Swimtastic Award On the 18th October 2014 Trafford Community Leisure Trust attended the Finals of the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) Swimtastic awards at the Hilton Hotel, Birmingham NEC. The Trusts brand, Swim Well, had been short listed for the coveted Local Facility Operator of the Year Award for their outstanding contribution to aquatic participation over the past 12 months.

Greater Manchester Sports Awards CONGRATULATIONS to Craig McNeil Craig is an International swimmer and para triathlete who swims for Trafford Metro Borough Swimming Club and Swim Trafford Performance Swimming Squad. He has already achieved his lifetime personal best at the final of the British International Swimming Championships in Manchester. He gets up at 4:30 four mornings a week to train and then goes on to attend College during the day. He is determined to achieve his dream of competing at the Paralympics. Craig attended the Greater Manchester Sports Awards night on Friday 7th November 2014. The event was sponsored by PZ Cussons and was held at the Point, Emirates Old Trafford with Guest Speaker - Iwan Thomas MBE, Olympic Silver Medal and World Championships Gold Medallist. Craig was one of Trafford’s representatives and our only winner of the night, winning the Disabled Sports Achiever of the year award. In Craig’s words, “This was very unexpected and when being asked how I felt when I got to the stage for a small interview, I was astonished, as this was a big surprise for me and unexpected. This is what all of our younger swimmers can inspire to be; and aspire to win. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication, from parents getting up in the early mornings to take us swimming; to be able for me to attend this event and be able to achieve and aspire to reach my full potential. This also takes a lot of hard work from parents on getting me organised and generally being a motivator, and especially the coaches who are sometimes taken for granted in their daily job. They work hard to get the best out of you which deserves a mention as it is not just the athletes, it’s parents, coaches and also swimmers who you spend a lot of your time with who motivate you in the hard swimming training sets. Thank you”
