Outreach – Working with local rough sleepers to build trust and offer access to any services needed – with a focus on bringing people into safe and stable accommodation.

The Elms – A 44-bed hostel providing emergency and short-term accommodation to single, homeless adults.

Crash Pad – Emergency overnight accommodation offered to people when we are unable to accommodate them immediately at The Elms.

Move On – Providing support for The Elms residents into more independent living in shared accommodation.

Resettlement – Supporting clients moving from The Elms or Move On into council, social housing, or private rental.

Foodbank – Providing emergency food parcels and household provisions to local individuals and families.

In the Community – Supporting people in the community during this cost-of-living crisis and helping reduce the need to visit our Foodbank.

Social Enterprises – Developing employability skills and self-confidence in a supportive environment, while also raising income.

Visiting Club History:

In the summer of 1995, the players and officials of Maccabi Association London (MAL) decided that they had reached the limits of Sunday football and that a new challenge was required. The Hertfordshire Senior County League was a popular choice, and the club made its debut in the 95/96 season under a new name of MALEX. Four years later the club had made many friends but had narrowly missed out on promotion from Division 1 in each season. During the summer of 1999, the club revised its management structure, and decided to change its name to LONDON MACCABI LIONS, whilst retaining its all-Jewish status. Under the management team of Bobby Fisher and Adam Solomons the 1st team lost only three league games that season as they won the Division 1 and reached the semi-finals of the Aubrey Cup.

The club grew into one of the strongest teams in the Premier League but had to wait to land its first major honour in 2007 when Lions beat Metropolitan Police to lift the Herts Centenary Trophy. This was supplemented by the Reserves who were also promoted as champions, in 2002, and made it to three Herts Reserve Cup finals, winning one in 09/10. After a decade in the Herts Premier, in 2009/10

now under the stewardship of Tony Gold and Steve Grenfell, Lions won the Herts Senior County League for the first time in the club’s history, winning promotion to the Spartan South Midlands League in the process.

The following season – the club’s first in the South Midlands Division One – they added a second Herts Centenary Trophy beating Letchworth Garden City Eagles 32 in the final. Lions were able to go on better in 2012/13, winning the South Midlands Division One title and promotion to the heights of the South Midlands Premier Division. The club also made their debut in the FA Cup, winning 4-0 against Clapton.Now just one league away from semi-professional football, it was a tall order for a team missing a number of players who had departed following promotion, and so 2013/14 saw Lions suffer their first ever relegation at the end of a difficult season. Having steadied the ship, the club decided to return to the Herts Senior County League for 2015/16 in order to rebuild.

Seeking to promote a new generation under manager Andy Landesberg, there was immediate reward by winning the Anagram Records Trophy at the end of their first season, with most of the starting XI having come through the club’s massive youth set up. We then achieved an unprecedented treble in winning the league, Centenary Trophy and, for the first time, the Aubrey Cup.The club was welcomed back to Spartan South Midlands League where we have won further

honours in the shape of the Division One Cup (2018), Herts Centenary Trophy (2019) and Spring Cup (2021) while threatening to get promotion to the Premier Division before Covid struck.

The club was reassigned to the Combined Counties League Division One in the summer of 2021 and we are again targeting promotion to the next step, as well as representing our community with pride.The club was promoted to step 5 in 2021/2022 season On a sundrenched Bank Holiday Monday at Rowley Lane 5th May 2025, London Lions made history in front of a passionate home crowd, overcoming Wormley Rovers in a tense and thrilling Spartan South Midlands Premier Division play-off final. After a 1-1 draw in regulation time, the Lions held their nerve to win 4-3 on penalties—securing a first-ever promotion to Step 4 of the FA pyramid in the club’s proud history.Having finished the regular season in fourth—just one place and one point above today’s opponents—London Lions showed their quality and determination throughout the play-off campaign.

After an impressive away semi-final victory at Cockfosters, they stepped up again in the final, backed by an electric Rowley Lane atmosphere.Wormley Rovers had the game’s first opportunity, but it was the Lions who struck first. A dangerous in-swinging corner from Max Davis caused chaos in the Wormley box. Goalkeeper Carlos Simeon

couldn’t deal with the delivery, and as Luke Marshall desperately tried to clear, he only succeeded in heading the ball into the roof of his own net. A dream start for the Lions 1-0.The visitors responded with pressure of their own, forcing Lions’ ever-reliable keeper Nathan Bloohn into two strong saves from Joshua Asiedu and Reece Mosanya. Eventually, Wormley found a way through, with Asiedu finishing neatly into the bottom corner after a smart turn just outside the box. It was a blow—but one this resilient Lions side absorbed with typical composure. Before the break, the home side came close to restoring their lead. Max Davis continued to pull the strings in midfield, first sliding in Daniel Creese, whose shot was saved, before firing a thunderous effort just over the bar after strong hold-up play from Max Kyte.The second half saw both sides battle for control, but chances were few and far between. Wormley had the better of the opportunities late on, but again Bloohn came to the Lions’ rescue with a number of key saves, including a brave block from Erald Desa’s low drive and sharp handling from a Ryan Stevenson curling effort.As full-time approached, London Lions pushed for a winner. Benji Weinberger’s dangerous cross picked out Louie Basso at the back post, but his header went just over—agonisingly close to snatching victory in the dying moments.

And so it went to penalties. Under pressure, the Lions showed remarkable calm. After both teams converted their first spot-kicks, Bloohn—heroic all afternoon—made the first breakthrough, saving from George Beattie. Weinberger calmly slotted home to make it 2-1. Further conversions followed, making it 3-2.Then, the nerves took over—both sides missed their next efforts. When Wormley keeper Simeon stepped up and scored, it was down to one final penalty. Enter Jack Mattey. Composed and clinical, he buried the winner with authority sparking scenes of joy as Rowley Lane erupted.

History made. Job done. Step 4, here we come.This achievement represents a landmark moment for London Lions—a club built on togetherness, belief, and ambition. Against a strong Wormley side, the Lions showed courage, character, and class. Congratulations to the entire squad, coaching team, and supporters—your club is now a Step 4 team.

Leverstock Green Reserves drew 1-1 at home to St Margaretsbury in Tuesday night’s HSCL game. Both goals came in the first half, with George Eldridge equalising after the visitors had taken the lead.

Leverstock Green 2 vs 0 Milton Keynes Irish

Leverstock Green secured a third season at Step 4 with four games to spare as their three points against MK Irish on Good Friday gave them an unassailable 15 point gap from the drop zone and lifted them up to the dizzy heights of 15th in the Southern League Division One Central table. It was a third straight win for Fergus Moore’s side, all of them by the same score of 2-0.

For the most part this was an end-of-season game with little quality on display, certainly not helped by the difficult windy conditions. Leverstock had their goalkeeper Ashton Broome-Alexander to thank for keeping them in the game as the visitors had the only three efforts on goal of the first half. Broome-Alexander turned a shot from Ryan Smith round the post in the 6th minute, and produced a similar save at the other post in the 27th minute from the same player. In the 40th minute Broome-Alexander pulled off a great save with his legs to keep out a close range shot from Owen Brooks.

The second half proceeded in a similar fashion, with what few chances there were being created by the visitors. In the 58th minute Clinton Zawe headed wide from a corner. In the 72nd minute Kyle Boyce was through on goal, but Broome-Alexander produced another great save with his legs, and recovered to keep out follow-up efforts from Kwai Marsh-Brown and James Meadows.

With Enfield losing their game, the point would have been enough for Leverstock to confirm their safety, but having not had a meaningful effort on goal for the first 83 minutes of the game, they went on to take all three points with a smash and grab. In the 84th minute two substitutes combined as Joe McCarthy crossed from the right to find Jack Allen in the box, but before Allen could do anything with the ball he was brought down. The referee pointed to the penalty spot, and Jeffrey Sekyere stepped up to net his 25th goal of the season from the spot kick.

Better was to come in the first minute of stoppage time. Kombe Kawimbe played a long ball from his own half which should have been intercepted on the edge of the box, but the defender slipped to leave Allen through on goal, and he slotted the ball under keeper Tom Ladyman to score the crucial second goal for the third game in a row.

Leverstock have four games remaining, with the next one being a visit to AFC Dunstable on Easter Monday, and will now be looking to see just how high up the table they can finish.

AFC Dunstable 0 vs 9 Leverstock Green

Last season Leverstock Green visited AFC Dunstable on the last day of the season and claimed the win they needed to maintain their Step 4 status. There was less at stake this season as Leverstock had already secured safety on Good Friday with four games to spare, but they were in no mood to relax on Easter Monday as Fergus Moore’s side turned in a professional and ruthless performance to put nine goals past the division’s bottom side. It was Leverstock’s biggest win for eight years and their fourth straight win – the first time they have achieved such a run in the Southern League.

Leverstock were on top from the start, and went close to opening the scoring in the 6th minute when Iker Noguera Leon’s shot took a deflection and was saved by keeper Noah Vaughan. A minute later Leverstock were awarded the first of three penalties in the game as Joe McCarthy’s run into the box was ended by a push from defender Tyrelle Joseph. Jeffrey Sekyere took the spot kick, and although Vaughan got a hand to it, the ball still went into the net for Sekyere’s 26th goal of the season.

Vaughan saved again to keep out McCarthy’s close range effort in the 12th minute, and three minutes later Jack Allen headed over the bar from a McCarthy cross. However, the second goal eventually arrived in the 19th minute as McCarthy’s cross dropped for Leon, who took the ball past a defender before drilling it into the bottom corner. Just over a minute later it became 3-0 as McCarthy pounced on some hesitant defending in the box to steal the ball and shoot past Vaughan.

The fourth goal arrived in the 39th minute as Rio Beach cut in from the left touchline and got to the bye-line before pulling it back for Allen, who took a touch before firing home his fourth goal in four games from close range. Allen should have had another in first half stoppage time when a great pass from Leon put him in behind the last defender, but his lob over Vaughan went just over the bar.

The goals continued to come in the second half. In the 55th minute the referee spotted a handball by an AFC defender in the box, and awarded the second penalty of the game. Kombe Kawimbe was given the chance to score his first goal for the club, and duly obliged by sending Vaughan the wrong way from the spot kick to make it 5-0.

Four substitutions were made early in the second half, those coming on included Radu-Mihai Stefanoaica, and youngster George Eldridge, currently top scorer for

both the reserves and the under-18s. Stefanoaica went on to score the game’s next two goals. In the 64th minute he picked up the ball on the right before heading into the box on a solo run and firing home into the corner of the net. In the 74th minute Stefanoaica cut in from the left and got to the bye-line before squeezing the ball past Vaughan into the top corner of the net from a seemingly impossible angle.

Two minutes later a ball was played forward to Eldridge on the edge of the box. He did enough to get the ball down and hold it up for Allen to pick up the pieces and blast another shot past Vaughan for his second goal of the game and Leverstock’s eighth. In the 87th minute Marcus Warren got on the end of a cross from Sekyere and tried to take the ball past a defender but was brought down in the box to give Leverstock their third penalty of the game. Sekyere was back on penalty duty and was successful again for his 27th goal of the season and Leverstock’s ninth of the game.

Ashton Broome-Alexander had seen little action during the afternoon, but had to be on his toes in the last minute to keep out a shot from Reginald Aboagye and preserve his fourth straight clean sheet. The result took Leverstock’s goal difference into the positive for the first time since August and maintains the pressure on the two teams immediately above them.

A few words about KitAid

KitAid is a charity set up by, Derrick Williams MBE, who visited Tanzania on a WaterAid supporters’ trip in 1998. Derrick, being a mad footie fan, was amazed at the reception he received from children and adults in remote villages just because he was wearing one of his favourite football shirts (he follows Watford, Liverpool and Chesham Utd).

After two weeks in Tanzania, a flame was lit in Derrick’s heart, and he was on a mission to provide kit and equipment to the bare-footed children playing with footballs made of tied string and plastic bags. Twenty-one years on, KitAid has lots of volunteers and to date we’ve sent out 900,000+ kits to children and adults in 55 different countries across the world.

LEVERSTOCK GREEN | LEVELS RISING

It's been a successful journey for Nat Connolly

The story of Nat Connolly’s rise through the levels to go on to make 100 appearances for Leverstock Green is inspiring.

The all-action midfield general had racked up over a century of appearances for Totternhoe at Step 7 by the age of 21 to earn his chance with Green in the summer of 2023.

His determined displays in the engine room of the side helped the club secure promotion into the Southern League where Connolly has thrived over the past 14 months.

“I remember joining the club and worrying that the jump in level would be too much for me,” he admitted to us. “I’d previously

played all of my football at Step 7, so I didn’t know if I would be able to get to grips with Step 5.

“I joined the club not knowing anyone and feeling that I had a lot to prove, but I was made to feel welcome by everyone straight away and that really helped me to hit the ground running.

“With the help and support of those around me, I knuckled down, worked hard and that first season was really memorable as we secured promotion into the Southern League.

“Then the question is can I do it at Step 4? Last season we managed to achieve our objective of staying at this level and I was pleased with the way in which I adapted to the added demands of this level.

“To have reached 100 appearances in just under two and-a-half seasons means a lot. I am proud to have established myself in the team and I’m really enjoying my football amongst some great people.”

Saturday’s 100th game saw Connolly put in an energetic display in a 1-1 draw at Northwood.

“I felt that I played well,” he added. “I try and base my game on energy and I made sure that I kept the levels high. I tried to get forward a bit more and almost nicked a goal at one point.

“We weren’t happy with our first half performance, but we managed to get a grip of things after the break and deservedly equalised. Sadly, it was too little too late in terms of being able to find a winner and we had to be content with a point in the end.

“We know that we need to start turning some of our draws into wins in order to start climbing the table.

“There have already been a few surprise results this season throughout the division; it’s clear that everyone is capable of beating each other and it’s going to be very competitive once more.

“First and foremost our main aim is to survive, but I believe that we can achieve more and there is no reason why we can't improve upon last season’s finishing position. We’ve got a season’s experience under our belt now and we know that we have to pick up as many points as we can early on to give us a base to build on for the second half of the season.

“We seem to perform well against the better teams, but it’s the games against those teams around us where we need to start picking up more points.

“In terms of personal targets, I just want to keep enjoying my football and continue to play regularly.”

A home game against high-flying Ware is next up for Connolly and his team-mates at the weekend.
