$6.2M AWARDED FOR WATER QUALITY IMPROVEMENT & WELL REPLACEMENT PROJECT The Town of Bowling Green has been awarded $6,206,205 in grant funding from the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) to address water quality challenges and implement the Gross Alpha treatment and well replacement project. This transformational investment represents the most signif icant single infrastructure grant in recent Town history. Town Manager India Adams-Jacobs worked closely with the members of the General Assembly to secure the funding, most notably Senator Richard Stuart and Delegate Hillary Pugh Kent. The General Assembly approved $25 million in grant funding earlier this year, with priority given to the Town of Bowling Green and Greene County. "These funds will greatly assist the Town in its effort to overcome Gross Alpha and well replacement issues, and I would like to thank our Town Manager for her diligent efforts to address this issue for our community," commented Mayor Tina Gambill. "In January 2024, the Town Council identif ied this as the town's number one priority, and I worked to draft the Town's f irst legislative agenda, which was approved by the council and provided to our state representatives. At the Town Council's direction, we are positioned to deliver this water-quality improvement and well-replacement project. We want to thank Senator Stuart and Delegate Pugh Kent for their efforts, as well as the House and Senate Appropriations Committees”. This grant award is part of the Town's comprehensive strategy to address aging infrastructure and plan for sustainable community growth. · $6,206,205 – Virginia Department of Health grant for Gross Alpha treatment and well replacements · $2,700,000 – Virginia Clean Water Revolving Loan Fund for wastewater infrastructure · $120,000 – In-kind engineering services for Wastewater Treatment Facility improvements · $70,000 – In-kind services for Geographic Information System development for utility infrastructure · $45,000 – Virginia Department of Health technical assistance grant · $3,500 – Virginia Main Street technical assistance grant for downtown revitalization Total external f unding secured: Over $9.1 million
GLOBAL INFORMATION SYSTEM & UTILITY MAPPING PROJECT AWARDED FUNDING The Town of Bowling Green has been awarded $30,000 in grant funds for the Town’s GIS Utility Mapping System and formal Asset Management Program. This investment will strengthen utility identification, improve system documentation, and support more efficient long-term maintenance and planning. The application, submitted by Town Manager India Adams-Jacobs, builds upon the Town’s first-ever GIS system, which was established earlier this year through $70,000 in in-kind services. This award represents another milestone in the modernization of Bowling Green’s utility infrastructure and is part of a broader effort that has secured millions in external funding since 2024 to support water, wastewater, and infrastructure improvements across the community.

BGVA Main Street and the Town’s Economic Development Authority closed out the year by hosting their f irst-ever Joint Business Appreciation Breakfast, welcoming local business owners, community partners, and Town leadership for a morning of connection and celebration. The event recognized the vital role our business community plays in Bowling Green’s success and reaff irmed a shared commitment to fostering economic growth, collaboration, and a thriving downtown as the Town looks ahead to the year to come.
