AsweheadintothelastweekofSeptember, ourclubseasonisnowfullyunderway, with all our teams having started their campaigns. I’m proud to say that we have begun the 2025/26 season with a club record of 9 teams representing Minster FC. Along with some new youth additions, we are delighted to confirm the return of women’s football to Minster. Known as “The Hinds”, the new women’s team is managed by Steph Meek, who is perhaps familiar locally from her previous time at MargateFC Stephhasworkedtirelesslybehindthescenestoarrangesessionsand get the team off the ground, and we’re thrilled to have her as part of our club leadership. Paige Godden is Head Coach and has known Steph for many years through their football journeys, from playing to coaching. Steph and Paige are supportedbytwocoacheswhohavebeenwithMinsterFCforsometime:AndyLong, whohaskeptgoalforallouradultteamsovertheyears, andNelsonWere, oneofouryouthteamcoaches.Theteamwillplaytheirhomematches onSundayafternoonsatMinsterRecreationGround.

Youwillhaveseenfromtheclubcrestthatweareover100yearsoldwithonlyWorld Wars getting in the way of continued existence – a matter not taken lightly as club players and staff fought for their country during these difficult times. Throughouttheseyearstherehavebeensuccessful teams – most notably in the 1960s – that have playedthegameintherightspiritandhavesetthe foundations for future generations to continue A difficult time in the early 1980s saw the club – with onlyasingleteamatthetime-almostfailtofinish a season in the Thanet League due to lack of playersandsupport.

My father Ralph (also known locally as Colin) stepped in to gather as many eligible youngsters–includingmyself–toregisterand playthosefinalmatchestokeeptheclubalive.

The results didn’t matter – there was a much largermotivetokeepthecontinuityoftheclub.

For us 16/17 year old lads at the time we were finally playing for Minster – a team we had watchedfromthesidelinesformanyyears The following seasons saw the club continue to buildfromtheverybottomupwards.
