WHAT SETS US
APART The maternal strength of the Brangus
breed is well documented throughout the industry, and a trait we don’t take lightly. But “maternal strength” in our view isn’t about maximizing milk production, it encompasses a litany of traits. While milk is important, too much can be more harmful than not enough. We seek a moderate balance in milk, along with extra emphasis on fertility related traits, added focus on feet and leg soundness and constant evaluation of body condition scores so that at the end of the day, GENETRUST
females can do it all. They are expected to raise a calf that the market desires every 365 days, while maintaining their structural soundness and body condition in a forage-based environment with minimal supplement. Profit centered cows, the way our customers ranch. THAT’S THE GENETRUST DIFFERENCE.

CONTINUING TO EXCEED
EXPECTATIONS Alongside our GENETRUST partners and ranch staff, Nancy and I would like to welcome you to our ranch April 27th for our annual spring Registered and Commercial Brangus female sale. Our partners and cooperators have put together an outstanding set of cattle and we would love to have you as our guest as you come evaluate the offering. Moisture has been a topic of conversation across the country, as most of us have had more throughout the winter than we needed at the time, but that has parlayed into a very prosperous spring as grazing prospects are excellent! While excess moisture can be trying at times, it still beats the alternative to pieces so we will take it when it comes! As you study the registered offering you will find a few select donors, a very youthful set of pairs and 3N1s, some stout bred heifers and an outstanding string of open heifers. Our partners and cooperators continue to raise the bar every year and they have exceeded expectations this time. We are very proud of the commercial offering as well, as we have set a personal goal to make this one of the top sources of replacement females in the country year in and year out and have strived to make improvements across the board to accomplish this. The genetic potential within these cattle is as good as you will find anywhere to work not only in the replacement arena but also all the way through the supply chain. Plan to join us on Friday afternoon, April 26th, to view the cattle and stay for the steak supper that evening if you can. The friendship and fellowship amongst breeders is one of the greatest parts of this business and we would love to have you as our guest. If I, or any of the GENETRUST staff or partners, can assist you in any way before, during or after the sale please do not hesitate to ask. Keep the sun shining, the green grass growing and we will see you at the sale April 27th!
Joe Cavender JOE CAVENDER

I have been overly impressed with the level of service coming from the GENETRUST team. They have been amenable at every turn, going beyond the call of duty and for that reason I wouldn’t consider going anywhere else for my seedstock needs.

GENERAL INFORMATION
CATTLE LOAD OUT
Cattle will be available for load out immediately after the sale and proper settlement has been made on purchases. If you wish to loadout at a later date please note that when you check-out. Arrangements can then be made to have your cattle ready when you arrive.
SAVE SHIPPING AND HANDLING
You can save shipping and handling charges by picking up semen that you will need for your spring breeding season at the Cavender’s Neches River Ranch Sale. Representatives from either GENETRUST or Integrated Breeders will be available to fill your orders. We would ask that you keep your orders to goblet increments of 5’s or 10’s so that we can avoid excessive handling of semen. Please contact GENETRUST at 1-877-436-3877 to place your order prior to the sale to assure we have enough semen on hand and available sale day.
SALE ORDER
The cattle will not sell in numerical lot order. We will have a printed sale order prior to the sale. Please note that animals will not be going through the ring and will be presented on video.
GENETIC CONDITION POLICY
Any animals that are confirmed as carriers of a genetic condition such as DD, developmental duplication, will be listed above their pedigrees as DDC. Any animals we are still waiting test results on will be listed DDPC. All other animals have been either confirmed free of known genetic conditions by test results or from pedigree analysis.
TRUSTED PERFORMANCE INFORMATION We are extremely dedicated to providing our customers the genetics needed to help positively impact their bottom line. We will not compromise the integrity of our data. Our utmost goal is to provide the information
that will successfully identify the genetics most needed in your particular operation. The information provided by the IBBA was provided at weaning and yearling by the breeder for computation. We believe in EPD’s, but fully realize that they are only as good as the information provided to the association. Inaccurate weights and faulty contemporary groups lead to poor information and bad selection decisions.
Please realize that these cattle were in different contemporary groupings at weaning; therefore, it is not fair to compare birth, weaning and yearling weights from one herd to another. A wide range of environments are represented in this offering and thus have affected those weights, plus different management comes into play, i.e. creep fed vs. not creep fed. Within herd weights and ratios were good when that was the only information we had. However, EPD’s are a much better indicator of genetic potential and are the only way across herd comparisons can be made. Also, we have listed the current non-parent Brangus breed average EPD’s in the catalog for your reference and comparison on how individual lots compare to the average of the breed in any trait.
HEIFER BREEDING OPTION
In an effort to make available a service to our customers and provide them with an opportunity to be able to breed the open heifers they purchase AI to the best and most proven bulls available we will again offer the HBO program. Schmidt Farms has again agreed to make this available to our customers and we greatly appreciate the extra effort that Randy and Richard go to in order to make this possible. Please refer to the HBO page in this catalog that defines the details of what we offer. Also please note that those females that GT deems eligible for this program will be noted as HBO ELIGIBLE.
ULTRABLACK
The Ultrablack program has been a major success for us and an in demand product for our commercial
customers. Please note that we have noted the UB1 cattle in this catalog with a green highlight and the UB2 with a blue highlight. We have not however made note of those females that may be carrying the service of an Angus sire or Ultrablack sire. While viewing this offering please keep this in mind so that you are aware of what these female lots are bred to.
MAINTENANCE AFTER THE SALE
Cavender’s Neches River Ranch will work with customers on delivery of cattle in an effort to have the cattle delivered to customers as soon as possible after the sale. However, if you are not ready for the cattle at this time we will maintain the cattle at the ranch for a period of time until you are ready for them. A nominal fee of $3.50 per day will be charged plus any veterinarian charges incurred will be billed. Cattle will be maintained on a growing ration in grass traps. Cattle become the buyer’s responsibility immediately after the sale. Cavender’s Neches River Ranch or GENETRUST is not responsible for insurance costs or death.
TRUCKING
At the conclusion of the sale or as soon as possible following the sale if purchases are made via video or sight unseen agreement; please notify the sales staff as to specific instructions about cattle delivery. If you request our assistance the GENETRUST staff will make every effort to help coordinate the most reliable and economical trucking available. Trucking expense will be the responsibility of the purchaser. If you prefer to make your own arrangements Larry Smith Trucking will be available sale day to discuss your needs or we can place you in contact with other reliable truckers. Please note that the animals you purchase become your responsibility at time of purchase. GENETRUST nor any of the breeders involved in this sale take responsibility for animals that may be injured in transport. Insurance is available for those who would desire that coverage.

Genomically Enhanced EPD’s EPDs
Expected Progeny Difference (EPDs) is the best estimate of an animal’s genetic merit for a particular trait. It takes into account the animals’ own performance compared with its contemporaries and the performance of its relatives compared against their contemporaries. Birth Weight (BW) EPD predicts calf size and calving ease. Weaning Weight (WW) EPD predicts preweaning growth potential. Yearling Weight (YW) EPD predicts overall growth potential. Milk EPD predicts the maternal contribution to weaning weight of the calf through milk production, behavior, immunity and other maternal environmental factors.

PERFORMANCE
Individual performance data is provided as supplementary information as EPDs provide more reliable evaluation of genetic differences of animals.
Total Maternal (TM) also, called M&G EPD predicts weaning weight of calves from a bull’s daughters.
Actual Birth Weight (BW) are reported.
Scrotal Circumference (SC) EPD predicts not only testicular size of male progeny but also daughters onset of puberty.
Yearling Weight (YW) are adjusted to 365 days.
Weaning Weight (WW) are adjusted to 205 days. Scrotal Circumference (SC) is adjusted to 365 days.
Average Daily Gain (ADG) is a measure of growth rate on a high energy diet. It is positively associated with feed efficiency. IMF is highly correlated to marbling. Fat Thickness (FT) is adjusted to 365 days and ratioed relative to contemporaries. Brangus EPDs are calculated by the Livestock Genetic Services and are part of a program called the National Cattle Evaluation (NCE).
HEIFER BREEDING OPTION GENETRUST, in an effort to provide useful and valuable services to our customers, started the HBO (Heifer Breeding Option) in the spring of 2014. Since its inception, it has been well received by our customers who wish to have a higher percentage of their newly purchased heifers bred with known AI sires. The HBO program has worked particularly well for those breeders who, for whatever reason, may not be able to AI breed their heifers at home. The program has consistently had a high percentage of these heifers bred safe to known GENETRUST AI sires. The program has been very well received, and customers have been very appreciative of the job that Randy Schmidt and Richard Norris have done in continuing to develop these heifers, getting them bred, and keeping their new owners informed of the progress and breeding status of their heifers. The HBO period lasts approximately 90-120 days, and for the $500 cost, the new owner is guaranteed a bred heifer, safe in calf, or a 100% credit for the original purchase price of the heifer, if we are unable to get her bred. So basically, you are guaranteed a bred heifer (or a credit) for an additional $500 over the cost of the open heifer you purchased.
▶ •
▶ •
▶ •
The HBO is available as an option, at buyers choice on any virgin, registered heifer {13 to 17 months of age} sold through a GENETRUST sale. Lots that are eligible will be noted in the catalog as HBO ELIGIBLE. Heifers will be delivered to Schmidt Farms, Simms, TX to be managed and AI bred to a GENETRUST herd sire of the buyers choice. Cody, Craig, or Vern would be happy to make breeding recommendations to the new owner, but the final decision will be left to the new owner. GENETRUST pays for pasture, feed, mineral, normal vaccines, synchronization meds and parasite control as required. Semen costs will also be paid for if the buyer uses a GENETRUST bull. A quality clean-up bull will be provided after AI is completed at no additional cost.
▶ ▶ •
Heifers will be managed similarly to the virgin heifers at Schmidt Farms of the same age.
•
The cost of this program is an additional $500 over the cost of the heifer. Settlement of this fee, along with the full purchase price of the heifer, must be made on day of the sale. Heifers will be moved to the breeding location at no cost to the buyer.
▶ •
▶ •
▶ •
When heifers are palpated safe in calf, they will be considered a breeder with no further guarantees from GENETRUST partners or it’s cooperators. Registration papers will be transferred to the new owner when heifers are confirmed pregnant. If the heifer does not palpate pregnant the purchaser will be given, a credit for the purchase price only, which can be used in future GENETRUST sales and does not include the $500 HBO cost, or the salvage value of the heifer. It is the buyers responsibility to pick up the heifers within 2 weeks of notification of palpation results. The arrangement for trucking from Schmidt Farms to the customer’s ranch is the responsibility of the new owner and not GENETRUST. GENETRUST partners and cooperators are not responsible for death or any incurred vet expenses on any heifer in this program. We strongly advise the purchaser to purchase mortality insurance on heifers.
Customers who are considering the HBO are encouraged to discuss the details with a GENETRUST member or sale representative prior to the sale. At the conclusion of the sale and after check out we encourage all customers who wish to enroll heifers in the HBO to visit with Randy Schmidt to work out all details, make sure we have all contact information, and to get any questions answered that you might have. Randy Schmidt is more than happy to discuss prior results and details of the program. He can be reached by phone or text at 903-278-7777 or e-mail: sfbrangus@gmail.com.

CALVING EASE & MATERNAL CONSISTENCY Multi-generation calving ease and maternal genetics are two things you can consistently take to the bank, and this female encompasses both as far back as you want to look. First bursting on the scene in the fall of 2010 as a FANCY heifer calf, she had LOTS of friends that fall at CRC and was selected by Duane Hahn as one of the high selling females of that premier event. Her moderate framed, deep sided, feminine look held true as she matured in a tremendously impressive individual. Statisitcally, she continues to carry on the 302 family legacy, ranking in the top 10% for CED & BW, 30% for CEM and 35% for Milk, with super balance beyond that. While her sire did not see tremendous use in domestic registered programs after being purchased by ABS Global, the Specialist daughters in production have done a really nice job, similar to North Star daughters, are moderate, easy fleshing and good doing kind. Platte Valley has traditionally not flushed a
large number of cows because of the limitation of their recipient availability but thought enough of this female to flush her following her $14,000 Final Cut son that sold to Lackey Ranch, as a ¾ sib to Three D, through the GT@ Cavender sale in November of 2014. They have since flushed her to Epic and SAV Resource, and she sells safe in calf to Trail Boss, which should produce an explosive data package. Tremendous opportunity to acquire a proven genetic base that traces back to a genetic gem in 302H6, while offering an outstanding calving ease and a unique pedigree twist to many of today’s top sires. She fits well almost any way you want to mate her, and especially to the host of outstanding Three D sons in the GENETRUST stable.

PROVEN, PREDICTABLE PERFORMANCE Incredible opportunity to acquire one of the leading donors in the Schmidt herd, who has quickly and efficiently shown the ability to be the top shelf, revenue generating kind of donor we all hope for. After quickly being identified by Randy and entering the donor pen, this female’s first flush to Three D produced $12,000, $9,500 and $8,000 open heifers as well as a $9,300 herd sire in addition to two other females who have since entered the donor pen at Schmidt Farms. Talk about a coming out party! A UB1 sired by Guardian and stemming back to the eye appealing 404 cow family from Johnston Brangus, she’s quickly made a name for herself by passing on her tremendous performance and design, in a moderate framed, easy fleshing package. Averaging over 9 embryos on 6 flushes, she has shown the ability to consistently create, and more importantly produce a calf crop with a low cull rate and a highly desirable public appeal. Randy, along with the GENETRUST partners, saw the value early on in the Ultrablack

program and have since been able to identify a number of sires and dams who are able to excel in consistently producing high quality UB1’s and UB2’s. Two of the most successful in this endeavor have resided at Schmidt Farms, with the first being Mack(McKellar Consensus) and the second being 404A. Because of her embryo producing ability and the extremely high-quality retention rate of her offspring, Randy is able to offer this female in her entirety, with the prime of her life ahead of her and a proven production record behind her. She sells safe to Brickhouse, due 9/21/19, and will quickly be ready for embryo transfer thereafter. The future is bright and with a stable of bulls that fit her like a glove, the new owner’s first flush very much has the potential to exceed the $38,800 she generated in her first flush at Schmidt Farms.

CARCASS & PHENOTYPE OUTCROSS Incredibly impressive carcass EPDs hit you right off the bat as you view this outstanding Angus female from Platte Valley. Her IMF lands her in the top 2% of the breed while REA is in the top 5% along with YW in top 20%, SC in top 25% and WW is in the top 30%. Her sire was a calving ease source in the Angus breed, owned by two performance programs in Knoll Crest and Baldridge Brothers, and the bottom side of her pedigree is speckled with breed icons such as Predestined, Midland and 1680. Visually this female expresses moderation of frame and tremendous depth and spring of rib and passes that same depth to her progeny. With multiple sons by Hombre commanding $8000-$12,000 in past GENETRUST sales, they were highly accepted because of their incredible performance, sheath design and overall eye appeal, showing that same superior depth of flank and fore rib as their mother. The maternal side of this female is of equal quality as
Duane has retained several daughters and granddaughters of this female in production, sired by Hombre, Three D and Passport. The demand for Ultrablack progeny is better than it has ever been as commercial cattlemen across the county continue to embrace it. This female has a proven ability to produce the right kind, and with the number of outstanding performance sires that would fit her in today’s world, the return on investment here should be a huge success story. That return on investment gets off to a quick start with her safe to Capital Gain, as he has shown to excel back on Angus females. Help yourself here.

With the exception of any applicable transportation expenses described herein, a seller shall never be liable to a buyer for an amount greater than the original selling price of any animal sold under these Sales Terms and Conditions. 2. Unless otherwise stated, all claims for adjustment or refund must be made in writing to the seller within 180 days following the sale of the animal in question. 3. If an animal is claimed to be a non-breeder, the animal may be returned to the seller if it is in good condition and complies with the health requirements of the seller’s state. At the option of the buyer, the seller may issue a credit to the buyer for use in a future purchase or provide an animal of equal value subject to the approval of buyer. If the buyer exercises either such option, the claim shall be deemed fully and satisfactorily resolved. However, in the event that the buyer requests a refund of the purchase price, the seller may, at its option, either issue a refund of the full purchase price or, shall have 180 days from the date the animal is returned to the seller’s farm to conduct a trial to demonstrate the returned animal is a breeder. Refund of the full purchase price or demonstrated proof that the animal is a breeder during the test trial shall be deemed full satisfaction and settlement of the claim. Any expense incurred for transporting an animal claimed to be a non-breeder will be the responsibility of the buyer, except that the seller will be responsible for transportation costs in excess of the distance between the buyer’s farm and the location where the sale took place. If the seller proves the animal to be a breeder, it will be the obligation of the buyer to take delivery of the animal and pay all transportation expenses. 4. If a female sold as “safe in calf ” proves not to be in calf, the seller must make a satisfactory adjustment on the purchase price to the buyer or, at the buyer’s option, refund the purchase price upon return of the animal to the farm of the seller. Any claim for adjustment or refund under this paragraph must be made in writing to the seller on or before the first anniversary of the date of the sale. 5. If a female represented as “safe in calf ” to a certain bull at the time of sale proves to have been bred to a different bull, the seller must make a satisfactory adjustment on the purchase price to the buyer or, at the buyer’s option, refund the purchase price upon return of the animal to the farm of the seller. Any claim for adjustment or refund under this paragraph must be made in writing to the seller on or before the first anniversary of the date of sale.
6. If a female sold as “open” proves to be with calf, the buyer may return the animal to the farm of the seller prior to calving for a refund of the full purchase price or for another animal of equal value, whichever is acceptable to the buyer. The Seller is responsible for all transportation expenses. 7. If an animal (including the offspring of a pregnant recipient) is sold and through parentage verification is proven to have incorrect parentage, as represented by the animal’s certificate of registration and for which correct parentage can be determined, the seller is obligated to make satisfactory adjustment on the purchase price only to the buyer or, at the buyer’s option, refund the purchase price upon the return of the animal to the farm of the seller. Any claim for adjustment or refund under this paragraph must be made in writing to the seller on or before the second anniversary of the date of the sale. Those animals upon which parentage verification has been recorded with the IBBA will be so noted in the sale catalog or in a supplement sheet. At time of purchase it becomes the buyer’s responsibility to adhere to the rules of the IBBA regarding parentage verification for animals used for semen and embryo production. 8. If the resulting calf of a pregnancy is not of the sex represented at the time of the sale, the seller is obligated to make a satisfactory adjustment on the purchase price to the buyer or, at the buyer’s option, refund the purchase price upon the return of the animal to the farm of the seller. Any claim for adjustment or refund under this paragraph must be made in writing to the seller on or before the first anniversary date of the sale. 9. Unless stated otherwise, all transportation expenses incurred will be the responsibility of the buyer, except that the seller will be responsible for transportation costs in excess of the distance between the buyer’s farm and the location where the sale took place.
