TEMPORARY TOWN OFFICE RELOCATION Beginning July 6, the Town Hall off ices will operate from temporary off ices at 113 Courthouse Lane while repairs and upgrades are completed at historic Town Hall. 36TH ANNUAL HARVEST FESTIVAL Bowling Green’s favorite fall tradition returns to historic Main Street on Saturday, October 17, 2026. Residents and visitors are invited to enjoy a full day of food, shopping, live entertainment, and activities for all ages at the Town’s 36th Annual Harvest Festival. This year’s celebration will feature three stages of live entertainment, a major arts and crafts show, food vendors, local organizations, a farmers market, a vintage and antique flea market, contests, and the Kids’ “Pumpkin Palooza.” The festival is a wonderful opportunity to spend time with family and neighbors while celebrating Bowling Green’s heritage and community spirit. The festivities begin the evening before with Music on the Green at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 16. Mark your calendar and plan to join us in the heart of Town for a festive fall weekend in Bowling Green. Additional event details will be shared as the festival approaches.
NORTH MAIN STREET SEWER MAIN REPLACEMENT COMPLETED The Town of Bowling Green completed the North Main Street sewer main replacement project on June 30, 2026. The project replaced aging 8-inch concrete sanitary sewer piping and related components within the Town’s wastewater collection system. The improvements are intended to strengthen system reliability, reduce the risk of future service disruptions, and support the long-term operation of the Town’s sewer infrastructure. The Town appreciates the patience and cooperation of residents, businesses, and motorists throughout construction.

WATER QUALITY PROJECT UPDATES The Town of Bowling Green continues to advance the town’s major water quality improvement and well replacement project designed to provide a reliable, long-term solution for the community’s water system. During the June 4 Town Council meeting, Bryant Mountjoy, a hydrogeologist from Stantec, presented an update on the completed Preliminary Engineering Report, proposed treatment technology, new well locations, and the anticipated design and construction process.

Quick Project Facts: The Preliminary Engineering Report is complete. Two new wells are planned. A centralized treatment facility is proposed. The project is mandated to be completed by December 25, 2029 by the Virginia Department of Health. The project is planned to be funded by state and federal grants obtained through a grants strategy led by our Town Manager: $6.2 million in funding from the Virginia Department of Health Planning & Design Fund. $2.1 million dollars in principal forgiveness through the Virginia Drinking Water State Revolving Fund. COUNCIL COMMUNICATES Town Council took action on several important items during its recent meetings, including: Approved emergency sewer repairs for Ennis Street. Adopted the FY2026–2027 operating and capital budgets. Approved a budget amendment to support year-end needs and infrastructure repair costs. Updated Chapter 3, Taxation, of the Town Code to improve clarity, formatting, terminology, and consistency with state law. Authorized the Town Treasurer to issue certain refunds for erroneous assessments in accordance with the Code of Virginia. Authorized a temporary lease agreement to relocate Town Hall operations to 113 Courthouse Lane during required repairs and renovations. Approved a community partnership grant agreement with KABOOM! for a new play space at Bowling Green Town Park. Received updates on the Town’s water quality and well replacement project, EPA Lead and Copper Rule improvements, utilities operations, public works, finance, and Town Manager activities. Residents are encouraged to follow future Council agendas and meeting summaries to stay informed about Town projects and decisions.
COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATES
APPROVED FY’27 BUDGET The Bowling Green Town Council approved the Town’s Fiscal Year 2026–2027 operating and capital budgets on June 4. The adopted budget provides the financial plan for Town services, operations, debt obligations, and capital improvements during the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026. The budget was developed following presentations and public meetings held throughout May, including a public hearing on May 28. Council also separately adopted the tax rates and water and sewer rates supporting the new budget.
JOIN US FOR NATIONAL NIGHT OUT The Town of Bowling Green invites residents and families to celebrate National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Town playground on Butler Street. National Night Out brings neighbors, local law enforcement, and Town staff together in a welcoming environment that promotes community connections, public safety awareness, and positive relationships between police and the residents they serve. This free community event will include food and beverages, face painting, cornhole, activities and handouts for children and adults, and information from local organizations about programs and projects taking place in and around Bowling Green. No registration is required. Bring the whole family, stop by, and enjoy an evening with your neighbors and community partners!
