Trinity requires that students pay an athletic fee to play. The high school fee is $225 per student per sport and the middle school fee is $200 per student per sport. Athletic fees must be paid before the first competition.

Gate passes

All Trinity high school students are admitted free to home sports for the 2025-26 season. Season passes are available for purchase for K-8 students and non-Trinity students. Season passes are also available to parents who join the Booster Club.

Sports Update

Sports Update is a weekly e-mail newsletter sent to MS and HS parents and students. The publication includes important game information, scores, and photos of athletic events.

ATTENDANCE

• If your student is ill, please notify the school office no later than 10 minutes after the start of school. If you call before school hours, you may leave a message on our answering machine. If your student is not at school within 30 minutes of start time and we have not heard from you, we will call to ask about the student.

• Chapel attendance is required for all students, including seniors with off-hours before or after chapel.

• Please do not put your student or others at risk by sending your student to school with fever, diarrhea, vomiting or any communicable disease. Students must be fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication before returning to school.

• Students must be in attendance at least half of the school day to participate in athletic practices or games or co-curricular activities.

• Parents should call the office to check high school students out for an appointment or absence, even if students are able to drive themselves.

Excused Absences

Parents may call or send a note to the office to notify the school of student absences. The following are excused absences:

• Illness

• Professional and medical appointments

• Family-related matters/emergencies (death, family illness)

• College visits (juniors/seniors)

• Court appearances

• Unusual circumstances (as determined by administration)

Makeup Work for Excused Absences

• Generally, makeup tests should be taken the day following a student’s return to class. It is the student’s and/or parent’s responsibility to familiarize themselves with each teacher’s policies and arrange for makeup work.

• In one- or two-day planned excused absences, students are expected to get assignments before leaving and turn them in the day they return. For longer absences, students should work with teachers on an individual basis.

• Teachers are not expected to provide homework/tests prior to an absence unless students or parents have given three weeks of advance notice.

Unexcused Absences

• Personal care appointments such as haircuts, etc.

• Driver’s license appointments

• Shopping

• Recreational trips/vacations

• Sleeping late

• Doing homework/studying for another class. Please do not excuse your student by allowing him to stay home and finish an assignment for one class while missing another class.

• Work-related issues

• Lunch – late returns

Tardies

Students who are tardy should report to the front office to get an admittance slip before going to class.

Students are given grace for three tardies per quarter. Parental notification does not excuse a tardy. HS and MS students reaching four tardies per quarter serve after-school detentions; students receiving six tardies are assigned Saturday School. The cycle repeats for additional tardies.

CALENDARS

You can access the school’s most up-to-date calendar by going to www.trinityacademy.org, and clicking on the tab for Current Families --> Calendars. There is both a downloadable one-page calendar and an online calendar. Frequent changes are made to the online calendar.

CELL PHONES

Trinity Academy is a cell phone-free school. Though phones have great utility, we have found that learning and social behavior improve drastically when students are fully engaged with their teachers and classmates.

K - 7th Grade Policy

No cell phones or smart watches allowed on campus.

Wait Until 8th

Trinity supports the “Wait Until 8th” initiative, which encourages families to delay giving children a smartphone until at least 8th grade. However, if 7th grade parents are insistent that their child needs a phone for before- and after-school communication, they must request a YONDR bag from the school.

Phones must be placed in the YONDR bag and locked upon arrival. The bag must remain sealed and with the student during the school day. It may only be unlocked after school is dismissed.

Any phone not secured in a YONDR bag will be collected and held in the office until a parent is able to pick it up.

8th - 12th Grade Policy

Cell phones, earbuds and smart watches will be secured in Yondr pouches for the instructional day. Yonder is a lockable magnetic pouch. It is secured and unlocked with a special locking device.

As students enter school, they turn the phone off and place it in their assigned Yondr pouch in front of school staff. Stu dents close and secure their pouch, keeping it with them throughout the day. When leaving the school, students tap their pouch on a base that opens the pouch so that they can retrieve their phone.

What happens if a student forgets their Yondr pouch? Their phone is stored in the school office until dismissal. What happens if a student is caught with their phone out

of the pouch during the school day?

School staff will collect the phone and contact a parent to pick it up. Additional discipline will be issued for repeat offenders.

Can students use the phones during break, passing period, lunch, Study Hall, or senior off hours?

No. Seniors who have an off-hour and are leaving campus may go to the office to have their Yondr pouches unlocked, but they may not be used inside the school.

What happens if the pouch is lost or damaged?

There is a $30 replacement fee.

What if students need phones due to a security threat?

All classrooms are equipped with a phone that can dial 911 as well as any other number. In addition, teachers have cell phones and the School Guard security app. The school has recently taken significant steps to enhance school security by investing in personnel, radio systems, and more.

Research shows that student cell phones create more problems than they solve in school crisis situations. A ringing phone makes students a target. It also causes students to miss important directions during crisis situations.

My student is a diabetic and needs to check blood sugar levels with a phone.

Contact the office. An accessible Velcro pouch will be assigned to the student instead.

What if I need to reach my child during the school day?

Contact the office. The high school number is 316-634-0909. The K-8 number is 316-932-1200.

CONFLICT RESOLUTION

Trinity encourages students, family, and faculty to follow the principles found in Matthew 18 to resolve conflict:

• If your student has a concern or complaint about a specific teacher, coach, or administrator, direct him to speak to that person in private first.

• If the concern continues, then the parent should speak with the individual.

• If the issue is still unresolved, the final step is to speak to an administrator.

COLLEGE COUNSELING

At Trinity Academy, our mission is to provide a college preparatory curriculum and support families in navigating the path toward college or career success.

Academic Offerings

We offer a diverse range of courses, including over 50 hours of dual credit and AP classes for high school juniors and seniors. These courses not only offer a rigorous college-level academic experience but also equip students with essential skills for their future educational endeavors.

Dual Credit Enrollment

Dual credit enrollment occurs during the first 2-3 weeks of both the fall and spring semesters. For more information or questions about enrollment, please speak with your teacher or the college counselor.

College & Career Planning

• Freshmen

Early in the school year, the college counselor will visit English or Bible classes to introduce students to college and career planning and help them set up accounts with Scoir, our college planning platform.

• Sophomores

In the spring semester, the college counselor will revisit English or Bible classes to discuss further college planning and offer career and vocational assessments.

• Juniors

In November, there will be a College Planning meeting for juniors. Additionally, the college counselor will meet with students in English or History classes throughout the year to initiate the college planning process. Individual family meetings are also available in the spring.

• Seniors

At the beginning of the fall semester, seniors will attend a College Planning for Seniors meeting to finalize college, financial aid, and scholarship applications. Toward the end of the year, seniors will complete a senior check-out to make sure students are ready for graduation and college enrollment.

The college counselor is available to meet with families throughout the year.

FAMILY FRIDAYS

Each Friday, students can wear “Family” T-shirts and nice jeans (no holes) instead of a school uniform.

• New students may pick up a free new “Family” shirt during Check-In Days.

• Returning students may wear the blue or green “Family” shirt they were given in prior years.

• Students who would like additional shirts may purchase them at the Knights Locker during Knight Lights or home varsity football games.

• Students who do not wish to participate should wear their regular school uniform.

• Fridays are not a day for other spirit wear. Only the “Family” shirts may be worn on Fridays. There will occasionally be other days of the week when other spirit wear may be worn.

FUNDRAISING

Trinity Academy has three major fundraisers during the year to help supplement financial aid, student co-curricular groups, and athletics.

Pancake Breakfast

The Pancake Breakfast is a fun event with the Trinity family. Save the date for Saturday, Nov. 15. This year, there are some big changes in store for the event! Watch for additional details!

Year-End Giving Campaign

The Year-End Giving campaign kicks off on Giving Tuesday and runs through December 31. The campaign provides funding for various initiatives ranging from financial aid to capital campaign needs.

“Living the Miracle” Banquet

This student-led Banquet will be held at Trinity Academy Thursday, April 9, 2026. Parents, grandparents, and friends are invited to come listen to student testimonies and hear what God has done in their lives. Students also lead a worship time during the event. Proceeds are used primarily to fund student financial aid.

Golf Tournament

Spend an afternoon relaxing on the golf course. It’s all for a good cause! Proceeds benefit the athletic department. This tournament is typically held immediately after graduation in the spring.

HOMECOMING

One of the biggest events of the year is Homecoming/Spirit Week. This week, held February 17 - 21, 2026, consists of several events culminating in a Saturday banquet/dance in the gym.

Spirit Week

Each day of Spirit Week has a theme chosen by Student Council. Students in grades K-12 dress according to the theme. There is a contest between the four high school classes to earn as many points as possible during Spirit Week. Points are awarded by the faculty/staff each day for dressing in costumes, helping to decorate/clean the gym, winning the costume contest, winning the skit contest, and winning the Spirit Week games. Parents are always welcome to come and watch.

Dance Instruction

On Thursday night, a dance instructor will come to Trinity to teach the high school students how to dance. In the past, students have learned swing dancing.

Homecoming Court

Students are nominated and votes are cast to determine the Homecoming court. The court consists of the following:

• Freshmen: a lord and lady

• Sophomores: a duke and duchess

• Juniors: a prince and princess

• Seniors: a king and queen

Students in the Homecoming court are introduced during halftime of the boys varsity game that week.

Homecoming Banquet & Dance

The Homecoming Banquet and Dance will be held Saturday, Feb. 21. Students dress in semi-formal attire -- traditionally, a floor-length dress for the girls; and a suit, or coat and tie for the boys.

Dates are not required. Some students invite a friend to be their guest, and others go as a group. Trinity does not encourage students to take a date. Dinner is held at Trinity and served by volunteer parents. Working on the decorations together is another opportunity for parents and students to make memories while decorating for the event.

Seniors will be announced as they enter the Commons. Parents are welcome to come photograph them as they are announced, but are asked to leave after the announcement due to space limitations.

KNIGHT LIGHTS

Knight Lights is a back-to-school party for K-12 students and their families. This year’s event will be held Friday, Aug. 22, 2025. There are games, inflatables, food trucks and more. The evening culminates by floating lanterns on the Trinity pond and a fireworks show over the stadium.

The concession stand and the Spirit Wear store in the stadium will both be open. It’s a great opportunity for new families to get Trinity gear before the school’s first spirit wear day!

Watch for details!

LUNCH

Trinity offers a hot school lunch for students, staff, and visitors. Students are also welcome to bring food from home. Microwaves are available to reheat food for grades 3 - 12. The Commons is used as the lunchroom.

The lunch menu is set quarterly. Entrees include meals such as chicken and noodles, chicken tenders, ravioli, tacos, hamburgers, pulled pork, and spaghetti. High school students may also choose from a variety of a la carte items such as string cheese, chips, ice cream, and fresh wraps.

One day a week, food is brought in from a local restaurant. At the K-8, that day is Monday; at the high school, the restaurant meals are served on Fridays. The restaurant meals are on a three-week rotation: Pizza Hut, Chick-Fil-A, and Firehouse Subs.

Trinity’s lunch program uses a pre-pay system. Parents can check balances on lunch accounts, add money 24/7, and even see what their student is eating with the online FACTS accounting system.

Trinity has a closed lunch policy. Seniors with an offhour during lunch are the exception; they may eat lunch off campus if the parent has given permission.

If a parent, grandparent, or sibling wants to take a student out to lunch, a phone call or signed note from the parent must be presented to the office assistant prior to leaving campus.

Grandparents, parents, siblings, youth pastors, and Trinity Academy alumni are encouraged and welcome to eat lunch on campus. Individual lunches are available for purchase. Cash is always accepted. Please remember that all visitors need to stop by the office to get a nametag before proceeding to lunch.

K-8 Snack Time

K-8 students have a snack time during the school day. Parents are welcome to send finger foods like popcorn, breads, cheese, crackers, fruit (please send them peeled and sectioned), granola bars, jerky, pretzels, rice cakes, or vegetables such as carrots or celery. Water is the only drink permitted during snack time. No dips, spreads, or utensils may be used.

If there is a child in the classroom with life-threatening allergies, an alternate snack list will be provided for everyone in the classroom.

NURSE

Trinity has a part-time school nurse on staff who offices at the K-8 school. The nurse oversees medications, administers first-aid and maintains school records. Families should ensure that the following medical forms are on file with the school:

• All K-12 students should have updated immunization records uploaded to the FACTS Family portal annually.

• Students who need epipens, inhalers, etc., should have a signed form on file from their physician.

• If a student needs to have medication administered by the school, a form must be placed on file.

Details for each of these items is in the back-to-school email.

PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES

K-12 parent-teacher conferences are held in October.

K-8 conferences require a scheduled time. Signups will be sent out in the weeks prior.

Elementary conferences are held in each classroom for K-5 and in the Commons for specials teachers.

Elementary report cards are emailed to each family at the conclusion of each nine weeks.

It is not necessary to schedule a time for high school conferences. Parents may come any time during the conference times. You will be given the progress report for your student.

All high school conferences take place in the east high school gym. Chairs are set up around the gym. Parents wait at those chairs and may go to any teacher who is available. Conference times are set to accommodate both working and non-working parents.

K-8 conferences are also held in February.

There’s no need to wait until parent-teacher conferences to contact your student’s teachers if you have a concern. You can contact the teacher by going to the Trinity Academy website at www.trinityacademy.org and clicking on the “Current Families” tab, and then navigating to the Faculty/Staff Directory. Teachers’ emails are also available in FACTS and through the Trinity app. Many times, email is the best way to communicate with a teacher as phone messages are harder for them to return during the day. Teachers are available until 4 p.m. every school day unless they are a coach, and also at 7:30 a.m.

PARENT COMMUNITY

Trinity Academy offers a vibrant community not just to its students, but to their families as well. Below are just a few of the opportunities for parents to build connections.

• Dad Breakfasts

Dads meet occasionally for breakfast on Saturday morning to connect and engage with other dads. There is often a guest speaker who gives a brief message.

• Dads Workout Group

Trinity dads are invited to join a year-round workout group especially for Trinity fathers. Each workout lasts 45 minutes and is followed by a short devotional and prayer time. Workouts begin in the early morning and end one hour after start time to ensure participants are able to get to work/family commitments on time. Workouts are accessible to men of all fitness types and ages. Everything can be modified up or down, depending on ability.

• Mom’s Knight Out

At the beginning of the school year, moms enjoy a free evening just for them. Some years, they enjoy music and light bites on the patio; other years, they watch a demonstration or play board games. It’s always a fun, relaxing evening where new friendships are formed.

• Father-Daughter Dance

K-8 Trinity fathers (grandfathers, uncles, important male role models) are invited to bring their K-8 daughters out for a fun night of dancing, games, and dessert in the K-8 Commons. Dads read notes of affirmation to their girls on this special evening.

• Mother-Son Nerf Night

K-8 moms and their sons are invited to a Nerf War! Moms and sons bring their own nerf gun -- we provide the darts! Snacks are served.

PARENT VOLUNTEERS

Trinity Academy relies on parents to help in many aspects of school life. Volunteering is a great way for parents to build friendships and enjoy the Trinity community.

• Parent TEAM

The Parent TEAM is made up of several committees -- from Baking Buddies to the Pancake Breakfast to Room Moms. There’s a way for everyone to get involved -- even parents who work. Parents may sign up to help with any of the groups in the back-to-school email. There will be additional opportunities to volunteer throughout the school year.

• FOFA (Friends of the Fine Arts)

This is a group of parents who help develop the fine arts program of Trinity Academy. There are many events in which to be involved during the year such as plays, musicals, vocal music concerts, and band concerts. Contact any of the fine arts teachers for more information.

• Booster Club

This club is made up of parents who are supportive of the sports programs at Trinity. Volunteers help at the gate taking money, selling concessions, selling spirit wear, providing snacks for teams, etc. Sign-up information can be found in the back-to-school email or on page 6 of this brochure.

Volunteer/Field Trip Driver Background Checks

To protect our students, all volunteers and field trip drivers must complete a three-part volunteer process, which includes a volunteer application, background check, and student protection plan training videos. The first step is to fill out a volunteer application. (The link is in the back-to-school email.) After completing the volunteer application, you will receive an email with the next steps.

Completion of the volunteer process is good for five years.

PICK UP/DROP OFF

High School

• Freshmen, sophomores and juniors are to park in the east parking lot, near the stadium. The front lot on 21st Street is reserved for seniors and employees. Students should not park in the parking lot south of the school or the visitor’s lot on the east side of the school.

• The drop-off and pick-up for high school students is located on the east side of the high school, between the pond and the school. Please do not use the front lot on 21st Street to drop off or pick up students.

Middle School

• The K-8 building drop-off area is marked by signage as you enter the parking lot. Middle school parents are asked to form a line in the right lane pulling forward as far as possible and not dropping off until they are in the dropoff area. After you drop off, please exit using the left lane. Alternatively, you can park in the parking lot and let your students off.

K-4

Vehicle Name Cards

Two vehicle name cards will be provided per family during Check-In Days on August 17. If you need more than two cards, please contact the K-8 front office at (316) 693-1200.

K–4 Drop-Off Procedures

If you need to exit your vehicle (to unbuckle your child, assist with a car seat, or give a hug), please park in the designated parking area. Staying in the drop-off lane while exiting your car slows down the entire line.

Only drop off your child once you’ve entered the clearly marked drop-off zone and pulled as far forward as possible.

From 7:45–8 a.m., the north door of the elementary wing will also be open in addition to the main entrance. This helps reduce congestion during drop-off. Please note: After 8 a.m., teachers are in their classrooms and no longer manning the north door. Therefore, all students must enter through the main school entrance.

If using the north door:

• Stay in the drop-off lane.

• Carefully use the left lane to pass parked cars and drop off at the north end.

• Do not enter the north teacher parking lot to drop off students.

K–4 Pick-Up Options

Option 1:

Car Line Pick-Up

• Enter the car line using the Founders Circle cul-de-sac and form a line on the street.

• As you enter the parking lot, we will notify your child’s teacher through our carline app.

• Your child will exit through the north doors, where a teacher may assist with opening your car door.

• A teacher or administrator will identify your vehicle using your name card or family number.

Tip: Clip your name card to the passenger visor and flip it down as you enter the car line. If you forget your card, roll down your window and state the name(s) of the student(s) you are picking up.

• Numbered signs along the curb help teachers and students locate your car. They also space cars out so you can safely exit using the left lane once your child is loaded. Do not remain stationary at a specific number; rather, pull forward as cars move.

• Please stay in your vehicle. If you need to assist with a car seat, use the parking lot, not the car line.

• For safety, children should only enter on the passenger side of the car.

Option 2: Park and Walk

• You may park and wait outside the north elementary door. At 3:15 p.m., a staff member will signal your child to meet you.

• Please walk with your child back to your vehicle.

• Do not park in the north teacher lot or allow your child to walk through the lot to meet you.

Picking Up Both K-4 and Middle Schoolers

If you have children in both K-4 and middle school, please plan to arrive at or just after 3:15 p.m.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES

Trinity partners with EPI School Supplies to purchase K-8 school supply packs online, saving 40% over other retailers. The deadline for orders was in May. Packs will be delivered to the school for pick-up on Check-In Days.

Families who did not purchase the packs may access the school supply lists by clicking the link in the back-to-school email and purchasing items at the retailer of their choice. Please note: The school provides planners for 3rd - 5th grade students.

Each high school teacher will hand out a class syllabus on the first day of class. The syllabus will list any required supplies. Please reference the required book lists for general items and calculator needs. High school students are asked to purchase a paper planner of their choice.

SECURITY

All visitors are required to check in at the front office when arriving at the K-8 or high school. Each visitor’s driver’s license is scanned with the Hall Pass Visitor Management system, and a yellow guest badge with name and photo is issued. This badge must be worn while on campus during school hours, to help ensure that only authorized individuals are allowed on campus.

If a visitor is identified in the national or state sex offender registry, the system will alert school officials immediately. Noncustodial parents with restraining orders can also be barred from accessing campus or school events.

In addition, Trinity employs a director of security to help ensure the safety of students in the school’s care.

SHEPHERDING GROUPS

Each day, Trinity students spend time with God and each other – praying, reading God’s word, and uplifting one another.

At the earliest grades, that happens in the classroom under the guidance of their teachers at the beginning of the school day. As students progress to high school, Shepherding Groups gather each morning with a mentor who knows and loves them. Here, students challenge each other to cultivate a deeper relationship with Jesus.

Girls are matched with women, and boys are matched with men. Each group includes students from grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 and range in size from 7 to 10 students.

Fourteen minutes a day has been set aside for Shepherding Groups. On Wednesdays after Chapel, groups meet for an extended time – typically about 30 minutes. Thoughout the week, students will do peresonal devotionals, group prayers, share stories, and more in Shepherding Groups.

The groups also choose a service project each year. Some may sort food for a food bank, others may do manual labor for an elderly couple, and still others may choose a project that benefits people with disabilities.

Adidas/BSN

Adidas, through BSN Sports, provides the following apparel for Trinity Academy:

• Official on-field athletic uniforms

• Clothing for K–12 students that is approved for daily uniform wear. Items include polos, crewneck sweatshirts, jackets, and pullovers. (Note: Most items are for older students.)

• Shoes that are approved for daily uniform wear

• Spirit wear for family and friends

Trinity’s online BSN store operates on a rotating schedule with specific opening and closing dates. Orders can be placed during open windows; once the store closes, BSN processes and ships all items directly to the school.

A countdown timer on the store’s website shows how much time remains in the current ordering window. After one session closes, a new link will be shared for the next opportunity to place orders—ensuring families can regularly access uniform and spirit wear throughout the year.

To order Adidas/BSN items, scan the QR code:

WEATHER - SCHOOL CLOSINGS

When extreme weather occurs, school closings are announced via Parent Alert (FACTS), email, social media, and on the school’s website. Closings are also broadcast on local TV stations KSN 3, KAKE 10, and KWCH 12.   This information will be provided by 6:30 a.m. Trinity Academy is generally consistent with USD #259 public school closings.

Trinity honors parental judgment regarding driving conditions. In the event that a child stays home during a school day, please let the appropriate office, coach, or director know your decision. Arriving late is preferred to taking risks. Absences and/or tardies will be excused in severe weather.

WILD GOOSE CHASE - AMAZING RACE EDITION

The Wild Goose Chase has been one of Trinity’s most beloved high school traditions since the very beginning. This year, we’re keeping the fun—but making some important changes to prioritize safety while still delivering an unforgettable night for students!

To eliminate any incentive to speed between locations, driving time will no longer impact a team’s score. Instead, The Wild Goose Chase has been reimagined in the style of The Amazing Race—with timed challenges at each clue stop. The fastest teams to complete the challenges (not the driving routes!) will earn points.

Teams will also enjoy a progressive dinner as part of the evening, with stops that include appetizers, entrées, and dessert. The evening wraps up in a school-wide party for all students.

This year’s theme is artists. Teams (Shepherding Groups) will dress in costume to represent their chosen “artist” inspiration—from Renaissance masters to street artists! Costumes must be school-appropriate and approved by Shepherding Group leaders.

Awards are given to the teams with the best times and best costumes!
