May 2021

In January 2021 we made the decision to extend our suspension of in person worship through the end of May. We write now to share an update and how we propose to keep moving forward together safely and faithfully. WORSHIP: Beginning Wednesday, June 16 we will restart the Wednesday 12:00 in person Eucharist We will meet in the sanctuary, space the chairs, maintain social distance and receive only the bread. We are not yet ready to come back for full community services and are extending the suspension of Sunday in person worship through August 2021. This week the diocese published a new set of current diocesan restrictions. As we review these guidelines, we are optimistic to be moving in a direction towards each other. For Trinity and our context, we are not quite able to safely re-gather and return to much of what is central and core to our mission and identity. We are also in the midst of working through staffing, our music ministry transition, discerning next steps for the Sunday community breakfast and envisioning a new worship schedule incorporating both in person and Trinity@Home offerings. All the while we are watching carefully how the latest public health guidelines affect the fast-changing dynamics of the pandemic and remain committed to responding in a safe and faithful manner. COMMUNITY CONNECTION: We will start offering ways to gather. As more of us are vaccinated and the weather warms, we will start offering times to be together. • All-parish Picnics- Sundays June 27, July 25 & August 29 th 1:00-3:00pm We have reserved the newly renovated Levis Square one block away from Trinity. Bring your own picnics, chairs and blankets (they also have some seating). We will also order box lunches for our Toledo Streets vendors and invite them to join us as well! We’ll have live music and enjoy our time together. •

Pop Up Dinners will begin again as a way to gather in each other’s homes once we have secured some willing hosts.

COMMUNITY DISCERNMENT: “The way we’ve always done it” is truly no more! Soon we will be engaging a process to discern how and when we will gather when full in person worship resumes. Stay tuned for some additional conversations as we dream our way forward together with God’s help and grace. Thank you for your courage, commitment and resilient spirits. I continue to hold you all in my prayers. Please stay connected in ways you can knowing our lives are richer through the ties that bind us in the name of our loving, liberating life-giving God. And may you never forget that you are loved. Lisa The Rev. Dr. Lisa Tucker-Gray, Rector
