2 Tbs Butter
2 onions, sliced
8 oz breakfast sausage
1 sheet frozen pu pastry – thawed
½ cup grated parmesan (not shredded, grated to a powder)
1 large edd
Put the butter and onions in a skillet over medium heat and brown the onions until dark, 40 to 45 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside. Add the sausage to the same skillet and crumble; cook until done, 5 to 8 minutes. Roll the pastry out to 10 by 12 inches. Sprinkle the cheese over the pastry, then the sausage, then the onions. Roll both sides toward the center of the rectangle until they touch. Chill in the fridge for 20 minutes or place in the freezer for 10 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment. Slice the pastry into 1/3-inch slices and transfer them to the prepared baking sheets. Mix together the egg and 1 tablespoon water in a small bowl and brush the mixture over the top of the slices. Bake until golden brown, about 20 minutes.
1 Pound Cream Cheese – at room
2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
2 tsp Worcestershire sause
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
½ cup pickled picuante (Peppadew) peppers – nely chopped
½ cup fresh parsley – nely chopped
¼ cup nely chopped fresh Chives
Creckers, sliced bread or crudites, for serving
Line the inside of a 6-cup Bundt pan with plastic wrap. Process the cream cheese, shredded cheese, Worcestershire sauce, 1/2 teaspoon salt and few grinds of pepper in a food processor until smooth. Empty the mixture into a medium bowl, and fold in all but 2 tablespoons of the chopped peppers.
Spoon the cheese mixture into the prepared Bundt pan; pack it in, spread into an even layer and cover (or simply form the cheese mixture into a ball and wrap tightly with plastic wrap). Refrigerate until chilled, at least 1 hour up to 2 days.
Uncover and invert the cheese mold (or unwrap and transfer the ball) onto a serving platter. Sprinkle with the chives and parsley to completely coat the wreath, and garnish with the reserved 2 tablespoons peppers. Serve with crackers, sliced bread or crudites.

New Year’s Eve is one of the most festive nights of the year. Despite its reputation for revelry, New Year’s Eve also can be dangerous, which underscores the need to celebrate responsibly when ringing in a new year.
American Addiction Centers surveyed 1,000 Americans regarding their alcohol consumption habits on certain holidays. e survey found that the average person consumes 4.4 alcoholic drinks on New Year’s Eve, making the holiday second only to Mardi Gras in terms of drinks consumed. Alcohol lowers individuals’ inhibitions and adversely a ects their judgment, which could make them vulnerable to criminals and more likely to make bad decisions, including driving a er a few drinks. In fact, the National Safety Council estimates that 427 people may die on U.S. roads during the 2022 New Year’s holiday period.
A new year is worthy of celebration, and the festivities can be even more enjoyable when individuals take these safety tips to heart.
• Recognize the risks. Recognition of the potentially serious threats that can be lurking on New Year’s Eve is vital to celebrating safely. In 2016, leaked documents indicated that more than 1,200 women were sexually assaulted on New Year’s Eve in various German cities. A 2011 report from the Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research in the United States noted a signi cant spike in the rate of assaults, murders, sexual assaults, and robberies on New Year’s Eve, linking that increase to higher levels of alcohol consumption. Individuals who recognize how vulnerable overconsumption of alcohol can make them may be less inclined to overdo it this year.
• Avoid the roads. Data from the National Highway Tra c Safety Administration indicates that 68 percent of drunk driving tra c fatalities on New Year’s 2016 involved drivers with a high blood alcohol concentration. One of the safest things individuals can do on New Year’s Eve is to avoid the roads. Consider celebrating at home or staying in a hotel or the home of a loved one. If you must be on the road, call a cab or book an Uber when you need to get to and from a party.
• Be careful even if you’re hosting. New Year’s Eve celebrants also must be vigilant if they’re hosting a gathering at home. Laws vary, but social host liability laws generally hold hosts who serve alcohol responsible for the actions of their guests a er they leave their homes. So hosts could conceivably be vulnerable to criminal or civil proceedings if they serve alcohol to guests who are then involved in tra c accidents or other incidents a er they leave hosts’ homes.
New Year’s Eve is a time for celebration. Taking steps to ensure celebrations are safe can make the night even more fun.
