PUBLIC NOTICE

LICENCE AMENDMENT APPLICATION FOR A BROKERING FACILITY

TAKE NOTICE THAT Merlin Plastics Supply Inc has applied to the Greater Vancouver Sewerage and Drainage District (“GVS&DD”) pursuant to the Greater Vancouver Sewerage and Drainage District Municipal Solid Waste and Recyclable Material Regulatory Bylaw No. 181, as amended (“the Bylaw”), for a licence.

Purpose and Location

The licence application requests authorization to operate a Brokering Facility located at 351 Gifford Street, New Westminster, BC, V3M 0A6. The legal description of the land or premises where the Facility is located is Lot A, Plan BCP35830, District Lot 758, Group 1, New Westminster Land District. The proposed hours of operation are Monday to Thursday 4am to 12am, Friday 4am to 1pm, and Saturday and Sunday 6am to 8pm.

Processes

This Facility takes both loose and baled material. Most of the material received is made up of mixed containers that are from curbside collection or deposit collections. The material is received, weighed, and sorted through both optical and manual sorting. The sorted material is then sent out for further processing; plastics going to Merlin’s own facilities and non-plastics are sent to other facilities.

This notice is published pursuant to the Bylaw. The licence application is at a preliminary stage where it will be reviewed by the municipality in which the Facility is located.

A person who may be adversely affected by the issuance of the requested licence described in this notice may notify the GVS&DD Solid Waste Manager in writing stating how that person would be affected. The public notification period is no less than 30 days after the publication date of this notice. Aspects of the proposal may change as the application proceeds through the municipal review and public comment processes.

Information collected during the comment period and the time following until a decision on the licence application has been made is done so by Metro Vancouver in accordance to s.26(c) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. The information collected will be used for the purpose of making a decision on the licence application and will be forwarded to the licence applicant for response to the Solid Waste Manager. By submitting a public comment, you consent to such disclosure. Also, your submission may be made available to the public as part of the public record, subject to the provisions of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
