Ground A lot of work has been completed over the last 8 weeks by the “grounds team”. This included painting, fixing, installing a large number of items. The “grounds team" have completed the installation of the new garage with our builder Simon. The electrics will be completed shortly by Scott M. I would like to thank the following, Bill, Roger, Pete, Alan B, Scott M, Steve Y for their work for the club, unpaid volunteering. They did a fantastic job on the Summer Jobs. The pitch also had to be looked after during all of this work and it is a credit to Bill and Roger.

Alan Lee Reporting Pre-Season Brook House 1 Leverstock Green 8 Saturday 23rd July 2022 Leverstock Green’s pre-season has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride, which hasn’t been helped by Fergus Moore not having all of his players available at any one time due to holidays. An opening 5-3 win against Broadfields United was followed by a 7-1 defeat to Egham Town, while last week’s excellent 2-2 draw against AFC Dunstable was followed by an 8-2 defeat in heat wave conditions at North Greenford United on Tuesday night. A muchimproved performance on Thursday night saw Leverstock beaten 4-2 at home by Isthmian League side Uxbridge. Again there were a number of core squad members missing for Saturday’s match against Brook House at Rectory Park, but the side turned in their best performance so far to record an impressive 8-1 win which could have been ever greater but for the woodwork being hit several times. There were a number of near-misses in the opening five minutes, but it took until the 11th minute for Leverstock to take the lead, with Lewis Collins showing some nice footwork in the box before drilling home a low shot from a narrow angle. Goalkeeper Oscar Frost maintained the lead with a couple of good saves before the Green side took control of the game with two goals inside a minute. Firstly in the 19th minute George Mitchell-Gears floated in a lob from the right touchline, which may have been intended as a cross but flew straight over the keeper’s outstretched arm into the top corner of the net. Then a minute later Collins added his second with a simple tap-in after the keeper had parried a shot. A trialist added the fourth goal in the 25th minute with a simple shot home, and it was 5-0 in the 30th minute when Collins laid the ball back for Mitchell-Gears to shoot home his second goal. Five changes were made at half time but Leverstock continued to impress, and the sixth goal came in the 53rd minute when the trialist crossed for Collins to complete his hat trick from close range. In the 59th minute it was 7-0 as Callum Moore had a run at goal and hit a shot, which brought a good save out of the keeper, however Collins followed in to net his fourth of the afternoon. Moore should have added a goal himself in the 65th minute as Mitchell-Gears set him up with a chance, but he somehow hit the bar from a couple of yards out. A clean sheet would have been welcome, but it was not to be as Brook House pulled a goal back in the 81st minute. However, two minutes later Jack Allen set up Mitchell-Gears to complete his hat trick and restore the seven-goal advantage. Leverstock have two remaining friendlies to complete before their opening league game. They are at home to Hadley on Tuesday night, and at home to Totternhoe next Saturday. Starting XI: 1. Alan Lee Reporting Pre-Season Leverstock Green 0 Hadley 4 Leverstock Green 2 Totternhoe 3 Hadley Report In their penultimate pre-season friendly, Leverstock Green faced Hadley, who start this season in the Southern League having been promoted from the Spartan South Midlands League last season. It was a tough game for Fergus Moore’s side, but after a mostly even start to the game a sloppy end to the first half saw them 3-0 down at the break. Leverstock put some pressure on the Hadley goal in the opening five minutes, winning a couple of corners, but early injuries saw both Ollie Cox and Robin Emanuels replaced, which unsettled the side. Hadley took the lead in the 21st minute with a scorcher of a shot from long-range that flew past keeper Josh Mollison, playing his first game for the club. Leverstock had their best chance of the game in the 27th minute when Luke Beckwith got on the end of a corner from Ibrahim Nagheeb, but shot just over the bar. Hadley scored a second goal in the 43rd minute when they were allowed too much space on the edge of the box to hit a low shot into the corner of the net. In the final minute of the half a free kick floated into the box went over the head of a Leverstock defender and allowed Hadley to shoot a third goal in off the post, leaving a half time score of 3-0 that didn’t reflect how the half had gone. The second half saw Hadley well on top playing down the slope, but a backs-to-the-wall effort saw the Leverstock defence only concede one further goal, when Hadley broke away from a Leverstock corner in the 66th minute. All of the squad that were present saw some action, with 19 players used during the course of the game. Totternhoe Report Leverstock Green concluded their pre-season programme with a home defeat to SSML Division Two side Totternhoe. Varying degrees of player unavailability and injuries have meant that the pre-season preparation has been more disjointed than Fergus Moore would have liked, but there are still plenty of positives to take into their league opener against Risborough Rangers on Tuesday night, particularly the performance of centre back Luke Durnin in his first game. Leverstock almost took the lead in the 20th minute when a free kick from Chris Blunden brought a save out of the visiting keeper. Luke Beckwith was first to the rebound but put it over the bar. Within a minute the ball was at the other end and Totternhoe had taken the lead. In the 29th minute a pass from Beckwith put Sean Walsh through on goal, but he was denied by the keeper. However, shortly afterwards Blunden found the space on the edge of the penalty area to hit a low shot that levelled the scores. Ethan Mooney hit the woodwork with a cross in the 36th minute. Avoidable goals in the 47th and 65th minute put the visitors into a 3-1 lead, however a superb longrange strike from Ibrahim Nagheeb pulled a goal back in the 71st minute.

Risborough Rangers FC Club History

Risborough Rangers Football Club started in 1970 as a team of 12-year olds who wanted to play competitive football. The main motivators were Life Presidents Tony Elsey and Derek Wallace. Derek was instrumental in forming the Wycombe Star League that now provides football for hundreds of youngsters in the Wycombe area, and Risborough Rangers currently have teams at all ages ranging from the Under 10 to Under 16 playing in this league. In the 1975/76 season, the previous years Under 16's went into the Wycombe & District League as a men's team, and in their second season in adult football won the 3rd Division. Unfortunately, the team then folded, after which the club provided only boy's football until the Under 16's of 1979/80, having won the UnitedCarr Cup, went into the Reading Youth League for two seasons, and then the Wycombe & District League. They won promotion in successive seasons and were followed two years later by the following years Under 16's as a reserve team, who emulated the feats of their predecessor, ending up in the Ercol Senior League and the FA Walters Premier League consecutively. At around this time, Rangers moved to 'Windsors', their current ground. 'Windsors' had been the home of the now defunct Princes Risborough Town FC who were one of the founder members of the Hellenic league in 1953. Within several years, club members had managed to improve the ground substantially by building the clubhouse. In 1989 Risborough accepted an invitation to join the South Midlands League Division 1. In the first two seasons the club found the level difficult and finished second from the bottom and therefore had to apply for re-election. The 1991/92 season saw a great improvement when Risborough finished in 8th position whilst also celebrating its 21st anniversary. In the 1994/95 season, they were promoted to the newly formed Senior Division, after finishing 4th under the management of Frank Carter and they consolidated with a midtable position in the next season. In the mid-90s, Bob Rayner became manager for the first time and saw the establishment of a sound youth policy with an Under 18's team in the Wycombe & South Bucks Youth League. After a reasonably successful spell, in which the club reached the semi-final of the Senior Division Cup and the quarter final of the Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy, Bob was offered the job of Brackley Town manager in the Southern league and took the opportunity to test himself at a higher level. After Bob left at the start of the 1998/99 season, former assistant Jon Franklin took over as manager and maintained a consistent level of football at the club. After Jon’s' departure, the club began to struggle and were eventually relegated to Division Two. In 2005, chairman Richard Woodward persuaded Bob Rayner to return to the club following his departure from Thame United. Finishing fourth in his first two seasons back and just missing out on the runners up spot in the final game in the second season, Bob has had to rebuild his side from the Rangers junior ranks. He has patiently waited for his young side to blossom and the patience began to pay off in the 2010/11 season when Rangers achieved a fifth-place finish and reached the semi-final of the Challenge Trophy, losing 2-0 to the eventual winner and Premier Division champions, Chalfont St Peter. On route to the semifinal, Rangers beat four teams from divisions above them including division one champions Berkhamsted Town.

The 2011/12 season was Risborough's best season of late with a late charge securing runners up spot in the league, and a first cup final reached in over 20 years, losing the Anagram Records Trophy final 1-0 to Baldock Town of the Hertfordshire County Senior League. The next season brought two good cup runs. Risborough's progress in the Anagram Record's Trophy was halted in the Semi Final by Baldock Town. The rematch of the previous season’s final ended up with the same score line as Baldock went on to defend the trophy. A second cup final in two years was achieved via the Division 2 cup, although the prospect of lifting the cup once again alluded Rangers, this time losing 2 nil to Aston Clinton. A league finish of fourth was achieved, and with the hard work off the pitch, including securing the funding for floodlights which were erected in time for the 2012/13 season. In 2016 Risborough finally won some silverware, after several near misses over the last few years. The Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup was claimed after a 2-1 AET win over United Counties League Olney Town. 2016/17 season saw Bob Rayner retire and his son Jamie take charge saw the club finish in a creditable 6th position and reach the semi-finals of the Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup before losing on penalties to eventual winners Woodley United. The 2017/8 season started with some promise but sadly this didn’t last with the club finishing in 8th place, the highlight of the campaign, however, was a run in the Challenge Trophy which included victories over Premier Division sides Leighton Town, Oxhey Jets, Edgware Town and London Colney, but alas were beaten 3-1 in the Final by fellow Division One side Broadfields United at Colney Heath. In October 2018 then current manager Jamie Rayner decided to step down from his position because of work commitments. The Club advertised the position and after a healthy response, the Board appointed the former Hemel Hempstead Town, Arlesey Town, Leighton Town Aylesbury United, Aylesbury FC boss Mark Eaton as their new man. When Eaton took over the club were 19th in Division One and a massive negative goal difference but come the end of the season Rangers finished in 7th spot with a positive goal difference as the season was turn on it’s head. The season ended though with some silverware when London Lions were defeated 2-0 in the final of the Spartan South Midlands League Division One Cup, which was played at Leverstock Green. Because of the ongoing re-construction of the non-league system the club made a lateral movement to the Hellenic League Division One East from the Spartan for the start of the 2019/20 season. The 2019/20 season saw Rangers unbeaten and top the league by 12 points with a game in hand over 2nd place Abingdon United after playing 23 games out of the full 32. The COVID pandemic put an end to any hopes of promotion to step 5 for the first time in the clubs history however as the season was officially voided. However, in 2021 the club were promoted to the Premier Division of the Spartan South Midlands League based on their results in the abandoned 2019–20 and 2020–21 seasons. Leverstock Green FC History & Honours 1919 - 1921

28th August 1920 - the following note on Leverstock Green’s Football Club appeared in the Hemel Hempstead Gazette: Mr.. L.R. Seabrook is this year the Secretary of the Leverstock Green Football Club whose headquarters will be at “The Leather Bottle”. Last year’s secretary Mr.. D. Cox is assistant secretary; H. Gentle is Captain and A. Hobbs “vice”. The club are anticipating a good season and have entered the following competitions: West Hertfordshire League (Div.II), Minor Cup, Webster Cup and the Hertfordshire Junior Cup. [Gazette 28th August 1920; S303] 25th December 1920 - A Christmas Day Friendly football match between Leverstock Green & Chipperfield was played in the village.. EJA Peter Peters Cup Final Wednesday 11th May vs. Welwyn Garden City The Under-15s ended their season with a deserved trophy as they lifted the EJA Peter Peters Cup on Wednesday night. The Leverstock side earned the trophy with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Welwyn Garden City U15 in Wednesday night’s final played at Ware F.C. There were early chances for the Green side, with Joe Sadler’s free kick bringing a great save out of the WGC keeper on 12 minutes, and Shay Kelly heading over the bar from the resulting corner. In the 16th minute Lucas Georgiou set up a chance for Josh Weidner, but he shot wide. The goal came in the 30th minute, as Georgiou got on the end of a free kick with a looping header that came down off the bar. A defender tried to clear off the line but the linesman flagged to indicate that the ball had crossed the line. There was almost a second goal five minutes into the second half when Sadler hit a fierce shot from distance, which the keeper did well to tip over the bar. However, over the last half-hour of the game the long season started to take its toll on the Leverstock side, as they looked out on their feet. The side had to dig very deep under constant pressure from the Welwyn side, which had a couple of agonising near misses. Green keeper Freddie Burroughs was very impressive, often having to come off his line to thwart breakaways from the Welwyn side. A long period of stoppage time saw several Leverstock players go down suffering with cramp, but they held out until the end to claim a well-deserved trophy at the end of a season where they were just piped by Berkhamsted to the U15 Brown Division title.

VICE PRESIDENTS CLUB 2022-23 Leverstock Green Football Club would like to thank the Vice Presidents for their help and assistance pledged for last season. Step 5 and Step 6 Promotion and Relegation Changes have been made to the promotion and relegation guidelines given in the summer for Step 5 of the FA’s National League System. This is due to vacancies that have arisen in the NLS for a variety of reasons. At Step 4, the 8 Clubs finishing 4th bottom and 2 clubs ending 3rd bottom with the highest PPG now do not have to take part in the Inter-Step Play-Offs. This leaves 6 eligible Step 4 Clubs for the Play-Offs and 16 eligible 2nd placed Clubs at Step 5. As a result, the Clubs finishing in 2nd position at Step 5 are ranked on PPG with the 10 highest being automatically promoted. The 6 remaining Step 4 Clubs and 6 remaining Step 5 Clubs are placed into geographical groupings and paired by PPG as per the Play-Off Criteria 12 Clubs finishing in the bottom two across Step 5 will now be reprieved from relegation ranked on PPG. It has to be noted that the above situation is the current position and could change if the Committee feels there is a valid reason in the best interest of the NLS.
