DAY 5 FES TO MARRAKECH VIA VOLUBILIS AND CASABLANCA. Say hello to your drive day! We’re on the road to Marrakech. History lovers, rejoice! We’re stopping off at Volubilis to see some ancient Roman ruins. Hey, they don’t call this the Rockin’ Moroccan for nothin’. (B)

DAY 6 MARRAKECH. Who’s a Marrakech master? You are! Well, after our awesome city tour that is. Cue a free afternoon in arguably the most colourful and bustling city in Morocco. Experience medina madness and then find things you never thought you needed in the Djemaa el-Fnaa Square. Once a trading post for slaves, ivory and gold, now it’s nothing short of a spectacle and home to colourful characters selling everything from spices and leather to medicines and food. Let’s play a game – what’s the craziest thing you can find for sale? (B,L)

DAY 7 MARRAKECH. Waaaah! It’s time to wave goodbye to your Moroccan mates. Swap Insta handles, you officially sign off from Topdecker duty after brekkie. (B)

Casablanca! Welcome to Morocco’s most populated city, where Art Deco meets mosaic and modern street art meets sacks of saffron and cumin. Dump those bags and join the group ‘cos this trip kicks off with a bang. We’re off to one of the largest mosques in the world – the Hassan II. Want a travel experience to write home about? Trust us, you’re on the right trip.

DAY 2 CASABLANCA TO CHEFCHAOUEN VIA RABAT. Ready to rock’ out, Morocco style? You got it. Today we’re heading to the most Instagrammable location ever, Chefchaouen. But wait! First, we’re taking a pit

stop at Rabat, the country’s capital. Grab your phones – you’re gonna wanna Snapchat the Hassan Tower, a landmark and major city attraction dating back to 1195. Impressed? Thought so. (B)

DAY 3 CHEFCHOUEN TO FES. Medinas, mazes, mausoleums oh my! Today we’re missioning it inland to Fez. But first, enjoy a tour of Chefchouen thanks to yours truly. Get your Insta game on as we make the most of our last morning here by stopping for snaps of the vibrant white and blue cobbled streets that give Mykonos a run for its euros. (B)

DAY 3 TEL AVIV TO JERUSALEM VIA PALESTINE. Jerusalem, here we come! But not before we make a few unmissable pit stops along the way. First up, we’ll make like the Three Wise Men and set a course for the little town of Bethlehem. Jesus’ birthplace packs a whole bunch of holy sites, churches and bazaars. Next up: the Israeli-Palestinian barrier wall, then it’s onwards to a local refugee camp to get an insight of into the life of the Palestinian people who call the area home. One more stop at Ramallah (‘God’s Hills’ in Arabic), then it’s off to a Palestinian brewery we go for a drop of the good stuff. (B,L)

DAY 4 JERUSALEM. First up, a free morning to do Jerusalem your way. Want to see beyond those city walls? An optional Judean desert tour will take things well off the beaten track. Then, it’s cameras at the ready as we hit the streets on a history-laden walking tour of this spiritual powerhouse. From the Church of the Holy Sepulchre to the Western Wall, the city teems with pilgrims who’ve come to worship at Jerusalem’s holiest sites. This afternoon, foodies can go gourmet with a hummus making class. Chickpeas for the win. (B,D)

DAY 1 TEL AVIV, ISRAEL. Ready to discover Israel’s inside story? Kick off your own Israel tale and say shalom to Tel Aviv. This cosmopolitan city is a sparkling mix of restaurants, bars, skyscrapers and beaches – not to mention a party atmosphere that refuses to be ignored. Drop your bags and get excited for this evening’s welcome meeting, where you’ll meet your new Topdecker BFFs. This is going to be one for the books.

DAY 2 TEL AVIV. Rise and shine! This morning, it’s up and at ‘em as you take to two wheels on a bike tour of the city. Later, take a walking tour through one of the city’s most ancient (and most enchanting) areas, Old Jaffa, before soaking up the hipster vibes in the Florentin neighbourhood as you check out some incredible street art. Expect winding alleys, fountains and archways for days. End the day with a guided tour through the bustling Carmel Market, perhaps sampling the mouthwatering selection of halva, bureka, Arabic sweets, and fresh produce. (B,D)

DAY 5 JERUSALEM TO NAZARETH. At 427 m below sea level, the Dead Sea is the lowest point on earth and roughly 8.6 times saltier than the ocean. True story. Today you’ll get to tick off another #lifegoal as you float around in it. Then, it’s on to a local kibbutz to get the lay of the land and a real sense of community. Later, we’ll make tracks to the tranquility of the Sea of Galilee (where Jesus is said to have walked on water) before we go gourmet with this evening’s Arabic Cooking Workshop. Think: all the tasty food. (B)

DAY 6 NAZARETH TO TEL AVIV. Get your daily fact fix and then some on included tours of Nazareth, Acre and Haifa today. As you make your way around, tick off fascinating historical sites such as Templar and Crusader ruins, and keep your eye out for the postcard-perfect Bahá’í Gardens. Later on, there’s a winery visit on the cards, so get your raised pinkies at

the ready and prepare for all the pretentious chat you can handle. (B)

DAY 7 TEL AVIV. Back in the buzzing metropolis of Tel Aviv, you won’t be short of things to do. Whether you choose to pull up a sun lounger, hunt down some local delicacies or simply meander the streets on a Snapchat spree, today is yours to do as you please. If you’re an aspiring surf god(dess), you can even take to the water on an optional surf lesson. Hear that Tel Aviv nightlife calling? We wouldn’t be surprised. Tel Aviv is ranked as one of the top ten party cities in the world. Round off your final evening with your trip mates in style with an optional nightlife tour. Cue allll of the emotional hugs. (B)

DAY 8 TEL AVIV. Today marks the final chapter of your journey – we’re off after breakfast. Israel, it’s been one heck of a trip. Too soon to start planning the next adventure? (B)

8 DAY | ESSENTIAL EGYPT

CLOCKWISE: ABU SIMBEL CAIRO, LUXOR, ASWAN

DAY 1 CAIRO, EGYPT. Get pumped – you’re in Cairo! Go exploring and find out why the Egyptians call this place Umm al-Dunya, or ‘the mother of the world’. Just make sure to rock up in time for tonight’s welcome meeting, where you’ll meet your new trip buddies.

DAY 2 CAIRO TO ASWAN VIA OVERNIGHT COACH. There’s old, and then there’s the necropolis of Saqqara. Walk among pyramids, get transported back in time and soak up some ancient history with a visit to this extensive burial ground. Later, meander the streets of Coptic Cairo and check out the Hanging

Church before getting your haggle on in Khan elKhalili market. Expect gold, spices and every type of souvenir under the sun. (B)

DAY 3 ASWAN. Julius Caesar, Cleopatra, Lord Byron... they’ve all done it. Now it’s your turn! Go low tech with a ride on a felucca sailboat down the Nile and get comfy on the many cushions laid out on the deck. Later, switch to a motor boat to take in some breathtaking views before we jump ship at a Nubian village. If you fancy it, you can even opt to take a camel ride (talk about life goals) or chow down on an authentic Nubian dinner. (B)

DAY 4 ASWAN. Prepare to feel humbled as you gaze up at the four colossal statues of Ramses II at Abu Simbel (note to self: don’t forget to charge camera). Next, we visit the intricately carved Temple of Hathor, the Goddess of Love, which was built in honour of Queen Nefertari. Still want more? You could always pay an optional visit to the Philae Temple or the Nile High Dam. Round off a day to remember by drinking in the magic of the Nile at sunset. Beautiful doesn’t even begin to cover it! DAY 5 ASWAN TO LUXOR. Today we’re travelling to Karnak for a touch of Luxor – known as ‘the world’s greatest open-air museum’. Once the capital of ancient Egypt, it’s now a history-strewn landscape of souks and temples. Your challenge today is to see as much of it as possible. And… go! (B)

DAY 6 LUXOR TO CAIRO VIA OVERNIGHT COACH. Today, take a walk into the Valley of the Kings – aka the place everyone in ancient Egypt was ‘dying’ to get into. Think: tombs, and lots of them. Then, fly the flag for girl power at the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut before gawking at the Colossi of Memnon. So. Many. Awesome. Sights. Tonight, it’s off to Cairo we go. (B)

DAY 2 MARRAKECH. Kick start your day with a guided city tour and see the Saadian tombs and Bahia Palace before ending in Jemaa el-Fnaa – a town square that houses snake charmers, Barbary apes, singers, dancers, drummers and more. (B)

DAY 3 MARRAKECH TO TAMNOUGALT VIA AÏT BENHADDOU. Prepare for some of the most epic scenery as we cross the Tizi n’Tichka pass. GORILLA PERMITS

The Bwindi Impenetrable Park region is home to 400 of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Due to the endangered nature of this species, visitors are strictly limited and a permit must be purchased in full at the time of booking to make sure you get to see these gentle giants. Local laws and regulations don’t allow permits to be reserved in bulk.

The cost for the permit is listed on each itinerary visiting the area and we will obtain one on your behalf (if still available). The permit also includes a trekking excursion to see chimpanzees in their local habitat at Kyambura Gorge. Gorilla permit rates are subject to change due to currency fluctuations.

Please note: To ensure we obtain gorilla permits, we may trek outside Uganda in neighbouring countries such as Rwanda, where gorillas have also been habituated for viewing. Trekking here involves a minimal detour from the described route.

DAY 1 KAMPALA TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK, UGANDA. From Kampala, we travel west towards Queen Elizabeth National Park through fertile green terraced hillsides, lush banana plantations, steep mountains and tangled forests with herds of Ankole cattle. Get excited – when we reach the national park, a spot of chimpanzee trekking is on the cards. OMG. (B,L,D)

DAY 2 QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK. Take in those magnificent views of the mountains that separate Uganda from central Africa, as well as Lake Edward and Lake George. Queen Elizabeth National Park has over 500 species of bird and 100 species of mammal, making it one of the most biodiverse national parks in the world. If you’re lucky, you might get to spot these animals en route to Kyambura Gorge for the trek to see the chimpanzees (if you didn’t already make this journey yesterday). Unlike their larger cousin the mountain gorilla, chimps live mostly in the trees, so prepare to peer high into the forest canopy. (B,L,D)

DAYS 3-5 QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK TO LAKE BUNYONYI. This region of Africa is home to the world’s remaining 770 mountain gorillas, many of which inhabit the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (occasionally we may travel into neighbouring Rwanda to trek for the gorillas). On the day of our trek, we gather in the early morning to meet our local guide and tracker before walking in small groups into the thick rainforest. The trek can be demanding at times with uneven terrain and hilly rainforest but the privilege of spending time with a family of these gentle primates makes the effort well worthwhile. When you're not trekking, there are many optional activities to do here such as hiring canoes to visit some of the lake's islands, local tribes, villages and orphanages, as well as bird watching and nature walks. DAY 6 LAKE BUNYONYI TO KAMPALA. Leaving Lake Bunyonyi we make our way back across the equator (stopping for a photo opportunity if we didn’t already stop for one en route to Queen Elizabeth National Park) through lush pasture lands to Kampala, where our trip finishes upon arrival. Kampala is a hotspot for great food and entertainment. If time allows, take the night out, try the local cuisine and enjoy the hospitality and friendliness of the local Ugandans. (B,L)

DAY 1 JOHANNESBURG TO GREATER KRUGER, SOUTH AFRICA. Oh Africa, you amazing thing! Step into the ‘City of Gold’ (Johannesburg) where your epic journey starts. We make our way to Hazyview bordering Kruger (on the way, check out God’s Window and the fascinating Bourkes’ Luck Potholes) and enjoy our first night under the African stars. DAY 2 GREATER KRUGER TO KRUGER NATIONAL PARK. It might be an early start, but there’s the promise of guaranteed photo ops to make your jaw drop. Today, we’re all about wild Kruger. Expect an intense yet rewarding day of game tracking in 4x4 vehicles with our eagle eyed guide at the wheel - this is the most esteemed park in the world, after all. DAY 3 KRUGER NATIONAL PARK. Dig into breakfast, then re-enter the park in an open 4x4 safari vehicle for our second day's game driving. You’re slap bang in the middle of amazingness, so get excited. With cameras and binoculars at the ready, make the most of your long distance eyesight and spot the Big Five (elephant, rhino, leopard, lion and buffalo). DAY 4 KRUGER NATIONAL PARK TO MLILWANE WILDLIFE SANCTUARY, SWAZILAND. Today, we head to the Kingdom of Swaziland. Passing markets galore, we make a visit to the famous Ngwenya glass factory and skirt the capital Mbabane, before arriving at Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary. (B,L,D)

DAY 5 MLILWANE WILDLIFE SANCTUARY. Rub those eyes and wake to the sounds of exotic animals nearby. Pack yo’ bags, then it’s a short drive to the Royal Enclosure for a guided walk. DAYS 1-2 JOHANNESBURG TO KRUGER NATIONAL PARK, SOUTH AFRICA VIA HAZYVIEW. Our adventure begins in Johannesburg, the City of Gold and one of the most cosmopolitan cities on the African continent. Starting early, we roll in style (and by style, we mean fully equipped safari truck) to the Greater Kruger area, where a cultural show of Shangaan dancing awaits. Kruger is South Africa’s premier national park and in connection with parks in adjoining Mozambique and Botswana, covers 24,000 square kilometres of land used in the protection of African wildlife.

Give your camera a work out as we enjoy a full day’s game viewing in the national park, seeking wildlife encounters with Africa’s Big Five – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard – as well as giraffes, hippos, zebras and more! DAY 4 ZANZIBAR. It’s your last full day on this beautiful island, so you may want to make the most of those sun-soaked beaches while there’s still time. Take to the water or simply while the hours away on a sun lounger. Ten points if you catch a glimpse of a dolphin! (B)

DAY 5 ZANZIBAR TO DAR ES SALAAM. Bye bye, Zanzibar! With one last longing look at this tropical idyll, we hop on the ferry back to vibrant Dar es Salaam, where we’ve got your dinner covered. (B,D)

DAY 6 DAR ES SALAAM TO MARANGU. All aboard our overland truck as we travel inland from Tanzania’s Indian Ocean coast to the grassy plains of Northern Tanzania. It’s by the Pangani River, one of the most important rivers in the country, that we’ll set up camp for the night. Swap campfire stories and steal a mug of hot chocolate to finish off the night. Be sure to catch some zzz’s before tomorrow’s early start. (B,L,D)

DAY 7 MARANGU TO ARUSHA. Continue on to Tanzania’s sprawling safari capital Arusha, passing by Africa’s highest peak, Mt Kilimanjaro. During our stay in Arusha, we can take a guided walk in the local Maasai village to learn about their traditional culture, and even visit the snake enclosure at the Meserani Snake Park! Later, make like a serpent and slither to dinner for a camping style feast. Dig in! (B,L,D)

DAY 1 DAR ES SALAAM TO ZANZIBAR, TANZANIA. Combine the best of both worlds: this all-in-one trip is part safari adventure and part paradise getaway! Kick things off by departing Tanzania’s main port city, Dar es Salaam by ferry for the stunning island of Zanzibar. Get to know the charming capital Stone Town and visit the palm-fringed shores of the northern beaches, where you can try your hand at snorkelling and diving in paradise. (B)

DAY 2 ZANZIBAR. Fact: Zanzibar is known as ‘Spice Island’. Go for a wander around the bazaars today and you’ll soon discover why! Here, you can haggle

over aromatic spices, fresh fruit, fish and meat, colourful prints and fabrics and even the odd mobile phone or two. These markets are Zanzibar’s beating heart, where locals come to shop and socialise. Tip: try the coffee. (B)

DAY 3 ZANZIBAR. A free day to explore the mosques, palaces and alleyways of the old town, taking in the dazzling tastes and scents that linger in the air. It’s exotic, amazing, and unlike anywhere else in the world. We won’t blame you if you never want to leave. (B)

DAYS 8-10 ARUSHA TO SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK & NGORONGORO CRATER. Prep your day pack (or a small bag) as we transfer to smaller 4x4 vehicles for a 2 night/3 day game viewing trip through the Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater. Trust us, these safari vehicles are decked out with ALL the animal spotting necessities – pop-up roof included. We pass into the park and drive around the Crater’s rim and down onto the Serengeti plains, where we hope to spot all of the Big Five – as well as hyenas, cheetahs, wildebeest and antelopes! DAY 1 DURBAN TO UNDERBERG AREA, SOUTH AFRICA. Meet your safari buddies, then spin your compass inland as we hit the road to the Underberg Area. Be sure to catch plenty of zzz’s – tomorrow’s gonna be a big day. (L,D)

DAY 2 UNDERBERG AREA TO LESOTHO VIA SANI PASS. Today, learn a thing or two as we join a guided tour of Lesotho via the spectacular gateway of the Sani Pass. After lunch we meet the shepherds of the area, before taking a short walk to view Thabana Ntlenyana, the highest point in Lesotho. (B,L,D)

DAY 3 UNDERBERG AREA TO DRAKENSBERG VIA BATTLEFIELDS. Soak up some history at the Battlefields today, a site that commemorates many lives lost at war. (B,L,D)

DAY 4 DRAKENSBERG. Today we’re off to the Royal National Park to follow the hiking trails up the Drakensburg Mountains and take in some serious views. (B,L,D)

DAYS 5-6 DRAKENSBERG TO MALEALEA. This morning, roll into the northern section of Lesotho where we have the option to go horse riding, mountain biking or take a guided hike. (B,L,D) (B,D)

DAY 7 MALEALEA TO MOUNTAIN ZEBRA NATIONAL PARK. Leaving the highlands and crossing back into South Africa, we’ll venture through stunning, diverse countryside to arrive at Mountain Zebra National Park. (B,L)

DAY 8 MOUNTAIN ZEBRA NATIONAL PARK TO ADDO ELEPHANT NATIONAL PARK. Today, we drive to the Addo Elephant National Park for some serious animal spotting. Keep your eyes peeled and camera on standby. (B,L,D)

DAY 11 OUDTSHOORN TO HERMANUS. Relaxed and revitalised from the wonderful Oudtshoorn hospitality, we jump back in our vehicle and head south to the coastal town of Hermanus, famous for its whale and dolphin sightings – but not before making a stop at Cape Agulhas, which marks Africa’s southernmost tip. DAY 12 HERMANUS TO CAPE TOWN. Say farewell in Cape Town. Fancy sticking around? From the Waterfront to the Table Mountain cable car, this city has plenty to keep you occupied! (B)

13 DAY | KENYA & TANZANIA ADVENTURE

DAYS 1-3 NAIROBI AND MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE, KENYA. Make your way to Kenya’s sprawling capital to meet the group. From Nairobi we kick start the adventure and travel to the Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya’s best known game park. The Mara’s rolling grasslands and broad horizons, not to mention the wildlife, bring to mind images of what many people think of as ‘classic’ Africa. (B,L,D) (B,L,D) (B,L)

DAY 4 NAIROBI TO ARUSHA, TANZANIA. After crossing the border into incredible Tanzania, we arrive at our destination, Arusha. Situated mid-way between Cape Town and Cairo, this is very much Tanzania’s ‘safari capital’ – a bustling city with colourful markets, shops, vehicles and people, all nestling in the shadow of the brooding Mt Meru. After taking a guided walk in the local Maasai village to learn about the locals’ traditional culture, we head to our camp just outside Arusha on the open plains to the west of the city. (B,L,D)

DAYS 5-8 ARUSHA TO BAGAMOYO VIA SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK AND NGORONGORO CRATER. Switch to smaller 4x4 vehicles as we head west to Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park. Don your khaki greens in true safari style, view game by day and camp out by night in the middle of the reserve (where wildlife may roam past). From the Serengeti plains we climb the steep Ngorongoro Crater and make camp on the rim. The Ngorongoro Crater is a spectacular World Heritage Site, offering unparalleled wildlife viewing opportunities. DAYS 9-13 BAGAMOYO TO DAR ES SALAAM AND ZANZIBAR. Off we go to Dar es Salaam. DAY 1 NAIROBI TO LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK, KENYA. Get excited. This is Africa! First up: Kenya’s Great Rift Valley and Lake Nakuru National Park, where we’ll kick things off with a game drive. Best known for its birdlife, Nakuru also contains plenty of rhinos, leopards, warthogs, baboons and lions – so keep those eyes peeled. (L,D)

DAYS 7-8 LAKE BUNYONYI. This is the moment you’ve been waiting for! Local guides will lead you on a trek to see a family of gorillas in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. DAYS 6-8 MASVINGO TO VILANCULOS, MOZAMBIQUE VIA THE BANDULA AREA. Crossing from Zimbabwe to Mozambique, a couple of drive days take us to the spectacular Indian Ocean coast. Mozambique has grown out of its chequered past and now offers heaps of relaxing resorts. Think: hammocks strung among the palm trees, golden, near-deserted beaches and warm azure waters teeming with life. We’ll spend two nights in Vilanculos, the gateway to the Bazaruto Archipelago (a group of idyllic Indian Ocean islands). DAYS 17-20 LIVINGSTONE TO GREATER KRUGER, SOUTH AFRICA VIA MATOBO NATIONAL PARK, ZIMBABWE. From Livingstone, we cross into Zimbabwe, stopping for two nights at Matobo National Park, famous for its large population of black and white rhinos. Prepare for a game drive and various activities at the park, before entering South Africa via the Limpopo Province and coming to a stop at Greater Kruger, where a cultural Shangaan dance show awaits. DAYS 1-3 JOHANNESBURG TO TSHIPISE VIA GREATER KRUGER, SOUTH AFRICA. From epic Johannesburg we travel to South Africa’s famed (and seriously iconic) Kruger National Park via the region of Mpumalanga. Here, we’ll keep an eye out for the magnificent Big Five. In the evening, enjoy a cultural show of Shangaan dancing, before waking to an unreal sunrise and embarking on a game drive in one of Africa’s best wildlife reserves. DAYS 4-9 TSHIPISE TO LUSAKA, ZAMBIA VIA MATOBO NATIONAL PARK AND LIVINGSTONE. Travelling north, we’ll set a course for the wonders of Matobo National Park. Head off on a game drive or enjoy a range of optional activities like hiking and bird-watching – and don’t forget to check out Victoria Falls from Mosi-OaTunya (smoke that thunders) National Park. DAYS 10-12 LUSAKA TO SOUTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK. Spend time exploring the South Luangwa National Park, known as one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries in the world, as we set up camp here for a couple of nights and embark on a critter-countin’ game drive. (B,L,D) (B,L,D) (B,L,D)

DAYS 13-15 SOUTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK TO LAKE MALAWI. Leaving Zambia behind, we cross the border to Malawi, where Lake Malawi covers almost a fifth of the country’s area. DAY 16 LAKE MALAWI TO IRINGA, TANZANIA. Today we climb through Tanzania’s Southern Highlands all the way to Kisolanza Farm House – a working farm that provides organic meat and vegetables. DAYS 1-3 NAIROBI AND MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE, KENYA. Our trip starts in style as we cross the Great Rift Valley and enter Maasai Mara National Reserve. DAY 4 NAIROBI TO ARUSHA, TANZANIA. Crossing into Tanzania we roll into the hub of safari action, Arusha. Here, we’ll take a guided walk in the local Maasai village to learn about the locals’ traditional culture. (B,L,D)

DAYS 5-7 ARUSHA TO SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK AND NGORONGORO CRATER. Time to switch to smaller 4x4 vehicles and drive west to Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park. From the Serengeti plains we climb the steep Ngorongoro Crater and camp on the rim, getting ready for our third major game park in a week. DAYS 8-9 SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK AND NGORONGORO CRATER TO DAR ES SALAAM VIA BAGAMOYO.
