Wine review

Pasqua Montepulciano d’Abruzzo

'The name Pasqua stands for wines, vineyards, deep relationship with the land.Founded in 1925 in Verona, Pasqua Vigneti e Cantine was born of the Family’s love for Valpolicella. Three generations of people with a Veronese heart and an international soul, sharing the same great passion: viticulture and the production of unique wines, rst in Veneto and then also in the Italian regions of the most renowned DOC'. Pasqua Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is a full-bodied red with marked yet gentle tannins and an average level of alcohol, which displays hints of ripe fruits such as blackberries and morello cherries as well as spicy notes.Excellent structure, harmonious and a bit tannic, typical characteristic of this grape variety.

Excellent with red meat dishes.

New Tralee website to reduce election posters

The European and Local Elections take place on Friday, May 24th and candidates will erect an estimated half a million posters on telephone poles and lamp posts across the country. Most of these posters will end up in landfill after the elections, with little regard given to the plastic epidemic gripping the world. To try to solve this problem a new website called candidates.ie has been launched by NoteCloud, a small technology company based in Tralee. The website aims to make it easier for voters to find out about the candidates contesting the elections.

Commenting on the launch, NoteCloud founder Brian

Stephenson said “We are involved in a number of environment and community clean-up projects locally and the issue of election posters has been raised more than once. We decided to try to solve this by building a userfriendly online directory and inviting candidates to create profiles and give a little info about themselves and their ideas.”

Candidates.ie is described as a social business designed to promote, encourage and make positive social change. All revenues are reinvested into the business or used to start other social businesses.

“We run a number of other social businesses including www.learnfromleaders.ie and

urged to enter InterTradeIreland’s Seedcorn Investor Readiness competition

The largest business competition of its kind, Seedcorn offers a total cash prize fund of €280,000, with €100,000 earmarked for the overall winner. Since its inception in 2003, the total awarded to innovative companies stands at €4.5 million.

As well as the chance to win a substantial cash prize, entrants will benefit from guidance, advice and feedback from business experts, investors and other entrepreneurs through a series of business planning workshops and mentorship

support throughout the competition.

Seedcorn entrants from Munster have historically performed well at the competition with a range of healthcare, engineering and technology businesses through to last year’s regional final.

Shane O’Hanlon, Funding for Growth Manager, InterTradeIreland: “Kerry is a hub of innovative business talent and we are keen that local start-ups and up-andcoming companies take advantage of the Seedcorn

competition, responsible for many of the biggest success stories we have seen at InterTradeIreland.

“The support Seedcorn has given to new start and early stage businesses goes beyond the €4.5 million cash funding. It includes the invaluable advice from industry experts and the wider investment community designed to help these young companies refine their business plans and improve their pitches to potential investors.”

InterTradeIreland will host

a free workshop in Kerry at the end of the month aimed at helping those who are considering applying for this year’s Seedcorn competition to prepare their entries. The closing date for entries is Friday 31 May at 13:00.

HELLO BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE!

I HOPE YOU’RE HAVING AN AMAZING WEEK!

This week I’m talking all things makeup tools! When I started doing my own makeup I literally used my fingers to apply foundation and eyeshadow for a good while, I couldn’t even imagine doing that now. Insane. When it comes to a perfect makeup application you need three things, 1) a good base 2) good tools 3) good products. Today I’m going to talk all about my favourite makeup tools and brands that I recommend. The brushes/tools that I mention are my 100% ride or die ones, ones that I ALWAYS use and completely recommend.

THE BEAUTY BLENDER

If you haven’t applied your makeup with a beauty blender, you are seriously missing out. SERIOUSLY. And I’m not talking about the brands that made dupes of the beauty blender, I’m talking about The Original Beauty Blender! It gives your makeup an amazing flawless finish, it can be used for foundation, concealer, cream contour, or even to blend powder bronzer. Makeup By Mario also used Beauty blenders throughout his entire Masterclass, he swears by them! All you have to do is squeeze it in water to dampen it and then bounce it on your face to apply whichever product. You can get it on BeautyBay for €20 with free delivery.

ECOTOOLS ANGLED FACE BRUSH

I use this, and only this, for my bronzer absolutely errrrryday, or every time I wear makeup at least. I don’t have many EcoTools brushes, but I must get more because they are such great quality. Like I’ve had that bronzer brush at least 2 years now and it’s still perfect. EcoTools is also Vegan friendly, which is awesome.

BLANK CANVAS F08

Again, it is used to apply foundation to the face, it is very dense which means it gives great coverage and also doesn’t store lots of product. So if you’re a bit apprehensive about the beauty blender and are looking for an amazing foundation brush, this is for you! I actually have like 7 of them, some for my own personal use and one for my makeup kit for clients.

BLANK CANVAS E20 BLENDING BRUSH

I’m an OG Blank Canvas Cosmetics fan, I have been talking about and using their products since the beginning. Literally. I absolutely love this brush for blending, it’s insaaaaaaane.

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS DUO SIDED BROW BRUSH

You all know that ABH is my brow brand, I use nothing else on them. The spoolie/ brush side is used to comb through the brows and the angled side is the perfect size to apply product with precision. You

So those are my absolute favourite brushes/tools. I have multiples of all of them and simply couldn’t do my makeup without them. As for brands, if you go for EcoTools, Blank Canvas Cosmetics, Morphe or Real Techniques you’ll be safe. You don’t have to get the most expensive brushes out there for them to be good, all of the brands and brushes I mentioned are mostly under €20. Also, it is VERY VERY VERY important to take care of your brushes and clean them REGULARLY!!!! Especially foundation brushes, you wouldn’t even believe the bacteria they collect. To clean them just use luke warm(not hot) water and any form of shampoo, baby shampoo is good, I recommend a scented version so your brushes smell fab. If you use hot water it will melt the glue on your brush and the hairs will fall out.

Joint Health

A joint is the place where the ends of two bones meet. In a healthy joint these ends are separated from each other by a layer of cartilage that prevents them from rubbing together. There are a few ways in which things can go wrong in the joint. The cartilage that should buffer the ends of the joints can be worn away. This is primarily wear and tear damage, and can be caused by sporting activities, jobs demanding high levels of physical activity or being overweight. The ends of the bones then rub painfully together causing inflammation and pain. (sometimes the bones go on to fuse together, causing immobility of the joint). This type of damage is usually identified as OSTEOARTHRITIS. The ends of the bones, the cartilage and the membrane around the joint can all be attacked by the body’s immune system if it goes wrong and starts mistaking the body’s own tissue as enemies. This is known as an autoimmune disease, and is identified as RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS. As the immune system is pretty good at attacking what it thinks are bugs and germs, the joints and surrounding tissues can become severely damaged. Arthritic-type pain can also be caused by uric acid and calcium crystals being deposited in joints, causing pain as they get in between the ends of the bones and may be identified as GOUT or a gouty form of arthritis. All of the above involve inflammation, which creates heat, swelling and pain. Getting the inflammation under control will reduce pain levels and lessen the damage being done to the joint and surrounding tissues. Certain foods may increase pain and stiffness. Avoid saturated animal fats, keeping your intake of red meats, dairy products and eggs to a minimum. Oily fish such as mackerel, salmon and sardines have a positive effect on inflammation. Take a fish oil supplement such as ESKIMO OIL or MOREPA if you don’t eat fish regularly. Green leafy vegetables, oats, sunflower and sesame seeds are all rich in MAGNESIUM which helps muscles to relax. People with low magnesium levels tend to feel more pain

generally. Should you feel the need to take a magnesium supplement check out SOLO (one a day), NATURES PLUS or VIRIDIAN.

SOME OTHER NATURAL SUPPLEMENTS THAT MAY HELP INCLUDE:

ARNICA: anti-inflammatory, joint pain, sprains and strains and bruising

DEVILS CLAW: anti-inflammatory, joint pain and back pain.

GLUCOSAMINE: helps to maintain and renew one of the major constituents of cartilage, the layer of buffering material that should be found between the ends of the joints but can be damaged or worn away. Take 1500mg per day.

ZINCUFLEX: contains ginger and curcumin to alleviate inflammation, stiffness and pain with added vitamin C which contributes to normal function of bone and cartilage.

REVIVE ACTIVE JOINTS: a unique combination of specific nutrients to tackle bone and connective tissue issues. Joint complex is unique in it deals with the issues plus the causes. World record holder of women’s marathon, Paula Radcliff, is a fan of this product and has said “for years I have struggled with Arthritis in my foot. I take REVIVE ACTIVE JOINT and now there is a lot less joint stiffness in the morning and a lot less swelling at the end of the day.

Until next time, stay healthy.

Deirdre

BEXBLAHFITNESS!

HELLO MY STRONG FRIENDS

I hope you’re all having an amazing week!

Most people consistent with what they want, instead they set themselves unrealistic goals that they ‘have to’ reach within a certain amount of time. As January comes to an end we need to strive to be consistent for the rest of 2019 & therefore we won’t have the same goal in January 20

Rather than doing this torture to yourself, try something else… try to be consistent. Being consistent means knowing what you have to do, little by little, day in and day out, to reach your goals. It means that if you ‘mess up’ that you just go back to being consistent straight away. It’s all about balance and consistently doing what needs to be done.

There’s nothing wrong with being a bit more relaxed when it comes to all things health and fitness related, I’ve come to realise that being 100% on track 100% of the time for me personally, is not living. BUT. For the next 12 weeks I want to be consistent and see what results I can achieve.

Maybe you have some area of your life where you’re putting in some of the work sometimes, so you’re not reaching your full potential because you’re not consistent. This is your sign, be consistent, put in the work you know needs to be put in.

CURRENT FAVOURITE WORKOUT

I’ve been really into doing full body workouts at the gym lately, just to change it up! Here’s my current favourite workout.

WARMUP - HIIT sprints (20 secs on 40 secs off for 10-15 mins)

WORKOUT - Weighted step ups 3 sets of 10 each leg Kettlebell swings 3 sets of 10 each arm

Sumo Squats 3 sets of 10

Walking Lunges 3 sets of 10

GRACE FIT UK UPPER BODY SET

• Bicep curl

• Hammer curl

• 2 arm tricep extension

• Underhand kickback

• Arnold Press

• Bent over one arm delt raise

• Upright row

• Front raise

Then sometimes after the workout to cool down I do 10 mins uphill walking.

The Magic of Herbs on the BBQ !

Did you know that the style of oil and herbs on meat of a charcoal grill comes from Tuscany in Italy . This is a very tasty way to add delicious flavour to your barbeque. We are lucky here in Ireland in that we have an abundance of herbs to choose from here See are some of your favourites below and let me know what you think .

TUSCAN-STYLE VEAL CHOPS Serves 4

INGREDIENTS

• 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for drizzling

• 2 garlic cloves, minced

• 1 tablespoon rosemary leaves

• 1/4 cup sage leaves

• Four 12-ounce veal rib chops, cut 1 inch thick

• Salt and freshly ground black pepper

METHOD

Light a charcoal grill. On a platter, mix the 2 tablespoons of olive oil with the garlic, rosemary and sage. Season the veal chops with salt and black pepper and drizzle generously with olive oil. Grill the chops over moderately high heat, turning once, about 6 minutes per side for medium. Transfer the chops to the platter and turn to coat with the olive oil and herbs. Generously drizzle the veal with olive oil and let stand for 3 minutes, turning the chops a few times. Spoon the juices and oil over the chops and serve.

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS: EUROPEAN HEALTH INSURANCE CARD

Question

I’ve just booked my summer holidays for this year and plan to travel around Europe with my partner and my 10-year old son. How do I make sure we have access to public healthcare while travelling?

Answer

Each member of your family will need a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). This card allows you to access public healthcare service in another EU or European Economic Area (EEA) state for free, or at a reduced cost. (The EHIC was formerly known as the E111 form).

All member states of the EU are covered by the card, along with Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.

The EHIC card is free of charge and you can make an application for yourself, your partner and any dependent children under the age of 16. You have two options to apply:

• If you already have a medical card or Drugs Payment Scheme card, you can apply online for your EHIC at ehic.ie.

• Or, you can download an application form from ehic.ie or get one from your Local Health Office. You need to provide your name, address, date of birth and Personal Public Service Number (PPSN).

• ALL APPLE PRODUCTS FIXED IPHONES; IPADS;

•

•

•

•

TORQUING CARS!

VOLVOS WILL COMMUNICATE WITH EACH OTHER SOON .

Volvo car owners will soon receive information on upcoming road hazards from other vehicles via their GPS.Information will be shared through Volvo’s cloud-based system which is used by all new vehicles made by the Swedish firm. This will then be used to inform drivers if they are heading towards a potentially dangerous stretch of road and allow them to adjust their driving accordingly. If a car detects a hazard - such as a pot-hole or a slippery road - it will flag it to other road users on their own GPS system. The system will be coming to Volvo vehicles across Europe and the UK later this week after successful trials in Sweden and Norway dating back to 2016. Volvo is pioneering a range of safety-orientated technology designed to decrease accident frequency. The Swedish car manufacturer has already implemented a plan to limit the top speeds of some of their cars to just 112mph (180kph) as well as installing cameras into its cars to detect if the driver is drunk. If it detects the driver is under the influence of alcohol or drugs it can then take control of the vehicle, reduce its speed and safely bring it to a stop on the side of the road. Volvo’s latest initiative would use the GPS systems of the cars and in-built sensors to detect any road issues and records its location. Volvo has also developed a system known as ‘hazard light alert’.This sends a similar warning to nearby cars and is triggered when the driver presses the hazard light in their car in the event of an accident of on-road obstacle. Other cars will then receive this warning to inform the drivers of a potential risk up ahead.

TOYOTA’S PRIUS IS NAMED BEST NEW CAR TO OWN - BUT VAUXHALL’S ASTRA IS MOST LIKELY TO MAKE YOU SAD.

The Toyota Prius is a firm favourite among eco-conscious celebrities and cabbies - but a new report suggests more of us should be considering the hybrid-powered Japanese model. That’s because it has been voted the most satisfying new vehicle to own in an industry-leading survey of 14,000 UK car drivers. Prius drivers gave their motors a 93.22 per cent rating in the latest edition of Auto Express’ Driver Power study - more than any other new car reported on. Vauxhall’s Astra - a model that’s suffered a slowdown in popularity in recent years - took the unwanted crown of being the least satisfying new model to own. The world’s best-selling hybrid car was voted the model most likely to make motorists happy. While it’s a common sight on UK roads, many are being used by taxi firms and Uber drivers thanks to its green credentials. The family car is claimed to return between 58.8 and 67.2mpg and emits just 85g/km of carbon dioxide in official tests thanks to its combination of petrol engine and electric motors.

Incredibly, six of the top ten finishers are available as hybrid, plug-in hybrid or fully-electric models, indicating that once drivers make the move away from models powered solely by internal combustion engines, they are very happy indeed.

PHONES AT WHEEL: GARDAI SEE 24PC

INCREASE IN DETECTIONS SO FAR THIS YEAR

‘Speaking on a phone while driving increases the driver’s reaction time and mental workload, and changes his or her visual overview ability as well as understanding of the situation.’Those were the conclusions, and pretty obvious ones too, of a 2018 study from Vilnius Gediminas Technical University. While it’s not hard to accept those findings, we are still seeing many drivers using the roads with either a phone to their ear or their head down, clearly looking at the screen on their device. While our own RSA observational studies suggest that anywhere between 6-8pc of drivers are using a phone while driving it does not take account of the number of drivers who are texting while driving.Despite the warnings, the threat of penalty points and the constant reminders of the dangers, some people are still refusing to heed the message.A message that is clear and simple: mobile phones are detrimental to good driving practice.Simply put, they are the biggest distraction for drivers on our road networks.Despite the fact that using them when driving is probably killing people on Irish roads, rational, intelligent people continue to text, make phone calls, take selfies or update their social pages while driving.International research has found that using a hand-held phone to make a call will make you four times more likely to crash.Texting, tweeting, or messaging increases the risk substantially. In fact, you are a staggering 23 times more likely to be involved in a collision. From January to February 2019 there were 4,905 fixed charge notices handed out by gardaí for mobile phone offences. This compares with 3,963 in the first two months of 2018.

This represents an increase of 942 detections - a 24pc increase on the same period last year.Clearly, the gardaí are working hard to stamp out the practice, and this should serve as a warning to those people who still are not listening.Almost 80,000 penalty-point notices have been issued to drivers up to the end of February for using a mobile phone while driving. If the gardaí charge you with a mobile and driving offence, you face a fixed charged notice of €60 and three penalty points on your driving licence. If you choose not to pay the fixed charge and are then subsequently convicted in court, you’ll face five penalty points and a fine of up to €2,000.In addition, remember, if you get 12 penalty points in a three-year period, you face a six-month disqualification from driving. As far as consequences go, the financial pain of a fine pales in comparison to the real possibility of physical pain resulting from a crash. If you take your eyes off the road for just one second, a car moving at 50kmh will travel 14 metres - that’s approximately four car lengths.

In years to come we may look back on people using mobile phones while driving as a bizarre period in our social history, but right now the danger is very much there - every hour of every day.

A LAWYER JUST BOUGHT A NEW PORSCHE...

He decides to park it in front of his offices to show it off. As he is exiting the vehicle a truck comes along and sheers of the drivers side door.

The lawyer begins screaming at the truck driver. “You stupid man! You’ve ruined my brand new car! Where did you get your license? How did you not see me? Are you bloody blind? Do you have any idea how much this is going to cost?”

He goes on like this for several minutes until his energy finally starts to flag. The truck driver sees his opportunity and says to the lawyer, “Please sir, you have to calm down. Your so angry that I don’t think you realize that my truck also took off your arm.” The lawyer looks down at where his arm used to be and screams out “My Rolex!!!”

TWO YOUNG BROTHERS DECIDE ITS TIME THEY START CUSSING.

So one night the elder makes a plan, “this morning at breakfast, I’ll say damn and you say feck” the younger agrees and they go to bed eager for the next morning.

Breakfast time comes and their mother ask what they’d like to eat. The older brother says “I’d like some damn cheerios!”

The mother slaps him so hard he’s knocked out of his seat. She turns to the younger and says “well what about you?” He says “well I’m sure as feck not asking for cheerios.”

He says “well I’m sure as fuck not asking for cheerios.”

A DRUGS SQUAD OFFICER STOPPED AT A FARM

...near Bradford, and talked with an old farmer. He told the farmer, “I need to inspect your farm for illegally grown drugs.”

The farmer said, “Okay, but don’t go in that field over there...”, as he pointed out the location.

The drugs squad officer verbally exploded saying, “Mister, I have the authority of the Government with me.”

Reaching into his rear trouser pocket, he removed his badge and proudly displayed it to the farmer.

“See this badge?! This badge means I am allowed to go wherever I wish. On any land!! No questions asked or answers given!! Have I made myself clear. Do you understand?”

The old farmer nodded politely, apologized, and went about his chores.

A short time later, the old farmer heard loud screams, looked up, and saw the drugs squad officer running for his life, being chased by the farmer’s big ferocious-looking bull.

With every step the bull was gaining ground on the officer, and it seemed likely that he’d sure enough get gored before he reached safety. The officer was clearly terrified.

The old farmer threw down his tools, ran to the fence and shouted at the top of his lungs, “Your badge!! Show him your BADGE!!”

FAI NATIONAl P.R.O. OF THE YEAR

CYCLING SEASON REALLY UNDERWAY NOW:

Sometimes you go to a sports event and you see a new name that you say you must keep an eye on. In Listowel when Germany play Ireland at u16 level Mario Gotze and Ter Stagen played and both went on to have huge international careers.

At this weeks Kerry Groups Ras Mumhan we saw a rider who belied his young age to put in a superb winning performance in his first senior stage race. Ben Healy who is just under 19 and born in Birmingham of Waterford parents looks to be a huge prospect and one that we will certainly be keeping an eye on.

The event was a huge success with over 150 riders starting out on Friday and nearly 140 crossed the finish line on Easter Monday after 500km. This is a big step up for the Kerry riders who all acquitted themselves well including the Tralee Manor West team.

Killarney Richard Maes was the top Kerry finisher in 11th place riding for the Strata 3 Velorevulotion team just one place ahead of Conor Kissane who was with the Irish team alongside the winner. There was a huge number of people involved in making the race what it was and they all deserve to take a bow.

Staying with cycling and the action this Sunday moves to the John Drumm 1 day race in Currow. This race, named in memory of Johnny Drumm who passed away in a farming accident in 1966, always attracts a top class field.

The County Leagues, Time Trials and new Hill Climb Leagues will get underway in the coming weeks as cycling comes to the fore as one of the summer sports in the county.

TRALEE THE IDEA VENUE FOR COMMUNITY GAMES MUNSTER FINALS:

Kerry Community Games were the first to showcase the new sports complex at the IT Tralee which played host to a number of Munster finals. Also in use at the weekend was the Sports Complex, Cumann Iosef and Scoil Eoin Balloonagh. After a great day of competition Kerry won 8 gold medals with these athletes going forward to the National finals in UL – Ballyheigue U16 Draughts, Castleisland Basketball who had a great day winning the u11 mixed, u13 boys, u13 mixed and u16 girls, Firies u13 girls in Indoor soccer and Listowel who took the boys and girls badminton titles.

There was hard luck for the Spa /

Fenit /Barrow as their u10 indoor soccer boys and u16 chess teams took silver medals.

Tralee will host a second round of Provincial finals on Saturday July 6th.

ANOTHER TROPHY IN PAT’S CABINET:

When Pat Price came in to replace Mark Bernsen as the coach of the Garvey’s Tralee Warriors he knew he was joining an ambitious franchise. Since their return to SuperLeague two seasons before they had won the Champions Trophy on both occasions.

Price came with a big reputation including coaching at international level,. And he has certainly proved to be the perfect choice as he led the Tralee team to basketball’s ultimate League prize. And now he has won the BI National League Coach of the Year. The award was voted for by the Men’s National League Committee so said that it was in recognition of Pat coaching his side to a memorable end to the season with their unbeaten run seeing them bring the title back to Tralee.

KERRY INTER COUNTY TEAMS DO WELL:

Kerry had a number of inter League sides in the Inter Regional Invitation Tournament with 24 regional teams in action in UL. The u14 Girls lost out to North Munster in the semi-final by a heart breaking 1 point 37-36. The u14 Boys defeated the Midlands in their semi-final 55-32 but went down to Cork in the final 35-23.

The u17 Girls lost out to Midlands 39-24 in their semi-final while the u17 Boys were in an All Kerry semifinal when the beat the Kerry 16’s 50-40. But they lost out to Cork in another nailbiter 49-50.

GIRLS SOCCER ACADEMY COMING SOON AT PARK FC:

Christy Leahy Park was buzzing over Easter with the St Brendan’s Park Soccer Sisters Camp where a sold-out camp was enjoyed by all the girls. While some were new to the game all showed great skill, determination and most importantly a willingness to develop their love of the game. They will train again this Saturday at 12 noon and everyone that registered for the Soccer Sisters Camp is welcome to come along. The Easter Camp was run under the auspices of FAI RDO for Kerry Darren Aherne alongside coordinators for the Park Preston McEvoy and Colm McLoughlin with Roisin Meehan, Liam Moylan, Jonathan Conway, Mike McCannon and Kieran O’Donovan responsible for the coaching.

Everyone in soccer was delighted when the club entered an u16 Girls team in the League and they certainly acquitted themselves well in their debut season.

Now the Park intends to start a girl’s only Soccer Academy to follow on from the interest generated by the Soccer Sisters program. They are looking for help so please contact Preston McEvoy at 087 1471288 if you can help with coaching and organizing girls training sessions. The club will provide full support to those who volunteer.

If you wish to enroll your daughter in our soccer academy please text Preston your daughter’s name, date of birth and the full name of a parent. The academy is for girls aged 5-11.

LEAGUE OF IRELAND CORNER:

Three of the four Kerry sides are in League of Ireland action with the u19’s having another weeks break. The u17’s will welcome Carlow/ Kilkenny to Mounthawk Park on Sunday in the Southern section where all the 12 teams are in action.

Kerry will be looking to bounce back immediately from their loss to Cork who deserved to win the game but probably not 5-0 as Kerry played a lot of good football. This has them in joint second place behind the unbeaten Shamrock Rovers who are on 21 points. Kerry are on 12 from their 7 games tied with Cork while their opponents are 3 points further back. While the visitors lost out to Cobh Ramblers last time out they did beat Cork the week before so will be difficult opponents. The u13’s and u15’s both go to Galway for a double header following on from the reverse fixture in Mounthawk Park before Easter. Both games are on in Drom with the 15’s in 3rd place in the table on 9 points behind Galway who have 10 points and Cork who lead the way on 12 from 5 games.

The 13’s were very unlucky not to have taken all three points form their last game against Galway who equalised in the last minute. They are in 4th on 4 points but have a game in hand on Galway who have 7 points, Limerick on 9 and Cork who are the best team in their Division and who are unbeaten in their 5 games.

KERRY 12’S GIRLS AIM TO MAKE IT BACK TO BACK TRIPS TO THE GAYNOR:

The Kerry u12 Girls did very well last year in qualifying for the 12’s Gaynor semi-finals which take part in the FAI Gaynor Girls Festival of Football in UL in June. To qualify Kerry must top their groups as only the top team in the 4 qualifiers – 22 Leagues – make it to UL at the end of June.

Kerry qualifier is on in Lees Road, just outside of Ennis and they will play Clare at 1.30, North Tipperary at 2.25, Galway kicking off at 3.30 and their final game against Limerick Desmond at 4.35pm.

EGGS ON HOLD FOR TRALEE BOXERS: To get to the top level of any sports takes dedication and some sacrifices. And that was the case for 4 young Tralee Boxers. The 11 and 12 year olds put their Easter Eggs away for a while as they worked out in the ring ahead of the All Ireland championships that will take next weekend.

Best of luck to Mary McDonagh, Ellen Burke, Willy Faulkner and Ainle Foley who will represent Kerry and Munster in the National Stadium and will hopefully bring home some All Ireland titles.

KERRY GIRLS HEAD TO LAOIS FOR THEIR DECIDER:

The Kerry camogie squad will head to Crettyard in County Laois this Saturday April 27th at 2pm where they will take on Tyrone in the All Ireland Minor C Camogie Championship final. Best of luck to the team and management and hopefully a large crowd of supporters will travel to cheer on the girls.

They were due to play Kerins O’Rahillys in mid-week. The 16’s were due to play Churchill.

In the Kerry Petroleum Junior Premier Club Football Championship Group 4 Round 3 it ended 0-14 to 1-11 away to St Senans. The point was enough to see the South Kerry side progress to the semi-finals of the competition. The seniors have guaranteed their Junior Premier status for next year’s championship.

KERINS O’RAHILLYS NEWS:

The seniors put in a great effort in their clash against the Killarney king-pins but in the end it was Dr Crokes that took the points on a 1-18 to 1-14 score-line. The Tralee side were missing their Kerry players and then lost Sean Walsh in the warm-up. A strong end to the first half saw the Crokes pull back the Rahillys lead and went in 1-9 to 0-08 up.
