WHAT A TIME TO BE IN THE COW-CALF BUSINESS! THAT IS THE SENTIMENT OF PRODUCERS ACROSS THE U.S. AND WAS THE TOPIC OF MANY CONVERSATIONS AS WE VISITED WITH TOWN CREEK FARM (TCF) CUSTOMERS IN FLORIDA THIS SUMMER. The Florida shipping run was in full swing as Jim Fenton and Clay Cooper of Fenco Farms joined me for a week of visiting our bull and heifer customers. For Jim and Clay, this was their first visit to many of the ranches, and they were blown away by the performance of Town Creek Farm genetics in their home state. It is no secret that Town Creek Farm genetics have deep roots in Florida. As we purveyed cow herds with multiple generations of TCF Brangus genetics, both Jim and Clay, who are professional cattlemen and got their start in the commercial cattle business, understand what has kept Town Creek Farm customers loyal to our program: great cattle, great people, and great customer service. Great cow herds don’t happen overnight. To make one truly great, it takes a lifetime of hard work, sticking to your guns on the things that matter most: fertility, calf performance, and longevity, and culling the cattle that don’t measure up. As we travelled throughout the state, the common thread among our bull and heifer customers is their commitment to putting a program in place that works with their environment and never wavering from it or chasing fads. The cattle business is a long-term business, and cows are a long-term asset. This business model has made the success of the Town Creek Farm cow herd as well as our hard-working customers. I would be remiss if I did not give credit to those whose shoulders I stand on while at the helm of this great herd today. Without the vision and diligence of Joe Reznicek, Milton Sundbeck and Joy Reznicek Sundbeck, the last 30plus years in the cattle business would look quite different for most of the people reading this article.

The strategy for success has remained constant. Develop cattle that do their job with minimal supplementation and provide unmatched customer service. The evidence could not be clearer than riding through heifers at Triple S Ranch in Okeechobee, Florida, with

ranch manager Deroy Arnold. Two years ago, Deroy was looking for the next piece in the genetic puzzle for Triple S Ranch. At the 2024 Town Creek Farm Sale, he found his answer with first-generation Brangus bulls. During our visit, I was fortunate to witness firsthand the difference in the calves sired by our first-gen bulls at Triple S Ranch. Their replacement females were the epitome of Brangus, feminine fronted, bold ribbed, easy fleshing, perfect breed character, and veins flowing with the newest blood in Brangus. Mission accomplished.

Town Creek Farm’s Breeding Up to Brangus project, now in its 10th year, was created out of our customers’ need for more Bos-indicus blood and heterosis in their cattle. After several years of using multi-generation Brangus bulls and bulls with heavier Angus content, doability and fertility were a rising concern for many. There was a need for more indicus breeding and more hybrid vigor. Breeding Up to Brangus is not easy, but it is highly rewarding. The first-generation females that have come into production are raising knockout calves and the bull mates to them have sired exceptional progeny.

Utilization of Neogen’s Igenity Indicus product to indicate percent Bos Taurus and Bos Indicus in an individual animal’s DNA has further allowed Town Creek Farm to assist our customers in tailoring bull batteries to fit their specific needs. It also confirms that first-generation Brangus do indeed bring us back to a true 3/8 Angus and 5/8 Brahman breed composition. Fenco Farms is excited to take Breeding Up to Brangus into the future and realize the value that it brings to our commercial customers and the Brangus breed alike.

It was such a blessing to visit customers this year who were smiling ear to ear when we pulled into the drive. Almost all the ranches we visited had started shipping calves. To say that they were happy with the prices their calves brought would be an understatement. We are certainly in unprecedented times in the cattle market.

Business-minded cattlemen know the importance of investing in high-quality genetics and great bulls. Great bulls come from great cows and out of programs with defined management systems. There is no better time to take advantage of increased calf prices to upgrade your bull battery to prepare for the future. We look forward to seeing all our valued customers on October 18th.

OUT WORK• OUT LAST

1ST GENERATION BRANGUS

Town Creek Farm continues to develop new first generation lines of 3/8-5/8 Brangus genetics through breeding up from foundation stock of Brahman and Angus. Limited numbers of new genetic lines exist in the current Brangus population. We recognized the need for new genetics for long-term viability of the Brangus breed. Within our “Breeding Up to Brangus” project, we took a mathematical approach by working with large groups of percentage foundation cattle and utilizing in vitro fertilization (IVF) to reach our goal. New genetics lines of Brangus offer customers higher levels of retained heterosis, heat tolerance, and longevity. Research shows first-generation females or females sired by first and second generation bulls to be reproductively efficient with more longevity.

ADVANTAGES OF USING VIGORMAX™ AND PERCENTAGE BULLS

The best Angus and Brahman genetics are combined into one, yielding maximum paternal heterosis bulls. Tracked pedigrees of superior genetics from both breeds provides a unique benefit.

Bulls with higher Indicus or Brahman influence have better disease resistance, improved insect tolerance, lower nutritional requirements, slicker hair coats, and increased longevity.

We’re in a constantly evolving industry. Change is a part of the journey. Yet, the core principles of building a resilient cow herd will always remain the same. At Town Creek Farm, our Commercial Brangus Bred Heifer offering showcases proven genetics that are perfectly suited to thrive in the heat and humidity of our region here in the U.S.

BRED HEIFER LOTS 241 - 255

CP Bar Brangus, Holcomb, Mississippi

Paul and Chad Gray • (662)809-9988 • 26-Year Consignor

This set of stacked Town Creek Farm genetics, all sired by TCF Rapid Reward 23G, is a true multi-generational lineup. Bred to low birthweight TCF Integrity 2G4. Calving from January 23, 2026 to March 24, 2026

Comments: It's been such a joy to watch this group of forage-developed heifers grow and develop. We weaned them last fall and fed them with buckets for just 45 days. Afterwards, they were moved onto some of the best ryegrass we've seen in years, with no supplemental feed and minimal hay. They are by far the gentlest set we have ever raised, and basically anyone can handle them on foot. They've become by far the gentlest group we've ever raised. Plus, they're completely broken to a single-strand electric polywire fence, making them easy to manage.

LOTS 256 - 265

Megehee Cattle Company, Macon, Mississippi

Jacob Megehee • (662)361-1941 • 22-Year Consignor

These Brangus heifers are sired by CCR Sleep Easy 9L2, CCR Integrity 355S4, CCR Thunder 641R4, and CCR Integrity 036P9. They are bred to TCF Integrity 994G2 and TCF Rapid Reward 743H. Calving from November 30, 2025 to January 26, 2026.

Comments: Using Cow Creek and Town Creek bulls since 1999, we have focused on low birthweight bulls, building our Brangus-based herd by saving back heifers with good attitudes to have multiple generations of Town Creek genetics. Our herd is user-friendly, easy calving, and easy keeping. They raise their calves on grass in summer and hay with protein supplement in winter to keep our herd in good condition year-round.

The heifers' pelvic measurements were taken on June 11, 2025. Every heifer measured 218 square centimeters or more.

LOTS 266 - 285

Montgomery Farms, Moulton, Alabama

Mark Montgomery •(256)476-1268 • 17-Year Consignor

LOTS 286 - 300

B&B Farm, Linden, Alabama

Gerome Burrell • (334)216-2292 • 13-Year Consignor

Town Creek Farm multi-gen heifers sired by TCF Integrity 100J6 and TCF Rapid Reward 698F4. Bred to calving ease bull TCF Sleep Easy 610J3. Calving from November 11, 2025 to January 12, 2026.

LOTS 301 - 330

Longino Ranch, Inc., Sidell, Florida

Cliff Coddington • (941)737-7859 • 11-Year Consignor

Brangus heifers representing 16 generations of Town Creek Farm and Cow Creek Ranch genetics. Heifers were A.I.’d to TCF Integrity 4861F7 and TCF

Sleep Easy 241K22. Followed with pasture service by TCF Rapid Reward 1K2, TCF Rapid Reward 610L, TCF Integrity 312L4. Calving from November 27, 2025 to January 20, 2026

Comments: Longino Ranch, is a large ranch located in Southwest Florida, along the eastern border of Sarasota County lying due north of Charlotte Harbor. The ranch is about 50% improved pasture with the remaining 50% in native flat woods, hammocks, and wetlands. A very tough environment. Cattle are managed mostly on horseback, but will come to a side-by-side, tractor, or pickup.

Over the last 20 years, we have stacked Cow Creek Ranch and Town Creek Farms genetics into our cow herd to make a cow that is efficient. She will eat low-quality forage, keep a body score of five or better, reproduce each year while raising a calf on her side that will compete with most any other calf in the feedyard.

These heifers are right out of the top of our heifer replacements. Heifers are bred at 12 to 14 months of age, where we get between 55% to 60% bred by AI. To say that they are highly fertile would be an understatement. This set of heifers should fit anyone’s outfit.

These heifers have small swallowfork ear notches for each set of vaccinations while on the ranch.

Comments: Forage-raised and backed by top genetics, these heifers have been nurtured on irrigated forage for sound health, fertility, and steady growth. Well-tamed and adaptable, they’re accustomed to handling on foot, horseback, or ATV. Sired by Town Creek’s elite bulls, they offer maternal efficiency, structural correctness, and calm dispositions — hardy, low-input cattle that add long-term value to any herd.
