniversary of the date of the sale. Those animals upon which parentage verification has been recorded with the IBBA will be so noted in the sale catalog or in a supplement sheet. At time of purchase it becomes the buyer’s responsibility to adhere to the rules of the IBBA regarding parentage verification for animals used for semen and embryo production.
8. If the resulting calf of a pregnancy is not of the sex represented at the time of the sale, the seller is obligated to make a satisfactory adjustment on the purchase price to the buyer or, at the buyer’s option, credit the purchase price upon the return of the animal to the farm of the seller. Any claim for adjustment or credit under this paragraph must be made in writing to GENEPLUS on or before the first anniversary date of the sale.
9. Unless stated otherwise, all transportation expenses incurred will be the responsibility of the buyer, except that the seller will be responsible for transportation costs in excess of the distance between the buyer’s farm and the location where the sale took place.
