Alan Lee Reporting SSML Premier Division Leverstock Green 2 – Leighton Town 3 Tuesday 14th September 2021 Leverstock Green ended up on the losing side of a five-goal thriller on Tuesday night as Leighton Town came back from a 2-0 half time deficit to win 3-2. The Green side had an excellent first half and were well worth their lead, but a Leighton side containing a number of ex-Leverstock players was dominant playing down the slope in the second half. There was little in the way of chances early on, with the first effort on target coming on 24 minutes from Dan Pett, making his debut in the Leverstock side tonight, with a shot from long range that was turned round the post by visiting keeper Connor Coulson. Five minutes later came the goal, which put Leverstock into the lead. Ethan Mooney made a run down the left and delivered a cross, which was not cleared, by the Leighton defence, and Ollie Lawford pounced to lash home the loose ball. Leighton had a chance on 34 minutes when Dave Parkinson’s pass allowed Danny Webb to take the ball round Green keeper Alfie Bonfield, but Webb’s shot from a narrow angle went across goal and wide. On 40 minutes Leighton went close again when Alfie Osborne got on the end of a corner with a header which was saved by Bonfield. Within a minute the ball was at the other end, and hesitancy in the Leighton defence allowed Rawn Seale to chip the ball over Coulson then run round and sidefoot the ball home for a 2-0 Leverstock lead. Leighton made a change at half time with Ross Adams replacing Parkinson, and they looked more of a threat from the outset. They pulled a goal back in the 52nd minute through Tom Silford, who found himself through to slot home past Bonfield. The scores were almost level in the 65th minute when Ashton Campbell hit a shot that went inches wide, but it was only a temporary respite, as a minute later Paul Marks was beaten on the left, the resulting cross was not cleared, and the ball ran through for Adams to fire home the equaliser against his former club. Bonfield made a number of good saves during the second half, the best of which came on 73 minutes when he tipped a shot from Webb over the bar. However, the Leighton pressure continued to build, and the inevitable winner arrived on 82 minutes. Silford went past Brima Johnson on the left and crossed for Campbell to head home. Leverstock had not been able to create any chances during the second half, and were unable to stage a late comeback of their own. It was still a good display against a team that are one of the title favourites, and Fergus Moore’s side must now seek to rediscover their winning ways with a run a six straight away games coming up. Alan Lee Reporting SSML Premier Division London Colney 0 - Leverstock Green 0 Saturday 18th September 2021 After a run of three defeats in league and cup, Leverstock Green steadied the ship with a point from a goalless draw at London Colney. It had required penalties to separate the two sides when they met in the FA Vase a week ago, and again the sides were closely matched in a game of few chances. Goalkeeper Alfie Bonfield was Leverstock’s hero with a first half penalty save. Will Bisney came in for his first game of the season, replacing the injured Rio Beach. After a quiet opening to the game there were a couple of scares for Leverstock when Finbar King hit a shot just over the bar on 13 minutes, and a Colney free kick was headed across the face of the Green goal two minutes later. Leverstock then had a couple of chances of their own. On 21 minutes a flick-on from Ollie Lawford gave Rawn Seale a run at goal, but his shot was comfortably gathered. Two minutes later giant home keeper Thierry-Allan Belleau came off his line to punch away a cross from Adrian Pitfield. The ball only went as far as Ryan Carruthers, who tried to lob into the empty net but it dropped just over the bar. In the 25th minute London Colney had a golden opportunity to open the scoring when Isiah NoelWilliams brought down a Colney forward just inside the box and the referee pointed straight to the penalty spot. However, Alfie Bonfield dived to his right to turn away Jordan Gill’s spot kick and keep the score at 0-0. Leverstock had another good chance in the 39th minute when a pass from Ethan Mooney put Lawford through. As Belleau came racing out of his area Lawford took the ball past him, but had been forced wide and his pullback into the box did not find a Green forward. The second half saw generally more pressure from the Leverstock side, and a succession of corners, but little in the way of clear-cut chances created by either side. The best chance for Leverstock came in the 73rd minute when a precise pass from Lawford put Seale through on goal, but he was denied at the death by a great saving tackle from Andrew Simmons. On 82 minutes Belleau couldn’t hold onto a shot from Seale, but no one was following in quickly enough to get to the loose ball before the keeper gathered at the second attempt. Two minutes from time a free kick from Pitfield found Paplamin Jawara at the far post but he couldn’t direct his header on target. In the end it was a game that neither side really deserved to lose, or win, and Leverstock were prevented from scoring for the first time in a league match this season. Leverstock Green 0 Team: 1. Alan Lee Reporting SSML Premier Division Crawley Green 0 - Leverstock Green 3 Saturday 25th September 2021 Leverstock Green got back to winning ways as they came away from Crawley Green with an impressive result. Fergus Moore had a depleted squad to pick from today, but the players that came in gave a good performance. The turning point of the game was the award of a controversial penalty in the second half. The Leverstock side got off to a great start as they opened the scoring within two minutes. Lewis Collins made a typically powerful run towards the Crawley box before laying off to Elgeniy Daalberg, who slotted a shot into the bottom corner of the net. The home side should have been level almost immediately. Jake Tabor beat the Leverstock defence on the right and squared into the box for Taylor Rhiney, who shot wide from right in front of goal. Crawley continued to put pressure on with a series of corners, one of which was tipped onto the bar by Alfie Bonfield. Daalberg had a chance for his second on 12 minutes, but shot wide after being set up by a run from Isiah Noel-Williams. Crawley had another good chance four minutes later, but Tabor shot across goal and wide. They had an even better chance in the final minute of the half when Adam Hughes was clean through, but again the shot was off target, leaving Leverstock still holding onto their slender lead going into half time. There were chances at both ends in the opening five minutes of the second half. A header from Adrian Pitfield was awkwardly saved by the home keeper with his feet, while Bonfield turned a deflected shot round the post. On 55 minutes Crawley put together a passing move going from one end of the field to the other, but Rhiney shot over the bar. The game’s controversial moment came on the hour. Collins went on another purposeful run into the box, and when attempting a quick turn past defender Isiah Brown-Smith, Collins went down. The referee waved away Collins’ appeal for a penalty, but the linesman flagged for the spot kick. The referee went with the linesman’s call, to the consternation of the home side who insisted there was no contact. When the dust settled, Paplamin Jawara stroked the penalty home to put Leverstock into a 2-0 lead. Leverstock were well on top now and looked likely to further increase their lead. On 67 minutes Daalberg went on a solo run into the box but his shot was turned round the post. Four minutes later Noel-Williams went on a run before setting up Mikkel James, whose shot was parried by the keeper, with Noel-Williams just unable to put away the rebound. Finally on 74 minutes Collins exchanged passes with James before going on another barrelling run into the box, neatly dinking the ball over the keeper for the third goal. That was enough for Leverstock to claim their first ever SSML Premier Division win over Crawley Green, and there was even time for the manager to make a cameo appearance from the bench for the final minute of the game. Alan Lee Reporting SSML Premier Division Arlesey 2 - Leverstock Green 3 Saturday 2nd October 2021 Leverstock Green claimed another impressive three points on the road, this time against Arlesey Town, who had beaten league leaders Leighton Town only the week before. In relentlessly wet and windy conditions, Arlesey and Leverstock served up an entertaining game with lots of good football being played, including a contender for goal of the season. Fergus Moore’s side had two young full backs starting, with Harry Bonner having been transferred from Bovingdon during the week, and Will Bisney being drafted in again. Gone from the squad is Isiah Noel-Williams, who was snapped up by Southern League side Chalfont St Peter. Leverstock made a strong start to the game, with Lewis Collins making a run into the box in the opening minute, but his cross was cleared from in front on goal. In the 7th minute Dan Pett somehow kept hold of the ball whilst beating two defenders on a run through the middle, but having got clean through, his touch was too heavy and ran through to the keeper. In the 19th minute a great pass from Mikkel James put Collins through on goal, but keeper Ryan Hilliard came off his line to dive at Collins’ feet and claim the ball. The Green side had nothing to show for their good start, and the home side then had a good spell. On 22 minutes Alfie Bonfield did well to turn away a shot from Lincoln Gilmartin, and a minute later a deflected free kick struck the crossbar. In the 24th minute Arlesey hit the woodwork again as Bruno Brito’s shot hit the post, but the rebound came straight back to Brito and at the second attempt he buried the ball past Bonfield to put Arlesey into a 1-0 lead. It could have been two a couple of minutes later but Gilmartin shot straight at Bonfield from close range. Instead the scores were levelled in spectacular fashion in the 27th minute. Collins cut in from a run down the right wing, beating three defenders in a run across the edge of the box before hitting a shot past Hilliard from the edge of the D for a wonderful goal that turned out to be not even the best of this game. Having pulled back level, Leverstock then pushed ahead. On 31 minutes Elgeniy Daalberg was set on a run down the left wing, and sent over a great cross which was met by the onrushing Kian Wilkes, who swept the ball home from six yards out for a 2-1 Green lead. Better was to come from Wilkes soon after. In the 40th minute a clearance from an Arlesey defender was picked up by Wilkes about 30 yards out, and without hesitation Wilkes looked up and hit an absolute screamer of a shot that flew into the top corner of the net off the underside of the bar giving Hilliard no chance whatsoever. Wilkes’ wonder strike stunned the whole ground and sent Leverstock into the break with a deserved 3-1 lead. The second half opened in even heavier rain than the first, and for the first 25 minutes of the half there was little goalmouth action as Leverstock looked to be holding onto their lead comfortably. A pass from Dan Pett sent Collins off on another run in the 70th minute, but this time his shot was saved by Hilliard. Three minutes later Paplamin Jawara’s pass put substitute Rawn Seale through, but his shot was deflected wide of the post. With 12 minutes remaining the game was put back into the melting pot as Arlesey pulled a goal back out of nothing. Efeptheros Metso got away down the left, and sent over a cross which was met by a close-range header from Archie Sayer that found the net. There was a big let off for Leverstock in the 85th minute when Jalen Miller was clean through and sent a lob over Bonfield, but it landed just over the bar. The end of the game was more nervy than it should have been given how well Leverstock played, but they held out for the three points, their second away win in a row, which moves them back up to third in the SSML Premier Division table. Alan Lee Reporting SSML Premier Division Flackwell Heath 1 - Leverstock Green 0 Tuesday 13th October 2021 Leverstock Green were unable to extend their winning run on Tuesday night when they made their first ever visit to Flackwell Heath. A much-improved second half performance did not translate into goals, and the Green side finished the game with ten men. The home side took the lead in the 14th minute from a corner, as Jamie Essex came in unmarked at the near post to bundle the ball home. Leverstock created little in the first half, with only long-range efforts from Mikkel James on 19 minutes and Kian Wilkes on 39 minutes threatening the Flackwell goal. An injury to Elgeniy Daalberg forced a substitution midway through the first half, with Ethan Mooney coming off the bench. In the last minute of the half Flackwell threatened a second when Sanchez Parkes went on a run through the middle of the Green defence, but the resulting shot was kept out by a great save from Alfie Bonfield. In stoppage time Kian Wilkes was booked for a tackle that gave away a free kick in a dangerous position, but nothing came of the free kick. After a flat first half display, Leverstock made a brighter start to the second half. Two minutes in the ball was crossed dangerously across the face of goal, and was cleared to the edge of the box where Rio Beach met it with a firm low shot, but keeper Mohammed Amoub got down to save it at the post. On 62 minutes a forward header from Dan Weeks found Lewis Collins, who hit a half-volley that brought a great save out of Amoub. The Flackwell keeper continued to frustrate the Green side, pulling off another fantastic save from a Dan Pett shot four minutes later. Seconds later another shot was parried away by Amoub, and Rawn Seale followed up to net the rebound, but it was ruled out by the offside flag. It was Leverstock who had most of the possession during the second half, although Flackwell still threatened occasionally on the break. Despite their territorial advantage, the Green side were unable to find a way past the Flackwell defence, and their night got worse in the last minute when a rather reckless tackle from Wilkes was punished by a second yellow card, reducing them to ten men. Alan Lee Reporting SSML Premier Division Hadley 0 - Leverstock Green 2 Saturday 16th October 2021 Leverstock Green bounced back from their midweek defeat in style as they scored two second half goals to secure an impressive win at Hadley in Saturday’s SSML Premier Division game. It was a strong performance all round from Fergus Moore’s side, and eventually they took advantage of the home side’s struggle to defend set pieces to score twice from corners. There were few chances for either side in the early stages. In the 20th minute Dan Weeks got on the end of one of several excellent corner deliveries from Paplamin Jawara, but headed over the bar. On 25 minutes Hadley had the ball in the net. Sam Edwards struck a low free kick from distance which hit the post. Billy Baird followed up to net the rebound, but his shot was touched in on the line by Jordan Edwards, who was flagged offside. Leverstock went close in the 35th minute as Rio Beach delivered a great cross from the left touchline which just eluded Rawn Seale sliding in at the far post. Five minutes later there was an even better chance. Jawara delivered a free kick to the far post, which Kian Wilkes headed back across goal. Dan Pett came in with the goal at his mercy but couldn’t keep his header under the bar. In the last minute of the half Wilkes sent over another dangerous cross to the far post which was cleared by a defender just before Lewis Collins could get to it. As the second half wore on Leverstock were looking the more likely team to score. On 54 minutes Weeks got his head to another Jawara corner, but it went wide. However, on 60 minutes it was Hadley with the chance as Solomon Ofori broke clear, but Alfie Bonfield pulled off a superb save to keep out Ofori’s shot. A minute later Leverstock went close again when Seale headed just over from a Wilkes cross, and on 64 minutes Seale ran onto a lofted pass from Beach, but keeper Luke Ward came out of his goal and just reached the ball ahead of Seale. The breakthrough came in the 71st minute as Leverstock won a series of corners. Jawara’s first two deliveries were just about headed behind by the Hadley defence, but the third was not cleared, and Seale pounced on the loose ball to rifle home a shot into the corner of the net. Hadley’s weakness at defending corners was exploited again in the 80th minute as Jawara delivered another peach of a cross and Wilkes came in unmarked to head home from close range and put Leverstock into a 2-0 lead. That proved to be enough for the win, as the Green side held out comfortably for the clean sheet. This game concluded a run of five straight away games from which Leverstock have registered ten points. They finally return to Pancake Lane to face Broadfields United next Saturday. Broadfields United FC History
1993: The Club was formed. 1994/1995 season: We ran ten teams, eight in the Southern Olympian League on Saturdays, five of those teams won their leagues with two teams finishing as runners-up. 1995/1996 season: Broadfields 1st team won the Presidents Cup at Harrow Borough. 1996/1997 season: They then went on to win Division One by six points, thus winning promotion to the Premier League. 1998/1999 season: Broadfields United Reserves came runners-up in Division One. 2001/2002 season: Broadfields ran six teams, 1st and Reserves playing in the Middlesex County Football League, Premier and Division One (Saturday’s). Two teams played in the Harrow Sunday Challenge League and one played in the Hillingdon & District Sunday Football League. This was also the season of Broadfields Social Clubs disaster. We burnt to the ground, leaving only the changing/shower facilities. This however did not stop us from playing football, as indeed we did. 2003/2004 season: Broadfields runs less teams, 1st playing in the Middlesex County Football League, Premier Division, Manager: Marvin Hall, Coach: Mike Jennings, Physiotherapy: Mick Croft. Our Vets team played in the London Commercial League, Division 6 and went through to a cup Final. We also had two Sunday teams playing in the Harrow Sunday Challenge League. Chris Webster’s team won the Harrow Sunday Challenge League Cup. 2005/2006 season: Chris Webster’s team won the Harrow Sunday Challenge League and Jack Walker Cup. 2006/2007 season: Chris Webster’s team won the Harrow Sunday Challenge League and Benevolent Shield. 2007/2008 season: Chris Webster’s team were runners up in both the Sunday Premier Cup and Champions Cup. 2008/2009 season: Chris Webster’s team won the Champions Cup and Jack Walker Challenge Cup. They were runners up in the Premier League. 2009/2010 season: Dene Gardner’s (Saturday) team were runners up in the Middlesex Intermediate Cup. Chris Webster’s team won the Middlesex County Premier Cup and Champions Cup. They were runners up in the League and the Harrow Premier Cup. 2010/2011 season: A disappointing season by Broadfields standard. The Sunday team came runners up in the Champions Cup Final, narrowly losing 2-1. 2011/12 season: Alec Smith Premier Cup Champions. Chris Webster and Ryan Duffy lead the Saturday team to their first bit of silverware in many years. 2012/13 season: Alec Smith Premier Cup Champions. Ryan Duffy and Chris Webster defended their title whilst the newly reformed reserves under the management of David Webster and Robbie Pearce who lost in the Junior Open Cup Final and came runners up in the league. A successful season for the club. 2013/14 season: David Webster and Robbie Pearce proved very successful with the reserves by winning the Middlesex Senior Reserve Division and the Junior Open Cup. A platform for a new challenge next season. 2014/15 season: A terrific end to the season saw Ryan Duffy and Chris Webster lead their side to promotion to the Spartan South Midlands League Division One. The side lost just one of their final ten games and were granted
promotion on the final day. The second side, led by David Webster and Robbie Pearce, moved their team to the Hertfordshire County League Division One and managed a mid-table finish and were unlucky to not make a final, being knocked out at the semi-final stage twice. 2015/16 season: The clubs first season in Spartan South Midlands League football saw us achieve an 11th place finish. The side also reached the semi-final of the Division One Cup. The Sunday Side completed a quadruple, winning the Harrow Sunday Challenge Premier Division, the Premier Cup, the Champions Cup and the Jack Walker Cup. 2016/17 season: The First team, under the guidance of Mark Barnham, Liam Bird & Ryan Duffy, won the Middlesex Premier Cup by defeating Hillingdon Borough 4-1 at Northwood FC’s ground. They also reached the second-round proper of the FA Vase. The Reserve side managed by Dean Foster, won promotion to the Herts Senior County League. 2017/18 season: The First team, under the guidance of Liam Bird, Mark Barnham & Ryan Duffy, successfully defended the Middlesex Premier Cup by defeating landlords, Harefield 1-0 at Harrow Borough FC. Success continued 5 days later when they triumphed in the Spartan League Challenge Trophy cup final when they beat Risborough Rangers in the final 3-1.Finally, first time in the club’s history, we booked a place in the FA Cup for the forthcoming season after finishing 4th in the league. The Reserve side managed by Dean Foster also reached the Anagrams Record Trophy Final but went down 2-0 to Catholic United from the Essex League. 2018/19 season: The end of the 2018/19 season saw the first team achieve their main aim as promotion was secured. A tally of 94 points saw us finish behind runaway leaders, Harefield United, but guaranteed us a place as one of the top 9 teams from the 19 leagues at Step 6 and thus achieving promotion to Step 5 for the very first time. It was a long season which saw us play in our first ever FA Cup game, beating Banstead Athletic 3-0 in a memorable Extra Preliminary round tie. Unfortunately, in the next round we went down 4-1 to AFC Uckfield Town but nonetheless it was a great experience for the club to appear in the oldest cup competition in the world. It wasn’t to be quite as memorable for the reserve side who struggled in the league and although they managed to stay up on the last day of the season, the tough decision to withdraw the side in the close season was made. 2019/20 season: The season started full of optimism with the club playing Step 5 football for the first time and although the season started off brightly the team found the step up in opposition quality hard to deal with at times. We managed to find our feet and began picking up some good results along the way before COVID-19 curtailed the season. The highlight of the season was unquestionably a 2-1 victory away at Conference South side, Hampton and Richmond to reach the Semi-Final of the Middlesex Senior Cup in our first season in the competition. Although we were defeated in the next round away at Bedfont Sports. 2020/21: Ahead of the new season the club secured a new ground share with Rayners Lane FC, a move back closer to the club’s traditional ‘home’ of Harrow. Sadly, it meant departing Harefield United’s Preston Park after many successful seasons.

Follow to the bottom and go over the small railway bridge and turn immediately right, this takes you into Horsenden Lane. Follow road for 250 yards and ground is on your right. From Aylesbury or Thame, when entering the Tesco roundabout, follow new road to the next roundabout with M&S on your left. Follow the road (called Bell Street) through the town towards High Wycombe. In approx. half a mile, take the right fork in the road signposted to the Station (Station Road) and continue for approx. 500 yards. Take the second turning left into Picts Lane and follow to the end. Turn right, then over the railway bridge and immediately right into Horsenden Lane. The ground can then be found on the right hand side approx. 250 yards down the lane adjacent to the cricket and tennis clubs.

Be aware of your own personal health. If you show any of the Covid-19 symptoms you must stay at home, inform NHS Test and Trace and seek medical advice. Be responsible. Read the guidance provided by The FA and by your club so that you are aware of the changes to the game and what is expected of you. This will include things like being prepared to wash your own kit, bringing your own labelled water bottle and being aware of changes to meet-up times. Practise good hygiene. Wash your hands regularly and before, during and after a game. Where possible maintain social distancing. This won’t always be possible in a competitive match environment (for example when tackling an opponent) and that is acceptable. However, before, and after a game you should maintain social distancing. Use the extra dugout chairs for social distancing Support NHS Test and Trace. You’re likely to be asked to provide your details so that in the event of a Covid-19 outbreak those potentially infected can be traced. This is to everyone’s benefit so please co-operate. Do not spit. Spitting and the rinsing out of mouths is now a recognised risk to health and must not be done. Avoid shouting or raising your voice if face to face with other players. After the game. Be aware that other users may be waiting to use the facilities. Changing rooms and showers are likely to be closed and any socialising must follow the Government’s guidance on social distancing.
