This is the 6th incarnation of Strand Ephemera, an event that began in 2001 and then became a biennial exhibition from that time. Numerous names were considered, but Strand Ephemera stuck. The focus on “ephemera” encouraged artists to investigate inexpensive materials, for a “short-lived” exhibition of around 10 days. Running from 2–12 September, featuring 36 artworks from 77 artists, plus performances, workshops, lectures and tours, an event of this magnitude succeeds because of the efforts of many people. Perc Tucker Regional Gallery is the organiser, supported by other sections within council. The major funding partner is
Xstrata through their Xstrata Community Program North Queensland.
