Dear Members and Guests,
Welcome to the 2015 Men’s Member-Guest Invitational. We are excited that you have chosen to partake in this year’s event and trust that you have been working hard on your golf game. Tim Connolly and the Golf Course Maintenance team have the course in excellent condition and are prepared to provide a true test of golf.
The 2015 edition of the Men’s Member-Guest brings a few changes to the daily events. Thursday will now be the first round of competition with a shotgun start at 3:00 p.m. Registration and lunch will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the Travertine Room. Thursday night will include the ever popular Stag night at Beata’s House. Friday will be comprised of 18 holes of competition with the matches starting at 10:00 a.m. Please note that we introduced a resort casual Gala on Friday evening in which spouses are encouraged to attend. Saturday will be the final 18 holes of competition followed by the Championship shootout. At the conclusion of the shootout there will be a trophy presentation on the 18th green.

The staff at TPC Jasna Polana takes great pride in running this prestigious event, and it is very important to us that every member and guest have a memorable experience. *Spouses are invited to attend the Gala on Friday, June 19th. **Closing Ceremony will be on Saturday, June 20th and will include drinks served behind the 18th green. There will be no awards reception in the Travertine Room following the shootout.
Format – Four-Ball Match Play/Five Nine-Hole Matches Each team will be flighted according to the combined USGA handicap indices of both the Member and his guest. Each flight will consist of six teams with each team playing a nine-hole match against the other teams within the flight. Matches will be played as a Four-Ball (best ball of partners) using 80% of each player’s handicap, playing off the lowest handicap in the foursome. All handicaps will be calculated using the golfer’s June 15th, USGA handicap index. At the conclusion of the five matches, each Flight Winner will compete in the Championship Shootout to determine the overall Member-Guest Champions.
Tee Assignments TPC Tees (Approx. 6500 Yards) Player Tees (Approx. 6300 Yards)
Scoring Each team will earn one (1) point for winning a hole, a half (½) point for tying a hole and no points for losing a hole. The team earning the most points during the nine-hole match will be awarded one (1) point. Each nine-hole match is worth ten (10) total points. If two teams are tied for the flight lead after the matches, the tie-breaker will be a head-tohead match of cards. If the head-to-head match was halved, the two teams will play hole number two to determine the flight winner. If a tie still exists after playing hole number two, the teams will participate in a blind chip-off from a point around the second green chosen by the Professional Staff. If three or more teams are tied for the flight lead after the matches, there will be no head-tohead scorecard match of cards. The teams will, instead, play hole number two to determine the winner. If a tie still exists after playing the second hole, the teams will participate in a blind chip-off from a point around the second green chosen by the Professional Staff.
Cancelations and Withdraws If a team drops out prior to the start of the tournament, then that flight will play against Mr. Par for that match. If a team drops out in the middle of the tournament, then all matches against that team do not count (Including completed matches).
Rules of Competition All play will be contested from the TPC Tees along with the Player Tees. Handicaps are computed off of the corresponding slopes and ratings, based on the June 15 th handicap revision. Golf carts shall remain on the paths on all four of the par threes. USGA Rules will govern all play. If there is “Doubt as to Procedure,” please finish the hole with two balls. The matter must be brought before the Competition Committee before scorecards are signed and attested. The Professional Staff of Chad Fleming, Brian Parcel, Steve DePiano, Jason Field, Austin D’Angiolillo, and Drew Agey will serve as the Competition Committee. All boundary fences, parking lots, and the roadway behind #9 green and beyond will be played as out of bounds. The white stakes to the right of #3 and #9 fairways will also be out of bounds. The Forward Tee will be used as a “Drop” Zone on hole #8 for shots that land in the woods on the left side of the fairway/green. The Executive Tee will be used as a “Drop” Zone on hole #9 for shots that land in the woods on the left side of the fairway. If an area is not marked, please play as a “Lost Ball”. We ask to please refrain from entering all wetland areas that are marked on the golf course. During the event, pace of play is an important in keeping to our schedule of events. We ask that you keep up with the group in front of you at all times. Should a group fall more than one hole out of position, they will be put on the clock by the Professional Staff. Once on the clock, the group has 15 minutes to complete the next hole. If a group does not meet this requirement, they will be asked to skip the next hole in order to regain proper position. The point for the skipped hole will be ½ pt. to ½ pt. With any net competition, the integrity of the handicaps among all participants is vital in conducting a fair and enjoyable event. The Professional Staff reserves the right to adjust any players’ handicap during the course of competition. *All scorecards must be both signed and attested and turned in before beginning the next match.

Flight Winners’ Championship Shootout Format Play will begin on the 16th hole. Teams will play a true alternate shot meaning that the player who holes the putt is not allowed to tee off on the next hole. Hole No. 16 – Three teams eliminated Hole No. 17 – Two teams eliminated Hole No. 18 – Champion crowned
Handicap Allow the higher handicap flight winners 40 percent of the difference between the combined Course Handicap of the lowest handicapped flight winners. Strokes fall according to the scorecard. In the event of ties on the first two holes of the Shootout, the teams will participate in a chip-off to determine elimination. The chip-off will be assigned from a point around the green chosen by the Professional Staff. If a tie exists between the remaining two teams after hole #18, they will play hole #18 again in a sudden death playoff. If a tie still exists, teams will participate in a chip-off, from a point around the green chosen by the Professional Staff.
Example: Team 1, combined handicap = 18 (lowest team goes to 0) Team 2, combined handicap = 34 Difference = 16 (40 percent of the difference = 6.4 or 6) Team 3, combined handicap = 22 Difference = 4 (40 percent of the difference = 1.6 or 2)
