Resettlement – Supporting clients moving from The Elms or Move On into council, social housing, or private rental.
Foodbank – Providing emergency food parcels and household provisions to local individuals and families.
In the Community – Supporting people in the community during this cost-of-living crisis and helping reduce the need to visit our Foodbank.
Social Enterprises – Developing employability skills and self-confidence in a supportive environment, while also raising income.

Visiting Club History:
Hertford Town Football Club is a football club based in Hertford, Hertfordshire, England. We currently compete in the Southern League Division One Central and play our games at the Smile IT Stadium. Established in 1901, we began under the name ‘Port Vale Rovers’ but it was quickly renamed to ‘Hertford Football Club’ to gain recognition as the town’s main club. Following a merger with Hertford United, we were renamed ‘Hertford Town’. We joined the Eastern Division of the Hertfordshire Senior County League for the 1908–09 season, which saw us finish as runners-up. We also moved from Hartham and began to play our games at Hertingfordbury Park. We were placed in the Central Division the following season, but finished bottom and were moved into the Eastern Division in 1910. We also competed in the East Herts League which we won in 1912-13.
The following season, we retained our title and finished as runner up of the Eastern Division. Around this time, a wooden stand was built, marking our first development of the ground. During the Second World War, the league was abandoned. When it restarted in 1945, we were placed in the Central Division, finishing bottom of the table in the 194546 season. Despite this poor performance, we were moved back into the Premier Division the following season, but we went on to finish bottom of the table again. The wooden stand was also destroyed by a fire in 1946, topping off a poor season for us. The ground's owner passed away the following year which forced us to drop out of football for a season due to the unavailability of the ground. We returned to the Spartan League in 1948, where we were placed into Division One East. After winning the division in 1949-50, we were promoted back to the Premier Division in 1950. The late 1950s saw the next major development in our ground.
Pitch drainage was improved, a wooden clubhouse was built and the ground was fully enclosed with a concrete wall. In 1959, a 300 seater stand with dressing rooms and a boardroom was completed, along with extra toilet facilities for the spectators in the ground. A four-step concrete terrace was built opposite this stand. A few years later, a six-step concrete terrace was completed at the south end of the ground behind the goal. This became known as ‘The Stable End’. Around these times, during the 1960-61 and the 1961-62 seasons, we joined the Delphian League and won back-to-back league titles. The 1962-63 season was abandoned due to bad weather but we won both the League Cup and the Eastern Section of the emergency competition. We also won the East Anglian Cup by beating Boston United 1–0 in the final, a match played at home in front of a crowd of 3,000. The Delphian League was then abandoned at the end of the season.
We, among many other teams from the Delphian League, joined the new Division Two of the Athenian League. We finished fourth in 1963-64 and earned promotion to Division One. We also went on to win the league's Memorial Shield in 1967–68. In 1974, a new clubhouse was built at a cost of over £25,000, which replaced the old wooden one. During this time, we switched leagues twice but settled in Division Two of the Isthmian League. The division was renamed Division One in 1977, and we were faced with relegation to Division Two North after finishing bottom in 1984-85. We were placed into Division three after some reorganisation from the league but earned promotion to Division Two after finishing runners-up in 1998–99. However, we were relegated the following season. On January 26th 1992, the clubhouse was destroyed by a fire and was replaced by a much smaller building. After further reorganisation from the league, we were placed in Division One North in 2002 but were quickly relegated to Division Two. After the division was disbanded in 2006, we joined the Premier Division of the Spartan South Midlands League. We finished runners-up in 2016-17 and were promoted to Division One North of the Isthmian League. At the end of the
2020-21 season which was heavily affected by Covid 19, we were transferred to Division One Central of the Southern League. In October 2021, we made more pitch developments by installing a cork-filled 3G pitch. Having this all-weather pitch has enabled us to share the ground with other clubs. In the 2022-23 season, St. Panteleimon FC used the Stadium for their home matches and in the 2023-24 season, Hatfield Town used the stadium for their home matches. In 2023, Smile IT Solutions sponsored the ground and renamed it ‘The Smile IT Stadium’. Currently, Hertford have united with Hertford Town Youth, Hertford Town Girls, Hertford Town Women's, Hertford Town’s Inclusive Team and Hertford Town’s Walking Football Team who all base themselves at the club, bringing the community together.
2024-2025 started slow for Hertford, not picking up their first win until October. They picked things up during the middle and latter stages of the season and ended with a respectable mid-table finish. A lot of changes occurred to playing and coaching staff in the pre-season of the 20252026 season, and they’ve started the season very well – two convincing FA Cup wins and an opening day victory in the league against Thame United. There’s a real sense of belief within the young squad and a push for promotion could very well be on the cards.

James is a reliable presence between the sticks for Hertford Town, returning for his second season, known for his sharp reflexes and commanding voice at the back. Calm under pressure, he has quickly become a fan favourite for his consistency and safe hands.
Oliver Porter
Oliver is a young hard-working midfielder, who is very capable in the back four, who covers every blade of grass. Comfortable on the ball and strong in the tackle, he adds energy and bite to the Hertford engine room.
Ben Herd
A vastly experienced defender, having played professionally for Watford, Shrewsbury and Aldershot, Ben brings leadership and know-how to the side. As well as owning the club, he also adds stability and guidance to Hertford’s back line.
Albert McGregor
Holding midfielder with bags of potential. Fantastic vision and can pick out a pass. Has graduated from Hertford Town’s developmental squad and brings stability to the first team.
Noah Mosanya
Winger with previous spells as Arlesey Town and Stevenage; not afraid to run at defenders and knows where the back of the net is.
Marcus Painter
Returning for a second season, a strong and silky young winger with bags of potential. Impresses with his ability to charge at defenders, and has a keen eye for goal.
Billy Mardell Smith
A non-stop young playmaker, formerly with Watford, who has graduated from the development squad. Captains the side and is player’s Player of the Season and supporters Young Player of the Season.
Finley Lynch
Young graduate of the developmental team, now getting and taking his chance in the first team. Strong target man up top, with fantastic strength and ability to hit the back of the net.
George Coomes
Confident young goalkeeper who progressed through the developmental team. Safe hands and quick reflexes.
Zen Cunningham
A graduate of Hertford’s youth academy, playing his second season at Hertford Town. Played also at Baldock Town and FC Romania; rapid player with keen eye to pick out the right pass.
Lawrence Ajong
Versatile striker previously at Baldock Town, where he bagged 14 goals in 22 appearances. Joins Hertford Town for the first time looking to continue that fine form.

Young academy player with good first team experience, Joe’s a fine young centre back and brings solidarity to the back four.

Leverstock Green
After two straight wins and five games unbeaten, Leverstock Green were unable to keep their run of results going despite a good performance away to playoff contenders Biggleswade FC. A goal midway through the second half decided a game in which Leverstock were missing skipper Dan Pett, who was unavailable, and the suspended Joe McCarthy.
Leverstock might have gone in front in the 15th minute when a corner from Carmicheal Uchenna looked to be going straight in at the far post until it was headed off the line by Sonny Coughlin-Brown. In the 38th minute Iker Noguera Leon tried a clever free kick routine to put Jeffrey Sekyere in on goal, but he miscued his shot wide.
Green keeper Ashton Broome-Alexander did well to turn a long-range shot from Michael Fisher wide in the 42nd minute, while another free kick from Leon was headed wide by Uchenna in the 45th minute. Broome-Alexander pulled off another great save in stoppage time to deny Alex Marsh from point blank range.
It was a similar story in the second half, with Broome-Alexander called into action again in the 54th minute to tip over a rasping shot from Tom Coles. Leverstock had a chance four minutes later when a great pass from George Mitchell-Gears gave Radu-Mihai Stefanoaica a run at goal, but his shot went into the side netting. A minute later Mitchell-Gears had a chance himself from a free kick, but his header was straight at the keeper.
The winning goal came in the 71st minute and it was very tough on Broome-Alexander, who first of all got a fingertip to a shot from Marsh to turn in onto the post, then got a hand to the follow-up effort from Bradley Bell, but could do nothing to stop Ryan Gray following in to net the rebound.
Leverstock were unable to find an equaliser in the remaining minutes, and there was a messy end to the game when skipper Ryan Carruthers was sent off for two yellow cards within a minute during stoppage time, and coach Aaron Eales was also dismissed for something said to the referee.

Leverstock Green 5 vs 0 AFC Dunstable
Leverstock Green added another crucial three points to their total with an impressive win over bottom side AFC Dunstable in Tuesday night’s Southern League Division One Central fixture.
An early goal was vital for the Leverstock side to settle their nerves, and it took just six minutes for them to open the scoring, as Iker Noguera Leon had a shooting chance on the edge of the box and hit a low shot out of the reach of keeper Noah Vaughan into the corner of the net. The second goal was not long arriving, as George Mitchell-Gears fired home a half-volley from just inside the box to notch the first goal of his current spell at the club.
There could have been a third in the 23rd minute as a neat passing move put Leon through on goal, but Vaughan got a hand to his shot to tip it round the post. Five minutes later Radu-Mihai Stefanoaica made a run into the box but his shot from a narrow angle was kept out by Vaughan’s legs. Leon had another shooting chance in the 38th minute but hit it straight at Vaughan.
The young AFC Dunstable side came more into the game in the last ten minutes of the half, and a foul from Olusegun Adedipe gave them a free kick just outside the box, but the shot was saved by Ashton BroomeAlexander.
Leverstock struggled to make any further ground early in the second half, and Broome-Alexander had to make another good save in the 59th minute to keep out a shot from a narrow angle. A double substitution on the hour saw Jack Allen and Luke Beckwith introduced, and added some pep to the Leverstock side.
Broome-Alexander made another crucial save in the 68th minute to punch away a dangerous cross, and within a minute Leverstock had their third goal. Allen hit a shot from the edge of the box which took a deflection off a defender and looped up over Vaughan’s head into the net as the big striker scored his first goal for the club.
Leverstock were playing with more freedom now, and top scorer Jeffrey Sekyere added his name to the scoresheet in the 78th minute, cutting in from the left on a solo run before drilling home a low shot from a narrow angle. There was more to come in the first minute of stoppage time as Allen went on a solo run into the box before firing home his second of the night and completing Leverstock’s biggest ever win in the Southern League.

Leverstock Green 2 vs 1 Marlow
Leverstock Green pulled a further three points away from the relegation zone with a crucial 2-1 win against Marlow in Saturday’s Southern League fixture, their fourth win in the last five games.
Leverstock welcomed back midfielder Ademide Baruwa, who rejoined from Northwood during the week, and after starting on the bench Baruwa was quickly into the action, replacing Marcus Warren, who had an eye injury, in the 17th minute. Another early enforced change saw Joe McCarthy, back from a two-game suspension, having to leave the game injured in the 24th minute to be replaced by Iker Noguera Leon.
The first half saw little in the way of clear-cut chances for either side. Late in the half Marlow won two free kicks in dangerous positions just outside the box, but both of them were hit straight at the wall. In the last minute of the half Radu-Mihai Stefanoaica’s pass gave Carmicheal Uchenna a run at goal, but his shot from a narrow angle was saved by keeper James Sharlott.
Two goals early in the second half put Leverstock in control. In the 49th minute a neat passing move was completed when Uchenna’s pass put Jeffrey Sekyere through on goal, and the club’s top scorer made no mistake, slipping the ball under Sharlott to open the scoring. Another impressive goal came three minutes later. Leon’s pass put Sekyere away down the left channel, and his low cross into the box was met by Stefanoaica to finish from close range for a 2-0 Leverstock lead.
There could have been further goals, with Baruwa having a shot saved by Sharlott in the 63rd minute, and Sekyere dribbling through only to shoot over the bar in the 66th minute.
Marlow had shown little threat to the Leverstock goal, but there was a danger sign in the 79th minute when Sebastian D’Aversa hit a shot just wide. Five minutes later the same player was there on the edge of the box when the ball dropped to him, and finished with a shot into the
corner of the net to pull a goal back and ensure another nervous finish for the Leverstock followers.
The two-goal lead could have been re-established in the 87th minute when Rio Beach broke away and set up Jack Allen, but Allen’s first shot was blocked and his follow-up effort was kept out by Sharlott’s legs.More than eight minutes of stoppage time were played, but as has been the case in recent games, Leverstock held their nerve and were able to get the win over the line.

LAST week, The NLP reported on a proposed restructuring of the National League System which will ultimately ensure that clubs at Steps 5 and 6 will travel shorter distances to away games.
At a meeting last month, the FA formally presented to league officials its plan to add seven new divisions at Step 6 – increasing the current number from 17 to 24.
The aim would be for each to have 18 clubs.
“It won’t be a perfect fit, but it’s probably the best fit for now,” Chris Stirrup, North West Counties League chairman, told us. “This isn’t an easy task.”
A review by the FA, with the objective of reducing the geographical footprint of existing divisions at Step 6, has been ongoing for a while.
It hopes to conclude by the end of this season so changes to the relevant regulations for promotion and relegation can be made before the start of next term.
Implementation could then follow for the 2027-28 campaign.
“The status quo isn’t sustainable for clubs in certain areas of the country,” said James Earl, head of National League System (NLS) at the FA, during an interview with The NLP last August.
“There are some that are really struggling with the travel distances, and we try to balance that with fluctuating division sizes, but I just don’t think that’s a palatable long-term solution.
“However, you can’t make quick decisions to alter the pyramid because you must ensure you’ve gone through the unintended consequences, worked out what the best solution is, and how you put that into practice.”
Currently, National League System regulations permit a maximum of 340 clubs at Step 6.
An increase of 92 would be needed at that level to fill 24 divisions with 18 members each.
While there has been discussion about how that could be achieved, no decision has been made.
One possibility is for the FA to reduce the number of relegations from Step 6 in the run-up to implementation, while another suggestion is for the regulations permitting only one club to be considered for promotion from each regional feeder league to be amended.
However, the bad news for Step 7 clubs looking for a free pass into the NLS is that stadium accreditation criteria are unlikely to be relaxed for applicant clubs from those competitions.
It also isn’t set in stone where the new divisions will be located, nor who might run them, but it is universally accepted there are some divisions in need of major surgery.
Take the Hellenic League Division One for example. Not long ago, this division was contested solely by clubs situated in the Thames Valley region of Berkshire and parts of Wiltshire alone.
w, however, it has branched out to the counties of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire and surrounding areas, such as parts of Oxfordshire, Shropshire, Northamptonshire and Warwickshire.
It means clubs like Redditch Borough face a gruelling 156-mile trip to face Wantage Town, yet Cradley Town, 12 miles away, ply their trade in the Midland League.
“It won’t be everybody’s cup of tea but if it’s most people’s shot of whisky then that’s a good thing,” said Stirrup, who succeeded Paul Lawler as NWCFL chairman last summer.
“As leagues, we have a responsibility to do what we can, the best we can. I’ve learned, even in my short time as chairman, that we can’t be selfish on this issue and we mustn’t lose sight of the bigger picture.
“My impression is that the FA really wants to get this right, and is open to ideas from those of us tasked with running leagues.”
Unfortunately, these proposed changes have come too late to save two Step 6 clubs from withdrawing from their respective divisions.
Last week, Truro City pulled their reserves from the South West Peninsula League after a “strategic partnership” with Helston Athletic failed to work out as planned.
Labelled “groundbreaking”, the joint venture saw the National League Tinners’ second team play their games at Kellaway Park, home of Western League Helston, and offer a pathway to play for the Blues at Step 5.
It vowed to develop young footballers and help protect Truro’s pitch ahead of Step 1, but on Tuesday Truro informed the SWPL they were pulling out with immediate effect.
And at the same time, Allexton & New Parks pulled out of the Midland League Division One following a 15-0 hammering at Leicester St Andrews.
In their 30th season, the Leicester-based were bottom of the table with just six points and one win from 30 games, having conceded 128 goals and scoring just 24.
As Leicestershire Senior League champions, they had moved up to the Midland League at Step 6 in 2024.
Both will be sorely missed at the level with their demises presenting a timely reminder to FA and league chiefs that a reshuffle at Steps 5 and 6 is long overdue.

It's been a successful journey for Nat Connolly
The story of Nat Connolly’s rise through the levels to go on to make 100 appearances for Leverstock Green is inspiring.
The all-action midfield general had racked up over a century of appearances for Totternhoe at Step 7 by the age of 21 to earn his chance with Green in the summer of 2023.
His determined displays in the engine room of the side helped the club secure promotion into the Southern League where Connolly has thrived over the past 14 months.
“I remember joining the club and worrying that the jump in level would be too much for me,” he admitted to us. “I’d previously
played all of my football at Step 7, so I didn’t know if I would be able to get to grips with Step 5.
“I joined the club not knowing anyone and feeling that I had a lot to prove, but I was made to feel welcome by everyone straight away and that really helped me to hit the ground running.
“With the help and support of those around me, I knuckled down, worked hard and that first season was really memorable as we secured promotion into the Southern League.
“Then the question is can I do it at Step 4? Last season we managed to achieve our objective of staying at this level and I was pleased with the way in which I adapted to the added demands of this level.
“To have reached 100 appearances in just under two and-a-half seasons means a lot. I am proud to have established myself in the team and I’m really enjoying my football amongst some great people.”
Saturday’s 100th game saw Connolly put in an energetic display in a 1-1 draw at Northwood.
“I felt that I played well,” he added. “I try and base my game on energy and I made sure that I kept the levels high. I tried to get forward a bit more and almost nicked a goal at one point.
“We weren’t happy with our first half performance, but we managed to get a grip of things after the break and deservedly equalised. Sadly, it was too little too late in terms of being able to find a winner and we had to be content with a point in the end.
“We know that we need to start turning some of our draws into wins in order to start climbing the table.
“There have already been a few surprise results this season throughout the division; it’s clear that everyone is capable of beating each other and it’s going to be very competitive once more.
“First and foremost our main aim is to survive, but I believe that we can achieve more and there is no reason why we can't improve upon last season’s finishing position. We’ve got a season’s experience under our belt now and we know that we have to pick up as many points as we can early on to give us a base to build on for the second half of the season.
“We seem to perform well against the better teams, but it’s the games against those teams around us where we need to start picking up more points.
“In terms of personal targets, I just want to keep enjoying my football and continue to play regularly.”
A home game against high-flying Ware is next up for Connolly and his team-mates at the weekend.
