Celebrate America’s 250th birthday in Brownsburg! The Brownsburg Lions Club kicks off the celebration on June 29 with a carnival at Arbuckle Acres Park! Enjoy rides, games, and great food! The carnival is open 6-11 p.m. through July 4.
On July 4 at 10 AM, line the streets for Brownsburg’s annual July 4 parade hosted by the Brownsburg Lions Club, one of the longest parades in Indiana. The parade route will be posted online on the Brownsburg Lions Club website.
Enjoy live music on July 4
beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Town Hall Green, featuring Cool City Band! The band will play music through the decades to celebrate the country’s historic milestone. In addition, enjoy food trucks and yard games on the lawn during the concert.
At 10 PM, fireworks will light the night sky. Fireworks can be viewed in downtown Brownsburg from Town Hall Green.

The Brownsburg Field of Honor will return for its second year with a special America 250 theme, featuring 500 American flags displayed in tribute.
This year’s installation will also include 26 historical flags representing different eras of the nation’s history, accompanied by interpretive signage sharing historical facts and context.
In the evening, the flags will be illuminated thanks to Sandy Beach Lighting and Design Co.
The Field of Honor offers a powerful and educational experience for visitors of all ages. Residents have the opportunity to sponsor or dedicate a flag in honor of a loved one, service member, or local hero. Flag dedications for the Field of Honor will open on June 23 online.
Honoring 25 Years of Remembrance
This year marks the 25th anniversary of September 11 attacks, a day that forever changed our nation and united communities in grief, resilience, and remembrance. As we observe Patriot Day, the Town of Brownsburg invites residents to reflect at our local place of tribute, the Brownsburg 9/11 Memorial.
Located in Arbuckle Commons, between The Arbuckle
Apartments and Elevate Office, the memorial is a reminder of the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the enduring strength of the American spirit. At its center is a 1,500-pound steel beam recovered from the World Trade Center in New York City following its collapse. The beam is positioned as it would have stood in the original structure and is oriented toward New York, creating a direct connection to the events of that day.

The memorial was installed in Arbuckle Commons in 2019 and has since served as a place for reflection and remembrance within the community.
In 2009, members of the Brownsburg Fire Territory learned of an opportunity to obtain a steel artifact from the World Trade Center for use in a memorial. After securing a court order from the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, ownership of the artifact was officially transferred. In 2010, four Brownsburg firefighters, Jim Miller, Donnie Ross, Ryan Miller, and Alex Brand,
The Brownsburg Fire Territory will be present at the memorial on Friday, September 11, beginning at 8 a.m. A wreath featuring 343 roses, one for each firefighter who lost their life, will be displayed.
Residents are encouraged to visit the memorial, reflect on the significance of the day, and honor those who were lost.
In honor of Veterans Day, the Town of Brownsburg will place 500 American flags across Town Hall Green on October 29November 11. Proceeds from the Field of Honor program will benefit the Brownsburg American Legion Colonel Billie J. Holmes Memorial Post 331 Scholarship Fund. $50

Brownsburg Meijer Opens
Meijer opened a new 159,000-square-foot supercenter in May at 9202 E. 56th St.
Known for its fresh grocery selection and unbeatable value, Meijer offers an expansive farm-fresh produce section as well as an extensive deli and meat department and a full array of specialty, national brand and Meijer-branded grocery items. The new Meijer supercenter also features a full-service pharmacy as well as general merchandise, including baby and pet departments, apparel, beauty care, a floral department, and an outdoor garden center.
“As a family company that’s been serving Midwest customers for more than 90 years, we are honored to be able to continue bringing value and convenience to more customers in Indiana,” Executive Chairman Hank Meijer said. “We understand that value is more important now than ever before, and we remain dedicated to ensuring Meijer customers are getting the best prices on quality items in one easy stop.”
Before opening, Meijer demonstrated its support of the community by making $30,000 in donations to three local organizations, which received checks for $10,000 each during the store’s opening week: Brownsburg Education Foundation, Messiah Lutheran Church Food Pantry and Family Promise of Hendricks County.
“Our new store team is already working hard to be a strong community partner and a good neighbor,” Meijer President & CEO Rick Keyes said. “We are confident this new store will create an impact that customers in Brownsburg will truly appreciate.”
Meijer donates at least 6 percent of its net profit to Midwest communities annually, and each of its stores works with local food banks and pantries to help fight hunger. Since 2008, the retailer’s Simply Give program has generated more than $100 million for its food pantry partners throughout the Midwest. The Brownsburg store’s first Simply Give partner is Messiah Lutheran Church Food Pantry.
Continuing the retailer’s ongoing efforts to ensure accessibility for all customers, the store features new, larger, height-adjustable changing tables in the family restrooms to provide added convenience and dignity for customers with disabilities and their caregivers. As in all Meijer stores, the new supercenter also offers free access to Aira, an app-based service that provides live navigation assistance to blind and low-vision customers using the camera on their smartphones.

The Town of Brownsburg supports everyone’s ability to share information, advertise, and communicate through signage. To help keep our community safe, accessible, and visually appealing, we ask that all temporary signs are placed in appropriate locations.
Public Right-of-Way Guidelines
Temporary signs placed in the public right-of-way may be removed without notice in accordance with Indiana law and the Brownsburg Unified Development Ordinance (Chapter 6).
The public right-of-way includes areas such as:
• The space between the street and sidewalk
• Around utility poles, fire hydrants, traffic lights, and street signs
• Within roundabouts or street medians
• The best place for your sign is behind the sidewalk or clearly within your yard.
Keeping these areas clear helps prevent blocked sight lines for drivers, ensures ADA-accessible paths remain open, and keeps fire hydrants and other utilities visible and accessible. Thank you for helping keep Brownsburg’s streets safe and clear!
INVESTING IN PUBLIC SAFETY
In January 2025, 40 acres of property was purchased at 6519 E. US Hwy 136 to relocate the Police Training Facility and the Street Department. This property is situated west of Town and adjacent to Town operations departments.
The proposed development will consolidate key Town functions into a single, purpose-built site designed to support both daily operations and future growth. The property was conditionally rezoned in March and annexation and design is currently underway.
The new location will enable the expansion of indoor and outdoor facilities for police training and K9 operations. The space will provide officers with access to modern, on-site training resources, allowing for enhanced preparedness and more efficient use of time and personnel. In Indiana, officers are required to complete at least 24 hours of continuing education. Since 2020, Brownsburg officers average over 117 hours of training, making the space critical for continued growth within the department.
Relocating the Street Department will offer updated facilities and increased indoor and outdoor storage for materials. The location will also provide safer at-grade access during winter storm events.
Additionally, both departments will benefit from secure indoor storage for specialty vehicles and equipment, ensuring they remain ready for response. With close proximity to the Fleet Department, equipment maintenance will be more efficient.

Interchange project
Potential Interchange project
The Town is working with the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to advance plans for a third interstate interchange on I-74. The project will support future community growth, alleviate traffic on the N. Green St. corridor, and improve overall connectivity.
The Town recently received initial approval from INDOT and the Federal Highway Administration to move forward with the interchange project.
Although the exact location and design of the interchange have not been finalized, initial approval is based on a potential location west of Green Street/State Road 267. Ongoing federal design and environmental review processes will determine the final alignment and configuration.
With initial approval, the project enters the Environmental Study phase. This phase will take about one year. It will cover environmental impact analysis, a detailed noise study, and review possible mitigation measures, including sound barriers if needed.
These studies will guide the final design and ensure the project meets all federal requirements.
Typically, large-scale infrastructure projects take approximately 10 years to complete, depending on the length of the approval and review processes.
Fall Limb Collection begins in September
The Town of Brownsburg provides curbside limb pickup to residents in the spring and fall. The Street Department will pick up limb piles put out at homes during the scheduled collection week.
WHEN
The Street Department visits the northside (north of Main St./US 136, Autumn Glen neighborhoods) and the southside (south of Main St./US 136) on alternating weeks.
Limb piles must be placed by the curb by 6 a.m. on the week of pickup.

Brownsburg Awarded IMPO Grant for Intersection Improvements
The Town of Brownsburg has been awarded grant funding from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Planning Organization (IMPO) for intersection improvements at East County Road 300 North and Raceway Road. This project will enhance safety and traffic flow along the corridor.
The IMPO recently announced $76.2 million in federal transportation funding for 18 projects across nine local public agencies, supporting critical infrastructure improvements throughout Central Indiana. The selected projects are part of the State Fiscal Year 2029 (SFY 2029) funding cycle.
“These investments reflect a strong regional commitment to improving how people move throughout Central Indiana,” said Anna Gremling, Executive Director of the IMPO.

Annual Hydrant Flushing Helps Protect
Critical Infrastructure
Brownsburg Water Utilities will spend the summer months inspecting fire hydrants in Brownsburg.
The process involves flushing water through the hydrants, ensuring the lines are clear of particulates that build up over time.
Residents may notice water discoloration caused by disturbed iron sediment and water pressure changes during hydrant flushes.
Crews began flushing hydrants in April and will move through neighborhoods through the fall.
Summer sewer calculation
Each year, Brownsburg applies a summer sewer calculation to help ensure residents are not charged sewer fees for water that does not enter the sanitary sewer system, such as lawn irrigation or swimming pool fill.
When does the summer sewer rate take effect?
The summer sewer calculation is reflected on bills due in July, August, September, and October.
How the summer sewer calculation works
For residential customers with standard meter sizes, sewer charges during the summer months are based on:
• Your current water usage, or
• Your average monthly water usage from the previous October, November, and April billing periods
This method helps account for seasonal outdoor water use that does not enter the sewer system.
2025 Water Quality Report
Available
The Town of Brownsburg has published its 2025 Water Quality Report (Consumer Confidence Report), providing residents with important information about the quality of drinking water supplied to our community.
This annual report includes details about where your water comes from, what it contains, and how it compares to standards set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM). Consumer Confidence Reports are required each year to ensure transparency and keep residents informed about their drinking water.

MEMORIAL MARKER HONORING NATIONAL
SPRINT CAR HALL OF FAMER “BABE” STAPP TO BE UNVEILED
The Town of Brownsburg and the Indiana Racing Memorial Association will unveil a new memorial marker on the Brownsburg Racing Memorial Trail honoring Elbert “Babe” Stapp on July 2.
A standout figure in American open-wheel racing, Stapp was known for his determination and longevity in the sport. He competed in the Indianapolis 500 multiple times throughout the 1950s and 1960s, earning respect among his peers for his grit and perseverance on the track. His contributions to racing reflect the spirit and heritage that continue to define Indiana’s motorsports legacy.
The Indiana Racing Memorial Association has been instrumental in preserving the history of racing in Indiana. The organization works tirelessly to create memorials that honor drivers, mechanics, and contributors to the sport.
The unveiling event is open to the public at 108 N. Jefferson St. After the unveiling, the Stapp Family will host an open house, showcasing various cars and awards.
This is the seventh memorial marker to be unveiled as part of the Brownsburg Racing Memorial Trail, celebrating the rich motorsports history rooted in Indiana.
BROWNSBURG TRAIL RULES: WHAT TO KNOW
The Town of Brownsburg encourages all residents and visitors to enjoy our trail system safely and responsibly. Please review the following guidelines before using the trails:
Permitted & Prohibited Uses
Motor vehicles are not permitted on trails. This includes driving, parking, or otherwise obstructing the trail. Motorized cycles, bicycles powered solely by a motor, and motorized devices such as e-scooters and electric unicycles are also prohibited.
Exceptions include:
• Pedal-assist e-bikes
• ADA-compliant personal mobility devices
• Public safety and maintenance vehicles performing official duties
• Hoverboards, power wheels, and other small recreational devices
• Motorized wheelchairs and scooters used by elderly or disabled individuals
All trail users must follow the posted 15 mph speed limit.
Trail Etiquette & Right-of-Way
• Keep to the right side of the trail at all times Yield the right-of-way to others when appropriate
• Skaters, joggers, and bicyclists must yield to pedestrians
• All trail users must yield to vehicles at trail crossings
• Signal when passing (either by bell or orally)
• Pedestrians should stop and look both ways before all trail crossings

Fostering Community Through Volunteering
From setting up tables at the Brownsburg Farmers Market to handing out popcorn at the Father-Daughter Dance, volunteers are the heartbeat of Brownsburg’s events. Behind every welcoming space are community members who give their time to make it all possible.
Among them is Joshua Amosu, a high school senior and the first-ever recipient of the Town of Brownsburg’s Exceptional Commitment Award, recognized for his dedication to volunteering at town events.
“Initially, I started volunteering just to fill out my hours for Key Club and NHS,” Amosu said. “But as I kept doing it, I fell in love with it.”
At the Brownsburg Farmers Market, Amosu has seen how small acts of service can spark connection—neighbors supporting local vendors,
families enjoying themed nights, and the community coming together on the Town Hall Green.
“I enjoy supporting my community,” he said. “By volunteering, I’m doing my part to keep [Brownsburg] beautiful.”
That sense of connection extends to other events, like Trail and Treat and the MotherSon Bonfire, where he’s helped create safe, welcoming experiences for families.
“My brother and I both attended the Mother and Son Bonfire,” he said. “Even though it was a lot of work, we were able to make the place feel comfortable and safe for everyone.”
For Amosu, volunteering is also about stepping outside his comfort zone.
“It’s nice to talk to new people,” he said. “At first it might seem scary, but once you get into the groove, it’s not hard.”
Although his school service requirements will soon end, his commitment won’t.
“I plan to continue volunteering in college and give back out of love for the community,” he said.
For anyone hesitant to get involved, Amosu offers simple advice: “My first time volunteering, I was scared out of my mind, thinking I was going to mess up. But as I kept going, I got the hang of it. Taking that first step makes everything easier.”

Join us for a hands-on exploration of pollinators in our parks! Using the free iNaturalist app, you’ll help document butterflies, bees, and more while contributing to real community science.
Earn service hours as you explore during a guided hike through our beautiful pollinator gardens. Bring the whole family to enjoy interactive activities, learn something new, and take home free native seed packets to help pollinators in your own backyard.
