MESSAGE FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER OF PARKS, RECREATION AND CULTURE
Warm weather is on the way, and I’m pleased to share our 2026 Spring and Summer Health and Active Living Guide. This Guide reflects the hard work and dedication of our Recreation team to plan and deliver a diverse range of programs, activities, events, and opportunities to help our community stay active, engaged, and excited to try something new. I hope you, your family, and your friends discover something to learn, experience, or enjoy in the season ahead. There truly is something for everyone right here in East Gwillimbury (EG).
Community feedback plays a vital role in shaping the programs and services we offer. Your thoughts help us deliver the programs our community wants and needs. Since opening the Health and Active Living Plaza (HALP), we’ve listened closely to visitor feedback, using it to enhance our space, introduce new programs like Tai Chi, and expand schedules so residents can participate at times that work best for them. Every piece of feedback strengthens our programs and improves the experience for everyone. I encourage

Sincerely,
you to share your ideas and let us know how we’re doing by emailing the Recreation team at leisure1@eastgwillimbury.ca.
We’re also counting down to an exciting milestone, the opening of the park at HALP. Scheduled to open this summer, it will be EG’s largest park and a vibrant hub for connection, fun, and outdoor adventure. The park will feature thoughtfully designed spaces, including an event area for community celebrations, reading and teaching gardens for learning and relaxation, an outdoor cooking space with a pizza oven and BBQs, and an accessible playground for all ages and abilities. Active amenities will include a splash pad, skate park, pump track, multi-use sports courts, as well as pickleball and beach volleyball courts.
That’s not all that’s happening, this summer we’re also launching a brand-new event, Music and Market Nights at the Civic Centre. We’re bringing together two of our popular summer events for the perfect blend of live music, food, and fun in one place. Follow us on social media and visit eastgwillimbury.ca/events for details on what’s happening this summer in EG.
We look forward to welcoming you to our facilities, programs, and events this season.
Aaron Karmazyn General Manager of Parks, Recreation and Culture
