PATHWAY TO CAREERS IN HEALTH SCIENCE & MEDICINE High-achieving undergrad students who choose to pursue careers in medicine and the health sciences can continue their graduate and professional studies at Touro through the Integrated Honors Track. A partnership between Touro’s Lander Colleges and New York School of Career and Applied Studies (NYSCAS) and the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine, Touro College of Pharmacy and Touro College School of Health Sciences offers a seamless pathway to fulfilling careers in osteopathic medicine, pharmacy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speechlanguage pathology and physician assistant. In conjunction with New York Medical College (NYMC), the Lander Colleges and NYSCAS offer the Medical Honors Pathway which offers the opportunity for qualified applicants to continue their studies at NYMC after completing their undergraduate work, provided they sustain the academic requirements.
Lander College of Arts & Sciences in Flatbush (LAS) A major presence in Brooklyn for 43 years, LAS offers high quality degree programs, in separate divisions for men and women, providing yeshiva students and seminary graduates with a rigorous academic preparation for career advancement and professional success, in an environment that is supportive of their religious values and attentive to their personal goals. Lander College for Men – Beis Medrash L’Talmud (LCM) LCM boasts dedicated faculty, professionally-oriented majors, exceptionally high acceptance rates to graduate and professional programs and a beautiful seven-acre campus in Queens, New York. But what sets LCM apart is the entirely balanced dual curriculum of intensive Torah study and rigorous academics. Torah study is led by Harav Yonason Sacks, a world-renowned Rosh Yeshiva, and he is joined by an engaging group of rabbis who foster a high level of Judaic and Talmud scholarship amongst students. They expect the most from their students, as do the College’s academic faculty, and students thrive in the College’s warm, personal yet demanding environment. Through the Academic and Jewish Studies Honors Program, exceptional students are able to cultivate their intellectual gifts through advanced analytical research in their chosen disciplines, as well as in Talmud study and the liberal arts and sciences. GRADUATE SCHOOL OF SOCIAL WORK The demand for social workers is growing and will continue to expand, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. The Graduate School of Social Work (GSSW) is meeting the call with more than 300 students pursuing the MSW degree and gaining advanced, in-depth classroom and field training in clinical social work. GSSW has four specializations that can provide you with the skills to enhance your career—working with veterans; the aging; the chronically mentally ill; and Jewish social welfare. Over 100 fieldwork agencies provide opportunities for Touro students to gain critical hands-on experience. JACOB D. FUCHSBERG LAW CENTER Touro Law Center, located on Long Island, is part of a state and federal court campus, providing unique opportunities for teaching and learning. The work of the federal and state courts is integrated into the daily law school experience and students are in the courtroom from their first week of school. TOURO COLLEGE OF OSTEOPATHIC MEDICINE The Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine (TouroCOM) with campuses in Harlem and Middletown has a four-year medical school program committed to educating physicians to practice in underserved communities. Our flipped/dynamic classroom best prepares our students for achievement. Clinical education is provided through affiliated teaching hospitals and medical centers throughout the region that provide a wide range of clinical exposure. Our students and faculty work in the community to provide health screenings and patient education at our campuses and offer mentoring and outreach for high school and college students to instill an interest in math and science and to prepare them for the health professions. TouroCOM has graduated more than 1,000 physicians who serve residencies at well recognized local, regional and national academic medical centers in all specialty fields. TOURO COLLEGE OF PHARMACY Touro’s College of Pharmacy, the only pharmacy school in Manhattan, is providing students with a competitive edge through exciting new courses, esteemed faculty and a unique curriculum offering a combination of classroom and clinical experience rare among pharmacy schools. By experiencing nine pharmacy rotations, 10 to 14 weeks more than other colleges of pharmacy, students have more opportunity to put what they learn into practice.
