CAROLINE COUNTY HISTORIC COURTHOUSE IN BOWLING GREEN ADDED TO U.S. CIVIL RIGHTS TRAIL Bowling Green has made history. The Caroline County Courthouse Campus is now off icially part of the United States Civil Rights Trail, shining a national spotlight on our community’s role in the Loving story and the f ight for equality. Mayor Tina Gambill, Vice-Mayor Valarie Coyle, and Councilmembers Jean Davis, Randy Hageman, and Jeff Voit, along with Town Manager India Adams-Jacobs, joined Caroline County Tourism & Economic Development partners, Kathy Beard and Gary Wilson and Caroline County Supervisors Floyd Thomas and Jeff Sili in welcoming Congressman Vindman, Delegate Nicole Cole, and Virginia Tourism Director Rita McClenny to commemorate this powerful recognition. As we honor Black History Month and look ahead to America’s 250th anniversary, the Town celebrates the enduring legacy of Richard and Mildred Loving and the Loving family—ensuring Bowling Green and Caroline County’s story will inspire visitors for generations to come.
CHECK OUT OUR TOWN EVENTS! Several community events are scheduled in the coming months, offering opportunities for residents and visitors to stay engaged throughout the year. Caroline Literacy Event- Main Street Main Street Literacy Kickoff – CAROLINE READS Passport Event has been rescheduled for March 14, 2026 (10:00 AM-1:00 PM) Music on the Green/ 4 th Fridays Music on the Green returns this spring and summer on fourth Fridays, with Patsy and the Country Classics performing on April 24 at 6:00 p.m. Race The Mindful Miles 5K and 1 Mile Run will take place in town on Saturday, May 2, 2026, and is expected to draw participants and visitors into town, adding to the day’s community energy for the good cause of mindfulness. Clean Sweep The Town’s Spring Clean Sweep is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2026,

EBILLING FOR TOWN UTILITIES The Town now offers improved electronic billing options, giving residents a faster and more convenient way to receive and manage their utility bills while reducing paper use and mailing delays. Sign up for e-billing today by visiting the Town’s website or contacting Town Hall for assistance. Enroll now to ensure you receive your billing information quickly and reliably.
BUSINESS LICENSE RENEWALS DUE- MARCH 1 The annual Business, Professional & Occupational License (BPOL) renewal deadline has passed, and we don’t want any of our local businesses to be caught off guard by late penalties or interest. If you haven’t renewed yet, there’s still time—please submit your BPOL renewal form and payment to Town Hall as soon as you can so your business stays in good standing and continues supporting essential Town services. If you have any questions or need a little help with the process, the Town of Bowling Green Finance Department is happy to assist.

SLUDGE DEWATERING PROJECT The Town’s sludge dewatering project is progressing as part of a broader effort to improve wastewater treatment efficiency. Dewatering significantly reduces the volume of sludge, lowers hauling costs, and makes residual materials easier and safer to handle. This cost-effective upgrade supports the modernization of the Town’s wastewater management practices, with rehabilitation of a drying bed completed by Langford Excavating in late January.
MOBILE FOOD VENDING ORDINANCE The Town has adopted a Mobile Vending Ordinance to establish clear standards for food trucks and other mobile vendors operating within Town limits. The ordinance outlines permitting requirements, operating locations, hours, and health and safety considerations. This framework is intended to support local entrepreneurship while maintaining public safety and orderly development. Bowling Green is soon to have more dining options on participating commercial properties!
BGVA MAIN STREET ACTIVITIES Bowling Green, Virginia, Main Street Group (BGVA) is keeping downtown momentum strong with active planning, committee work, and hands-on community engagement. Recent meetings have focused on board leadership, nonprof it governance, and close coordination with Virginia Main Street partners, while committees push ahead on promotions, economic vitality, design and streetscape projects, and upcoming community events. On the business front, Sundry will
reopen in its new location on March 14, Iron Heritage has settled into the former Martin-Sale furniture building, and Domino’s is set to open soon in the former China Inn space—bringing fresh energy and options to Main Street.
