Alien Invasion Props Seven and Emily

Ideas:
Create “Alien Egg Sacks� to hang in the tree. The idea came from pinterest and includes taking a balloon and covering it in paper mache. The instructions tell you to blow up a balloon to about 4-6 inches, create a paste of glue and water, cut coffee filters into fourths, and cover both sides of the filter in the paste and put it on the balloon. This is to be repeated to create a layer on the balloon, and create four layers. Once they have dried completely you are to pop the balloon and wait for it to detach from the paper mache. Then put some glow sticks into the ball, and put the ball in a white stocking.
Another part of our job was the bedroom. The idea was to have two aliens probing a human in her bedroom. We wanted to give the bedroom something more on the walls, so we decided on a poster as a nod to last years performance.
Execution:
These pictures are us working in class to make the prototype of the egg sacks, we made two prototypes to see if it worked better making them bigger or smaller, and we found out that both worked well.
This picture is the egg sacks being tested with two different kinds of glow sticks. The one on the left is the brighter one and the type of glow stick we ended up using. The one on the right is the glow sticks we had from class that were not as bright.

A Sally poster was included in the bedroom scene as a nod to last years halloween performance of Nightmare Before Christmas. It looked amazing in the blacklight!

Reflections and Thoughts:
The eggs turned out pretty good, but we quickly learned that they need to be completely dry before you pop the balloon or they will sink in a little. The tutorial we used was very detailed and gave step-by-step instructions on how to complete the egg sacks. Overall the eggs were executed well and turned out well. If I could fix anything about the way we did them I would have hung all of them to dry, we only hung them either sometimes or not at all, which caused them to not be completely dry where they were sitting.
