A Conversation with Kasia Kozien — Tralee’s Queen of Quirk at “The Everything Everywhere All At Once Store”...

Chris: Kasia, congratulations on your new venture! Tell our readers what inspired The Everything Everywhere All At Once Store.

Kasia: Thank you, Chris! Opening this store has been a long-time dream of mine. After living in Tralee for over 20 years, my partner Mike, our daughter Julia, and I wanted to create something truly unique — a space that celebrates individuality. Our shop combines vintage, secondhand, and quirky items — things that tell stories and reflect personality. It’s more than a shop; it’s an experience where creativity and self-expression come together.

Chris: The name certainly stands out! How did you come up with it?

Kasia: (Laughs) That was Mike’s idea! We’re both huge fans of the movie Everything Everywhere All At Once, and the name perfectly captures what our shop is about — a mix of styles, eras, and surprises, all in one place. We really do have everything, everywhere, all at once!

Chris: How would you describe the atmosphere of your store?

Kasia: It’s a feast for the eyes! You’ll find furniture, art, décor, and unusual gifts — each piece carefully chosen to spark joy and inspiration. Julia’s love for music and her eclectic style also influence the shop’s look and feel. And some items even come from Mike’s late mum, who was an interior decorator. Her passion for

home décor lives on through the shop’s aesthetic.

Chris: What’s next for your business?

Kasia: We’re excited to introduce a community sustainability project! Soon, we’ll accept selected second-hand items in exchange for in-store vouchers. It’s our way of encouraging people to reuse, donate, and adopt — giving beautiful

items a new life.

Chris: Finally, where can people find you?

Kasia: We’re at 10 Barrack Lane, Tralee, just behind Penneys. Drop in, browse, chat, and maybe find that one-of-a-kind treasure you didn’t even know you needed!

Kerry Youth Voices Heard at Annual Youth Conference

Over 150 students from across Kerry gathered at The Rose Hotel, Tralee, on Thursday, November 6th, 2025, for the Kerry Comhairle na nÓg Annual Youth Conference — a dynamic forum giving young people a platform to discuss key issues affecting their lives.

Students from every secondary school in the county attended the event, where the Kerry Youth Council presented its 2024–2025 work on youth mental health. Earlier this year, the group conducted a large-scale survey with hundreds of responses, leading to the creation of infographics offering mental health tips for young people. Over 5,000 copies were distributed to schools across Kerry.

Looking ahead, the Comhairle outlined its 2025 vision: “A county

where the voices of young people are not only listened to, but acted upon.” Members also shared updates on collaborations with Kerry County Council, the Department of Children, and even the European Commission.

A lively panel discussion followed, with representatives from local government, the Kerry Education and Training Board, and the National Participation Office answering students’ questions. Topics included bullying, school stress, cost of living, housing, and vaping.

Local public representatives, including Mayor of Tralee Terry O’Brien, Minister of State Micheál Healy-Rae, and TD Danny HealyRae, also attended, engaging directly with students.

“It was great to see public representatives listening to young

people and supporting our voices,” said Christian Gleasure, Steering Committee member.

The Comhairle is now inviting new

members aged 12–18 to join. For details, contact Ray Matthews at raymatthews@kcys.ie.

Amazon’s Crackdown on Unauthorised Apps

Amazon has ramped up its e orts to block unauthorised apps on Fire TV and Fire TV Stick devices, particularly those linked to illegal streaming of premium content. The company now states it will block apps identi ed as providing access to pirated material, even if they’ve been sideloaded from outside the Amazon Appstore.

Device-Level Enforcement

This change goes beyond the Appstore itself. Fire TV devices may now prevent such apps from running entirely or display a warning: “This app has been disabled because it can put your device or personal data at risk.” This approach gives Amazon greater control at the system level to stop unauthorised software.

New OS: The “Vega” Shift

Amazon is also rolling out a new internal operating system, codenamed “Vega,” for upcoming Fire TV models. Vega is expected to eliminate support for sideloading altogether, meaning users will only be able to install apps available through the o cial Amazon Appstore.

Why the Change?

• Protecting rights-holders: Unauthorised streaming apps undermine legitimate creators and broadcasters.

• Security concerns: Many such apps pose malware and privacy risks.

• Platform integrity: By tightening control, Amazon aims to create a more stable and uniform experience for users.

What It Means for Users

If you use only o cial apps like Net ix, Disney+, and Prime Video, you’ll notice no di erence. However, those relying on “fully loaded” sticks or sideloaded apps for unlicensed content may nd these blocked or uninstalled.

Even legitimate customisation options — such as third-party launchers or utilities — could be limited under the new system.

The Bottom Line

Amazon’s policy shift marks a move from policing its Appstore to controlling app execution at the device level. While this enhances security and protects rights-holders, it also reduces exibility for users seeking a more open, customisable experience.

THERAPY CORNER

Kevin answers your aches & pains queries!

Q: "I know i need to be more active but body pains are holding me back! What can I do?" Maura, Ardfert.

Kevin says... What would work well is manual therapy and resistance training to give you more pain relief.

The World Health Organization recommends that adults perform at least 150 minutes of moderate activity per week, plus two or more sessions of muscle-strengthening exercise. Yet for many people living with pain, even starting can feel impossible.

That’s where manual therapy plays a crucial supporting role. Skilled hands-on treatment helps to reduce protective muscle tension, improve joint mobility, and restore movement confidence—allowing clients to begin resistance training safely and effectively.

Recent studies show that progressive strength training can reduce pain intensity, improve function, and boost mood, even in those with chronic musculoskeletal pain. Combining this with tailored manual therapy creates the ideal foundation for movement without fear.

At KP Therapy, we guide clients from pain towards performance—using evidence-based manual techniques, education, and gradual loading strategies that meet WHO activity guidelines. The goal isn’t just pain relief—it’s restoring resilience and confidence in your body again.

The National Sheep Welfare Scheme is a one-year initiative designed to assist farmers in producing betterquality animals while implementing practical animal welfare measures on farms.

Minister Foley said:

I am pleased to see the increase in the payment rate from €8 per ewe to €11.50 per ewe. Combined with the €12 per ewe available under the CAP Strategic Plan, farmers will now receive up to €23.50 per ewe - a 17.5% increase on last year.”

Nationwide, over 13,000 farmers will benefit from this year’s National Sheep Welfare Scheme for those who chose the completion date of 17 October for their actions. A further pay-run will take place in mid-December for farmers with a later completion date.

Healy continues to shape a squad full of energy, commitment, and ambition.

Pa Daly TD Slams Ryanair’s “Inconsiderate and Short-Sighted” Move to 100% Digital Boarding

Kerry Sinn Féin TD Pa Daly has strongly criticised Ryanair’s decision to eliminate paper boarding passes, describing it as “deeply inconsiderate and short-sighted.”

From today, passengers must check in online and download their boarding passes via the Ryanair app — printed passes are no longer accepted. Daly said the move unfairly penalises passengers who either lack digital skills or access to smartphones and the internet.

“Not only are Ryanair forcing people to use technology they may not want to, they are punishing those who can’t,” he said. “Many older people don’t own smartphones, and those who do often struggle with digital literacy. Ryanair is effectively

locking them out.”

He added that the decision ignores people with literacy challenges and households unable to afford broadband or mobile contracts.

“With the cost of living crisis still hitting hard, it’s astonishing that an airline built on affordability would now create barriers for those on the lowest incomes,” Daly continued.

The Kerry TD said his office has already received calls from distressed passengers — including an elderly man who now fears he can’t travel to visit family.

Daly is calling on Ryanair to rethink the policy and ensure “no passenger is excluded from travel due to digital inaccessibility.”

Minister James Lawless Visits Kerry College of the Future in Tralee

Kerry Education and Training Board (Kerry ETB) welcomed Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, James Lawless TD, to the Kerry College of the Future at its Monavalley Campus in Tralee this week.

The visit marked a celebration of innovation, investment, and progress in skills and training across Kerry.

Minister Lawless met with staff, apprentices, and learners while touring the college’s cutting-edge facilities, which are central to Kerry ETB’s vision for a future-ready education and training system.

Minister Lawless commended Kerry ETB’s leadership in developing advanced apprenticeships and programmes aligned with Ireland’s

Green Transition, such as the Wind Turbine Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship. “Kerry ETB is creating a modern training infrastructure that meets the evolving needs of learners and industry,” he said.

Kerry ETB Chief Executive Ann O’Dwyer and FET Director Owen O’Donnell emphasised the college’s commitment to expanding opportunities for people of all ages to learn, upskill, and retrain.

The visit highlighted Kerry ETB’s growing role in fostering collaboration between education, industry, and community — ensuring Kerry continues to thrive as a hub of talent, innovation, and sustainable growth for the future.

Kerry Association Honours Award Winners at Dublin Banquet

The Kerry Association in Dublin celebrated its annual awards banquet on Saturday, October 18th, 2025, at the Louis Fitzgerald Hotel, where David Walsh was named Kerry Person of the Year, and the Kerry Senior Football Team, management, and Kerry GAA received the 2025 Laochra Chiarraí Award.

David Walsh, founder of Netwatch and HaloCare, was recognised for his entrepreneurial leadership and lifelong commitment to community and social wellbeing. A native of Cordal, Walsh has become an inspirational figure both in business and philanthropy. In her tribute, Mary Shanahan, Cathaoirleach of the Kerry Association, described him as “a proud Kerry man whose quiet leadership, generosity, and deep community spirit reflect the very soul of our county.” Association President Brigid Laffan added that his achievements embody “all that is best about Kerry.”

In accepting the honour, Walsh said, “This award belongs to the community that shaped me and to all who keep the Kerry spirit alive, wherever they are in the world.”

The Laochra Chiarraí Award went to the Kerry Senior Football Team, their management, and Kerry GAA, recognising their outstanding performances and contribution to Gaelic games. Shanahan praised the team’s “tradition written in green and gold,” representing every parish and player who carries the county’s pride.

Accepting the award, Patrick O’Sullivan, Chairman of Kerry GAA, said, “This recognition belongs to every club, player, volunteer, and supporter in Kerry and beyond. Wherever you are, this honour is yours.”

Now in its 44th year, the Kerry Person of the Year Awards continue to celebrate the people and organisations who bring pride, leadership, and inspiration to the Kingdom of Kerry.
