To God be the Glory!

MeetRENNAMANALO:TMIStudent

As an indigenous Iraya Mangyan, whose ancestors did not know the true God, I have come to understand the importance of faith in a living and true God. Through His Son Jesus, I have received complete forgiveness for my sins and salvation for my soul. With this understanding, I am now able to teach God's Word correctly to my fellow Mangyans in our tribe. The doctrines I have learned from our Bible training have deepened my foundation of faith, knowledge, and obedience to a true and living God. As a shy and quiet Mangyan, I previously lacked the courage to face people and speak publicly. However, I felt immense joy when I visited fellow Mangyans' homes to lead a Bible study as part of our training in TMI.

I was recently asked, “What is TRIBE Mission International, and why are you involved?”

That question has quickly become one of my favourites. The hardest part, though, is knowing where to begin

Do I start with the late-night conversations with Marcel deRegt in the middle of the Filipino jungle discussing what it could look like to come alongside this community, its ministry leaders, and support them in their Kingdom work?

Do I begin with learning that, in some of these remote areas, spiritual leaders or pastors are chosen based on who can get the furthest in the alphabet because that makes them the most educated?

1. We thank TMI for the opportunity to learn God's Word.

2. We express our gratitude to our teachers who tirelessly teach us, broadening our understanding of God's Word.

3. We thank TMI Philippines and Canada for your prayers and unwavering support for our studies.

Or do I start with the incredible reality that, despite such limited knowledge and resources, we are witnessing the Gospel transform lives and entire communities among the Mangyan tribal people on the island of Mindoro?

Jayden and Pastor Andy in the Tribal Comminity of Katupus.

No matter where I begin, chances are if you’re willing to listen I’ll tell you about all of that and more.

My involvement began when I co-led a trip with Marcel deRegt in 2022. On that trip, my eyes were opened and my heart was stirred for this particular community. But one of the main reasons I continue to serve with TRIBE Mission International today is because of the intentionality of its mission.

Too often in the West, we enter majority-world contexts assuming the role of saviour or teacher With TRIBE Mission International, it’s different Working alongside our in-country team, led by Pastor Noberto (“BJ”) Fermin, we support students, missionaries, and pastors in the work they are already doing Our goal is not to impose our own ways or mindsets, but to learn from and encourage the local leaders raising their profiles within their communities and strengthening the ministries God has already entrusted to them

The truth is, many of the faces we encounter in this work are people we, here in the West, may never see again on this side of heaven But the local pastors and leaders see them every single day It’s a profound joy and privilege to play even a small role in supporting them as they live out the call God has placed on their lives

So if we ever connect, feel free to ask, “Why TRIBE Mission International?”

Just be prepared you might be there for a while

In the Philippines, Christmas begins as early as September and lasts until mid-January Christmas trees and decoration are already up and Christmas carols are being sung!

As we, in Canada, soon celebrate the hope of Christmas, we’re thankful for how God continues to use TRIBE Mission International to train and equip pastors across the Philippines. Looking ahead to 2026, we’re excited to expand this work and see lives and communities transformed by the gospel

Would you prayerfully consider TRIBE Mission International in your personal or business year-end giving? Your support helps raise up indigenous pastors bringing the light of Christ to remote, unreached gospel areas of the Philippines
