MINDFUL MILES RACE IN BOWLING GREEN The Town of Bowling Green extends its sincere appreciation to everyone who participated in the Mindful Miles 5K and 1-Mile Run/Walk, the f irst race in Bowling Green in over a decade, including runners, walkers, volunteers, sponsors, police off icers from Caroline County and the Town of Bowling Green who kept everyone safe and orderly, and community members who offered their encouragement along the route. Held along Main Street, the event served as a meaningful reminder of the importance of mental health awareness and the strength found in community support. Special recognition is given to Humbling Experiences and the Rappahannock YMCA for their leadership in bringing this impactful event to Bowling Green. Mayor Tina Gambill proudly served as the off icial race starter, while Councilmember Jeff Voit and Town Manager India Adams-Jacobs participated in the 1-Mile event in support of the cause. From early morning check-in through the f inal f inisher crossing the line, the enthusiasm and engagement of all involved helped transform the event into a powerful expression of hope, wellness, and connection throughout Bowling Green and Caroline County.
NEW BUSINESSES IN TOWN! Bowling Green is experiencing positive momentum in its local business community with the addition of new establishments that expand both convenience and opportunity within Town. Domino’s, now open at 312 W. Broaddus Avenue, offers residents a reliable option for quick meals and family dining, further strengthening the Town’s growing selection of food services. The recent ribbon cutting, attended by Mayor Tina Gambill, Vice-Mayor Valarie Coyle, Councilmembers Jeff Voit, Jean Davis, Randy Hageman, Caroline County Board Supervisor Jeff Sili, Town Manager India Adams-Jacobs, Chief of Police Justin Cecil, and Town staff, marked an enthusiastic welcome for the franchise and its team. In addition, the Bowling Green Thrift Store, located at 116 N. Main Street, brings a unique retail presence to the downtown area, providing affordable shopping options while contributing to the character and accessibility of Main Street. Together, these new businesses reflect continued investment in Bowling Green’s economic vitality and reinforce the Town’s commitment to supporting a diverse and thriving local marketplace. Residents are encouraged to visit both locations and help welcome these businesses to the community.
Bowling Green’s Fourth Fridays continue to serve as a cornerstone of the Town’s seasonal event programming, offering residents and visitors a consistent opportunity to engage with the community in a vibrant and welcoming downtown setting. Held monthly from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. through September, with Music on the Green held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. the same evenings, these events transform Main Street into a lively gathering space featuring local eateries, extended retail hours, sidewalk sales, and live music. Designed to encourage community connection while supporting local businesses, Fourth Fridays provide an accessible and family-friendly environment where attendees can dine, shop, and enjoy entertainment in the heart of Town. NEW VIDEO SERIES FROM THE TOWN OF BOWLING GREEN The Town of Bowling Green is pleased to introduce Porch Talk, a new video series designed to keep residents informed and engaged with ongoing initiatives, projects, and community updates. Presented in a conversational and accessible format, Porch Talk offers insight into topics such as economic development, infrastructure improvements, upcoming events, and other matters of local importance. By highlighting current efforts and providing context for Town priorities, the series supports greater transparency while helping residents stay connected to the work taking place across the community, presented by the faces responsible. Residents are encouraged to watch and share upcoming Porch Talk episodes as they are released, and to follow the Town’s off icial Facebook for the latest updates and featured discussions.

FORT A.P. HILL EXECUTIVE STEERING COMMITTEE
APPROVED FY’24 TOWN AUDIT The Town Council has formally accepted the FY2024 Audit, reflecting continued progress in strengthening the Town’s financial management practices. Auditor Ms. Davis reported that the Town received an unmodified opinion, indicating that the financial statements are fairly presented and align with applicable accounting standards. The audit identified one material weakness related to the absence of documented financial policies and accounting procedures, a finding that was also noted in the prior year. In response, Town Manager India Adams-Jacobs confirmed that the Town has since adopted formal financial policies and implemented corrective measures to address this issue. Town Manager Adams-Jacobs also highlighted the significant strides made in improving financial oversight and reporting, including the completion of four previously outstanding audits within a two-year period.
The Town of Bowling Green hosted the April Fort A.P. Hill Executive Steering Committee at Town Hall, bringing together regional partners and installation leadership to discuss shared priorities and ongoing initiatives. The meeting was attended by Mayor Tina Gambill and Fort A.P. Hill Garrison Commander Lieutenant Colonel Matt Bauer. During the session, Fort A.P. Hill leadership highlighted current operations, including an overview of the installation’s top project priorities, and announced the nomination of the Town of Bowling Green for the Army’s Community Partnership Award. This award came in part due to the Town’s Intergovernmental Service Agreement with Fort A.P. Hill, which was spearheaded by former Mayor Mark Gaines and Town Manager India AdamsJacobs.
