House Sports Day Programme Thursday 26 March 2026
It is a real pleasure to welcome all athletes, staff and families to House Sports Day 2026.
We are delighted to be hosting the full event across Tormead’s own facilities this year, with hockey and football taking place at Urnfield Sports Ground and a wide range of activities happening at the Main School site. It is also exciting to introduce several new sports to the programme this year, further broadening opportunities for participation and competition.
House Sports Day is a celebration of competition, teamwork and House spirit. One of the highlights of the sporting calendar, it is always fantastic to see our community come together in such a positive and energetic way. I am looking forward to an action-packed and memorable day.
My sincere thanks go to the P.E. Department for the significant work behind the scenes to make today possible and to ensure every athlete has a rewarding experience. Thank you also to our Heads of House and all Tormead staff supporting the event, as well as to the families who have come to cheer from the sidelines.
Best of luck to all competitors. Compete with pride, support one another and make the most of the occasion. May the best House win.

As well as P.E. staff, there are allocated team managers whose role is to follow the orders of play and competition guidelines provided by the organisers, ensure teams are ready with enough players for each match, and support their teams enthusiastically from the sidelines.

Pupils in Years 7 to 11 are required to wear their coloured House P.E. top along with Tormead skort, shorts, and/or tracksuit bottoms. Sixth Formers must also wear their coloured House P.E. top, paired with their own leggings, skort, or shorts that are suitable for competition. If a pupil does not own a coloured House top, they should wear a suitable sports top that matches their House colour:

Please be aware that March weather can be unpredictable. To prepare for varying conditions, we strongly recommend pupils wear or pack the following:
• Tormead hoodie, ¾ zip sports jumper, navy sports coat, tracksuit bottoms & suncream (if needed)
Kit Guidelines:
• All kit worn by Years 7 to 11 must be Tormead-branded.
• Pupils are welcome to show House spirit with face or body paint, but full-body coverage is not permitted. Excessive body paint will need to be removed.
• No jewellery is allowed. All jewellery must be removed, as taping is not sufficient.
Sport Kit Requirements

Gym & Dance T-shirt and/or leotard with leggings
P.E. kit to change into after competition
Hockey Mouthguard • Stick • Shin pads • Tormead hockey socks • Suitable trainers/Astros

To help ensure a safe and enjoyable day for everyone, pupils must wear appropriate clothing and any required protective equipment for their activities. Regular water and snack breaks should be taken throughout the event to stay hydrated and energised.
First aid provision will be available at both sites:
• Tormead Main School Site – Wellbeing Centre
• Urnfield Sports Ground – Medical Room in the Pavilion
All first aid will be administered by Mrs Burrell and Mrs Moulson (School Nurses), who will be working across both sites. In addition, a qualified first aider from the P.E. Department will oversee each competition..
Pupils are also reminded to:
• Use only the designated pupil toilets and changing facilities in the Sports Centre or Urnfield Pavilion. Staff and visitor toilets must not be used.
• Remain vigilant at all times and ensure valuables are stored securely.
• Not leave either site unless permission has been granted by a member of staff and they have signed out with the P.E. Department, who will notify the Registration Team.
• In the event of an emergency (e.g. fire evacuation), assemble on the top netball courts unless otherwise directed by staff, or grass area next to lower car park for Urnfield.
A packed lunch will be provided for all pupils who normally receive school lunch. Lunch will be served by year group following the cheerleading performance.
Pupils and staff should only collect lunch when their form group and House have been called. Pupils with dietary requirements will be called first.
Please note that refreshments at Urnfield are for spectators and staff only. On-site refreshments for spectators and staff will also be available in the P.E. Lounge (top floor of the P.E. building).
The 1905 Café will be open throughout the day for pupils wishing to purchase additional refreshments..
If an emergency arises and you are unable to locate a staff member, please call 01483 575 101. This will connect you to Main Reception at Tormead School, where your call will be directed to the appropriate member of staff..
A huge thank you to the following teams for their support in making this event possible:
• P.E. & Sports Department
• Estates & Facilities Team
• Events & Marketing Team • Catering Team
