Outreach – Working with local rough sleepers to build trust and offer access to any services needed – with a focus on bringing people into safe and stable accommodation. The Elms – A 44-bed hostel providing emergency and short-term accommodation to single, homeless adults. Crash Pad – Emergency overnight accommodation offered to people when we are unable to accommodate them immediately at The Elms. Move On – Providing support for The Elms residents into more independent living in shared accommodation. Resettlement – Supporting clients moving from The Elms or Move On into council, social housing, or private rental. Foodbank – Providing emergency food parcels and household provisions to local individuals and families. In the Community – Supporting people in the community during this cost-of-living crisis and helping reduce the need to visit our Foodbank. Social Enterprises – Developing employability skills and self-confidence in a supportive environment, while also raising income.

Scott and Ferg’s 250th Game Scott and Ferg’s 250th game in charge was last week. So we would like to thank them for what they have done for the club, and for their continuing efforts to bring the club as far as they can. Dan caught up with Scott after the game and asked him some questions about the time they have been with the club. Q - Your first competitive game in charge was a 1–0 FA Cup defeat away at Stanway Rovers back in August 2021. If you could go back to that dressing room before kick-off, what would you tell yourselves knowing what the next 249 games would bring? A - I would say to trust in the process that we believed we could create from the first training session. Accept the lows and don’t get too exuberant with the highs. Q- When you took the job, did either of you genuinely believe you’d still be here 250 competitive games later? A - I definitely didn’t expect to be anywhere near 250 games. When we first joined we invited all season before squad to pre-season. And from senior players only Dan Weeks actually stayed to give us a chance. Q - Looking back at the club you inherited compared with the Leverstock Green FC of today, what do you think has changed the most? A - ⁠Well the first thing we insisted on was that the bar stays open past 5.30 on a Saturday. We made a conscious effort to make sure that any player we signed would buy into creating a club environment that everyone can enjoy. That’s committee members, supporters and players. Q- You’ve had some incredible days at the club. If you had to pick one single moment from the first 249 games that stands above everything else, what would it be, and why?

A - ⁠That’s an easy one. The play off Final. To have 1000 supporters in Pancake lane. The work everyone had to do in a few days to play the final was amazing and probably something the club will never do again. Then for the players to play the way they did in the final was just incredible. Q - And on the flip side, what has been the toughest moment you’ve experienced as managers? A - ⁠Probably last pre season. After staying at step 4 on last game of the season we hoped that players would want to return and push on the following season. This was not how it happened. We only had a few players willing to stay. Recruiting was hard due to financial constraints. Every player we approached thinks we are step 4 and loads of money like everyone else in the division. What know realised was we got promoted on no budget and stayed up on £15 a week per player. Credit must go to the group of players that stayed because result was hard to come by but they stuck at it and trusted us as staff to get players in and turn it around. Q - Last season saw the club achieve its highest-ever league finish. What did that achievement mean to you personally? A - Finishing in the clubs highest ever position of 12th at step 4 was just unbelievable. As I said last pre season was tough and then to think we entered the bottom 4 of the league around about Xmas. To then finish 12th. All credit players who stayed and the new recruits we managed to get in. Ferg’s little black book and Aaron’s constant messaging of players really did the trick. Q - You’ve been side-by-side for 250 games. What do you think is the biggest strength of your partnership and what does the other one do that drives you absolutely mad? A- ⁠I would say our biggest strength is that we both hate losing and are passionate about football. We don’t always see eye to eye. Neither of us are yes men. We would say our point on selection of team and tactics and then between us go with what we think is best for the team for that game. As for drive me mad it has to be Ferg on the sidelines. Doesn’t matter if he is praising a player or having a go at them. It’s always in a tone that feels it’s more having a go. There is no difference. I’m sure the players always think he is having a go.

Oh also when Ferg decides to show everyone his lucky Paddy power pants. Thats a sight no one needs to see. Q - When your time at Leverstock Green eventually comes to an end, what do you hope people will say about Scott and Fergie’s time in charge? A - As for after we go you hope that supporters and club staff will see that we created that environment we promised in the interview. A club everyone can be proud of. That we also achieved promotion and cup wins during our time with memories for everyone associated with the club. The truth is what people say will not bother me at all. As it will probably mean we have been sacked so people will think that we deserved to go as results not good enough.

Visiting Club History: In the summer of 1995, the players and officials of Maccabi Association London (MAL) decided that they had reached the limits of Sunday football and that a new challenge was required. The Hertfordshire Senior County League was a popular choice, and the club made its debut in the 95/96 season under a new name of MALEX. Four years later the club had made many friends but had narrowly missed out on promotion from Division 1 in each season. During the summer of 1999, the club revised its management structure, and decided to change its name to LONDON MACCABI LIONS, whilst retaining its all-Jewish status. Under the management team of Bobby Fisher and Adam Solomons the 1st team lost only three league games that season as they won the Division 1 and reached the semi-finals of the Aubrey Cup. The club grew into one of the strongest teams in the Premier League but had to wait to land its first major honour in 2007 when Lions beat Metropolitan Police to lift the Herts Centenary Trophy. This was supplemented by the Reserves who were also promoted as champions, in 2002, and made it to three Herts Reserve Cup finals, winning one in 09/10. After a decade in the Herts Premier, in 2009/10 now under the stewardship of Tony Gold and Steve Grenfell, Lions won the Herts Senior County League for the first time in the club’s history, winning promotion to the Spartan South Midlands League in the process. The following season – the club’s first in the South Midlands Division One – they added a second Herts Centenary Trophy beating Letchworth Garden City Eagles 3-2 in the final. Lions were able to go on better in 2012/13, winning the South Midlands Division One title and promotion to the heights of the South Midlands Premier Division. The club also made their debut in the FA Cup, winning 4-0 against Clapton.Now just one league away from semi-professional football, it was a tall order for a team missing a number of players who had departed following promotion, and so 2013/14 saw Lions suffer their first ever relegation at the end of a difficult season. Having steadied the ship, the club decided to return to the Herts Senior County League for 2015/16 in order to rebuild. Seeking to promote a new generation under manager Andy Landesberg, there was immediate reward by winning the Anagram Records Trophy at the end of their first season, with most of the starting XI having come through the club’s massive youth set up. We then achieved an unprecedented treble in winning the league, Centenary Trophy and, for the first time, the Aubrey Cup.The club was welcomed back to Spartan South Midlands League where we have won further honours in the shape of the Division One Cup (2018), Herts Centenary Trophy (2019) and Spring Cup (2021) while threatening to get promotion to the Premier Division before Covid struck.The club was reassigned to the Combined Counties League Division One in the summer of 2021 and we are again targeting promotion to the next step, as well as representing our community with pride.The club was promoted to step 5 in 2021/2022 season On a sun-drenched Bank Holiday Monday at Rowley Lane 5th May 2025, London Lions made history in front of a passionate home crowd, overcoming Wormley Rovers in a tense and thrilling Spartan South Midlands Premier Division play-off final . After a 1-1 draw in regulation time, the Lions held their nerve to win 4-3 on penalties—securing a first-ever promotion to Step 4 of the FA pyramid in the club’s proud history.Having finished the regular season in fourth—just one place and one point above today’s opponents—London Lions showed their quality and determination throughout the play-off campaign. After an impressive away semi-final victory at Cockfosters, they stepped up again in the final, backed by an electric Rowley Lane atmosphere.Wormley Rovers had the game’s first opportunity, but it was the Lions who struck first. A dangerous in-swinging

corner from Max Davis caused chaos in the Wormley box. Goalkeeper Carlos Simeon couldn’t deal with the delivery, and as Luke Marshall desperately tried to clear, he only succeeded in heading the ball into the roof of his own net. A dream start for the Lions—1-0.The visitors responded with pressure of their own, forcing Lions’ ever-reliable keeper Nathan Bloohn into two strong saves from Joshua Asiedu and Reece Mosanya. Eventually, Wormley found a way through, with Asiedu finishing neatly into the bottom corner after a smart turn just outside the box. It was a blow—but one this resilient Lions side absorbed with typical composure. Before the break, the home side came close to restoring their lead. Max Davis continued to pull the strings in midfield, first sliding in Daniel Creese, whose shot was saved, before firing a thunderous effort just over the bar after strong hold-up play from Max Kyte.The second half saw both sides battle for control, but chances were few and far between. Wormley had the better of the opportunities late on, but again Bloohn came to the Lions’ rescue with a number of key saves, including a brave block from Erald Desa’s low drive and sharp handling from a Ryan Stevenson curling effort.As full-time approached, London Lions pushed for a winner. Benji Weinberger’s dangerous cross picked out Louie Basso at the back post, but his header went just over—agonisingly close to snatching victory in the dying moments.And so it went to penalties. Under pressure, the Lions showed remarkable calm. After both teams converted their first spot-kicks, Bloohn— heroic all afternoon—made the first breakthrough, saving from George Beattie. Weinberger calmly slotted home to make it 2-1. Further conversions followed, making it 3-2.Then, the nerves took over—both sides missed their next efforts. When Wormley keeper Simeon stepped up and scored, it was down to one final penalty. Enter Jack Mattey. Composed and clinical, he buried the winner with authority—sparking scenes of joy as Rowley Lane erupted.History made. Job done. Step 4, here we come.This achievement represents a landmark moment for London Lions—a club built on togetherness, belief, and ambition. Against a strong Wormley side, the Lions showed courage, character, and class. Congratulations to the entire squad, coaching team, and supporters—your club is now a Step 4 team.

Leverstock Green 3 Vs Egham Town 2 Leverstock Green beat Egham Town 3-2 in Tuesday night’s pre-season friendly. Goals from Joe McCarthy, Jack Allen and Marcus Warren saw Leverstock to a home victory against the Isthmian South Central side – the first step four side we have faced so far in pre-season.

Leverstock Green 2 Vs Harrow Borough 2 Leverstock Green came from behind twice to draw Saturday’s home friendly with Harrow Borough. After the visitors had taken the lead midway through the first half, Jack Allen levelled the scores with a fine finish before half time. Harrow went back in front from the penalty spot in the second half, but a late equaliser from a trialist made the final score 2-2.

Leverstock Green 3 – Watford U23s 1 Jack Allen scored a hattrick as Leverstock Green beat a Watford U23 side 31 in Tuesday night’s friendly.

Leverstock Green 2 vs 1 Walthamstow A dramatic stoppage time winner from Jack Allen secured Leverstock Green’s progress in the Emirates FA Cup, setting up an away tie against divisional rivals Ware in the next round, and ensuring a victory in the 250th game in charge for Fergus Moore and Scott McGleish. Visitors Walthamstow, from the Isthmian North Division, have endured a torrid summer with two managerial changes, and arrived at the Lords Builders Merchants Stadium with a squad containing many players that had only been signed in the past week. They had the better of the early play, though, forcing a double save from Leverstock keeper Finlay Penniston-Walker in the 8th minute, keeping out shots from Jordan Peart and Joden Trickett. Leverstock’s first chance came in the 13th minute when a fine cross from the right by George Eldridge found Allen in front of goal, but he headed over the bar. There was little else in the way of chances in the first half, but in the first minute of stoppage time Walthamstow took the lead when a corner from the right found William Oduwa to head home from close range. Leverstock made a stronger start to the second half, and their chances were boosted when the visitors were reduced to ten men, Nathaniel Orafu receiving a second yellow card in the 57th minute. They should have equalised a minute

later when Eldridge swung over another excellent cross but Allen couldn’t force it home at the far post. There was another chance in the 63rd minute when Joe McCarthy was put through and took the ball past the keeper, but as he steadied himself two defenders had got back to cover the line. McCarthy laid it back to Allen, but again he was off target, shooting over the bar. Allen shot over the bar again in the 68th minute in a scramble following a corner, and in the 74th minute Carmicheal Uchenna hit a free kick just wide. Leverstock rang the changes with four substitutions in nine minutes, and one of those substitutes proved crucial as they finally levelled the scores in the 81st minute. George Mitchell-Gears was on hand to drill home a shot through a crowd of players following another scramble in the six yard box. Leverstock continued to pile on the pressure over the closing minutes against the ten men, but as the game went into stoppage time it looked increasingly likely that the teams would meet again on Tuesday in a replay. However, as the game ticked into a seventh minute of stoppage time, the ball was played forward to Allen, and this time he made no mistake, lifting a shot past the keeper into the corner of the net to cue scenes of great celebration. Even then the game wasn’t over, and Leverstock were denied a third goal when a shot from Marcus Warren was

Of course, Step 5&6 clubs are already on the go – some have even played three or four games – ahead of the, slightly later than usual, FA Cup start this weekend. But as well as the extra preliminary round beginning – and keep an eye out for Step 4 clubs starting cold against lower tiered opponents whose engines are fully running – the new campaign for Steps 1-4 are also under starter’s orders. At last. The World Cup was good in patches but there’s nothing quite like a full fixture list. All the pre-season talk, the hopes and expectations are about to be fully tested when the first ball gets banged

into your penalty area with the sun, no doubt, beating down. Who will get off to a flyer? Who will thrive in the early months but fall away when the weather gets ugly? Who will stumble out of the blocks but regain their composure? Whatever league you are most interested in, you will have your favourites and dark horses. But the beauty of Non-League football is, despite the annual budget talk, the unexpected always happens. Can Boreham Wood, minutes away from promotion last term, shake-off any potential hangover and start fast? How will the new Step 4 teams get on? Who will make the most of a reprieve? This year brings another level of interest with the expansion of the play-offs at Steps 3&4 from four teams to six. It will mirror the format used by the National League and Steps 1 and 2 that has been largely deemed a success. The champions will go up as usual with second and third receiving byes into the semi-finals where they will face

victors from the fourth v seventh game and fifth v sixth eliminator games. Is it fair? Well, no play-off system is. But they do keep more seasons alive for longer. When clubs are fighting for every pound note they can get, having plenty at stake at the back end of the season can only be a good thing to draw in the punters. That’s for down the line after the long winter months. For now we’ll enjoy watching game with the sun on our necks. A few words about KitAid KitAid is a charity set up by, Derrick Williams MBE, who visited Tanzania on a WaterAid supporters’ trip in 1998. Derrick, being a mad footie fan, was amazed at the reception he received from children and adults in remote villages just because he was wearing one of his favourite football shirts (he follows Watford, Liverpool and Chesham Utd). After two weeks in Tanzania, a flame was lit in Derrick’s heart, and he was on a mission to provide kit and equipment to the bare-footed children playing with footballs made of tied string and plastic bags. Twenty-one years on, KitAid has lots of volunteers and to date we’ve sent out 900,000+ kits to children and adults in 55 different countries across the world. How to donate If you’d like to support the KitAid cause, the easiest way to donate your unwanted football kit, in order for us to find it a new home. Alternatively, if you don’t have any unwanted kit, but would still like to support us, we’re very grateful for any donations which will help to fund our annual costs as well as support other partnership charities where possible.
