The Furniture Talks Stage is back this January with even more inspiration and tips and tricks on how best to navigate current industry challenges. Experts from all corners of the industry will share their voices and insights on how best to set your business apart.

The Furniture Awards are back for 2023 to celebrate our industry’s champions. This year we asked entrants why their business is leading in these categories: Sustainability; Best of British; Design Innovation; Global Player; and Superior Service, which is new for 2023.

Don’t miss our Young Furniture Makers showcase at the show. This display of young makers will give us insight into what the future of the industry holds.

We are happy to announce an experiential live workshop, created in partnership with the Centre for Excellence in Creative Making (CECM). The CECM is established as a trade skills preservation initiative, supporting the ‘Makers’, artisans and manufacturing industries across UK leather and associated component supply chains. The main focus of these immersive sessions is to showcase the trade skills servicing the lifestyle sector - interiors, specialising in upholstery, soft furnishings, furniture and accessories making. Throughout the four days you will be able to see products being made by specialists in their field, demonstrating traditional heritage skills, combining contemporary applications, and creating products with sustainable materials. We aim to celebrate ‘craft’ and shine a spotlight on the fresh new talent in the industry.

For the very first time this January we are partnering with The Better Trends Company to deliver an inspirational trends display onsite. This partnership helps to provide digestible and aspirational trend reports that you can shop during your visit to the show. Take a look at page 16 for a first look at our trend forecasts for 2023/24.

‘Permacrisis’ was recently announced as the Word of the Year by Collins Dictionary and this trend presents a defiant response. Consumers look to embrace joyful, nostalgic and creative outlets through bright colour and bold pattern. Fluid prints mix with hypnotic structured patterns, adding much needed moments of design joy.
The simplicity of the shapes in this trend belie the multiple complex ways in which they are used. Repitition and texture work together to create a meditative space. The feeling conveyed through this style is authentic and artistic in both muted earth tones and natural materials.

Psychedelia evolves into a surreal expression as our world gets stranger. Designers are playing with the shifts between realities and fantasies, nostalgia and the future. Dreamlike movements, layers of colour and morphing shapes all contrast to create a hypnotic and surreal aesthetic.
