Open House

We invite you to stop by the weekend before the sale, February 28 and March 1, 2026, at McMurphy Farms to view the cattle. We will be available all weekend to discuss the bulls and show you around.

Welcome to the Sale

Welcome friends to the12th Annual Trusted Performance Bull Sale. The relationship with Lott Farms and McMurphy Farms began almost 2 decades ago while in a school suburban headed to a livestock judging contest. Teammates then, throughout college and still today make this a special event for both Farms. We have also been long-time family friends with the Goss family and are excited that they are a part of this great event. We are all in the commercial cattle business ourselves and therefore we are focused on raising bulls that will add value to your operation. Our goal is to produce bulls that balance genetic statistics with visual correctness and that is why you will find similarities in the type and kind of bulls offered on March 3, 2026.

Since our beginning we have had some outstanding customers and we understand there are many options when it comes to buying bulls. We truly value your loyalty and to prove it we have made a simple return-customer rebate for you. So, if you purchased a bull in 2025 and you return for a bull in 2026 you will receive a 6% discount on bull purchases. This will happen every year so long as you purchase a bull the previous year. To reiterate, we continue to be committed and will continue to seek opportunities to thank our customers and provide opportunities to better serve you. We will continue to support and bring value to you beyond your purchase so that we can grow together.

We hope you enjoy the offering and find something that will help you move your program forward. Just as you continue to progress we do the same. We have had a few Simmental bulls for sale the last couple of years, but this year we have a few more to choose from that we think are really good. Our intentions are to bring you options that will add some heterosis to your programs. If you would like to view the bulls before sale day give us a call or come out the weekend before the sale. Cattle will be on display and we'd be happy to answer your questions. Please also keep us in mind when you are ready to market your offspring next year and we will be glad to help you garner that extra value for your calves.

Thank you again for taking a look at what our programs have to offer and if there’s not one for you this year please think of us again next year when considering a new herd sire for your bull battery.

Sincerely,

The Trusted Performance Sale Group

Genetic Selection Information

Below you will find descriptions of the EPD Data listed in this sale catalog.

Expected Progeny Difference (EPD), is the prediction of how future progeny of each animal are expected to perform relative to the progeny of other animals listed in the database. EPDs are expressed in units of measure for the trait, plus or minus. Interim EPDs may appear on young animals when their performance has yet to be incorporated into the American Angus Association National Cattle Evaluation (NCE) procedures. This EPD will be preceded by an “I”, and may or may not include the animal’s own performance record for a particular trait, depending on its availability, appropriate contemporary grouping, or data edits needed for NCE.

Calving Ease Direct (CED), predicts the probability of calves being born unassisted out of 2-year-old heifers. It predicts the average difference in ease with which a sire’s calves will be born when he is bred to first-calf heifers.

Birth Weight EPD (BW), predicts the difference, in pounds, for birth weight, and is also used in the calculation of Calving Ease Direct (CED) EPD.

Weaning Weight EPD (WW), predicts the difference, in pounds, for weaning weight (adjusted to age of dam and a standard 205 days of age). This is an indicator of growth from birth to weaning.

Yearling Weight EPD (YW), predicts the expected difference, in pounds, for yearling weight (adjusted to a standard 365 days of age). This is an indicator of growth from birth to yearling.

Milk EPD (Milk), is a predictor of a sire’s genetic merit for milk and mothering ability as expressed in his daughters compared to daughters of other sires. In other words, it is that part of a calf’s weaning weight attributed to milk and mothering ability.

Calving Ease Maternal (CEM), predicts the probability of a given animal's daughters calving unassisted at two years of age.

Marbling EPD (Marb), predicts differences for carcass marbling score as expressed in marbling score units. Higher marbling scores are positively correlated with higher carcass quality grades.

Ribeye Area EPD (REA), predicts differences of carcass Rib Eye Area between the 12th and 13th rib. Increased Rib Eye Area has a beneficial effect on Yield Grade which also includes Carcass Weight and Fat Thickness.

Red Angus Specific Epd’s

Stayability (STAY) predicts the probability of a bull’s daughters remaining productive until at least six years of age. This is a selection tool to improve overall cowherd efficiency through reducing replacement rate. Cows that stay productive, are problem free and last longer mean a larger percentage of heifers can be cash cropped, instead of developed as replacements. STAY predicts the probability of a bull’s daughters remaining productive until at least six years of age.

HerdBuilder (HB), Producers selecting bulls to develop profitable replacement females and maximize the value of non-replacement marketed progeny should incorporate the HerdBuilder Index into their selection decisions. This Index focuses on Stayability, Heifer Pregnancy and Calving Ease but also factors in carcass based traits and growth indicators.

GridMaster (GM), Use the GridMaster Index if your primary goal is maximizing profitability of feeders in the feedyard and on the rail. Marbling, Yield Grade and growth EPDs are the traits of primary importance in the GridMaster Index.

Angus Specific Epd’s

Combined Value ($C), an index, expressed in dollars per head, which includes all traits that make up both Maternal Weaned Calf Value ($M) and Beef Value ($B) with the objective that commercial producers will replace 20% of their breeding females per year with replacement heifers retained within their own herd. The remaining cull heifer and steer progeny are then assumed to be sent to the feedlot where the producers retain ownership of those cattle and sell them on a quality-based carcass merit grid. Expected progeny differences (EPDs) directly influencing a combined index: calving ease direct (CED) and maternal (CEM), weaning weight (WW), yearling weight (YW), maternal milk (Milk), heifer pregnancy (HP), docility (DOC), mature cow weight (MW), foot angle (Angle), claw set (Claw), dry matter intake (DMI), marbling (Marb), carcass weight (CW), ribeye area (RE) and fat thickness (Fat).

LOT 70

We are starting off the purebred section with what we think is a combination bull. 5231 is out of PIE Quarterback, which is really rare to find semen, and out of a Gravity cow that Reece successfully campaigned. This bull not only fits into the calving ease directory, but also has the growth numbers to breed to mature cows and raise those pound makers. We also feel that if you want to raise replacement females this bull fits into that category as well. Study this guy at the ground as he is ideal in his foot shape and the angle to his pastern is elite.

A bull that has the performance, with a weaning weight of over 700lbs, but yet has a calving ease pedigree with a CED of 14. This is what we are looking for in a herd bull, light at birth and heavy at weaning. Better find this one on sale day.

A huge spread from birth to weaning with the pedigree to back it up. The dam of this calf ranks in the top 5% of the breed for both weaning and yearling weights. You will search many miles to find a true calving ease sire that doesn’t sacrifice the growth we all want.

MF HEAD GAMES 5184

A soggy middled, moderately framed calving ease bull that has the feet and legs to travel all the distance needed to cover plenty of heifers. This Headgames bull calf is out of a feminine headed, beautifully uddered cow and I expect those traits will be passed onto his progeny.

This is the first calf crop out of WD Extra for us. A bull out of a cow that was a staple for our operation. This bull is so interesting to me in so many ways. I just love his eye appeal and balance. A bull that sets high in the top of his shoulder blade and comes so square out of his hip. He has huge feet and legs that will support his longevity. He also offers a very set of balanced EPD’S with a nice spread from

These next two bulls are sired by Tango and the 161 donor cow that we own with Scott Day. Two bulls that are somewhat different in type in kind, but are similar as they are both really good. 4169 has a little more length and stretch to him, along with a shot more power. 400 is a more moderately framed bull that is super soggy and easy keeping. Both bulls are super soft in their pasterns and have a good round shape to their feet.

A Red Label son out of our Hard Drive donor cow is one that you need to find. One of the youngest bulls in the offering, but will no doubt be a stud as a two year old. Probably the most progressive numbered bull in the offering. He ranks in the top 6% for Pro S, top 5% for HB, top 30% GM, top 14% WW and top 17% YW and not to mention he is in the top 6% for Stayability and top 11% CW. We don’t generally get hung up on numbers around here, but this thing has it all and is easy to look at. If you truly want to raise replacement females with perfect udders, I would not hold back on this one.

MF GPAR QUARTERBACK 5404

As we continue to pursue the Simm/Angus breeding, this Quarterback son is one that we have loved from day one. 5404 has all the pieces to fit many programs. Not only is his presence in the pen easily noticed, but his pedigree is going to be hard to come by as well. With the Quarterback semen bringing well over $500 a straw, these Quarterback sons are going to be hard to find. If you want growth and the ability to build females for retaining, you better look real hard at this guy.

MF GPAR QUARTERBACK 5260

This dark red bull continues to impress us each day. This is a bigger framed bull that has the added growth we are looking for with this cross, along with the length and flexibility to adapt to any terrain.

Most the time when we think of Simmental cattle we generally don’t think about calving ease. We really wanted to test that theory and believe we have accomplished true Simm/Angus heifer worthy bulls in Lots 109 and 110. 5403 and 5394 are out of a true calving ease sire, PIE Fusion, that we have been using for several years as a heifer bull. This Red Label son is an absolute beast. He has big boned and huge footed. I guess we all have this perception that Lot 1 is always the best bull in the offering. Well, I can tell you that we don’t set up our catalog that way and here is the proof. This bald face bull is a beast and I actually think it is fitting that he rounds out the catalog, knowing he will be the last bull on your mind. If you look at this bull and don’t get excited, then we might not see cattle the same way. He has been a standout since birth and his presence is not unnoticed. This bull needs to go to a progressive cattleman that only wants to sell the heaviest calves at weaning and raise the best replacement females.
