Introduction from our sponsors:'We are so pleased that we are able to sponsor today's match against Biggleswade FC. This is our first visit to Leverstock Green FC and our connection with the Club is through our daughter, Amy, who is the Club physiotherapist. Amy has spoken so highly of Leverstock Green Football Club who have supported her through the worst times of her life and ours following the sudden death of our grandson, Charlie, who also played as a youth player at Biggleswade FC. This game means so much to us as a family and reinforces our beliefs that at the grass roots of football there are so many genuine people who support their local Club for the right reasons. Today all we wish for is an entertaining game between two great football clubs and may the best side win on the day. Steve and Dora Kibler’’

We're targeting discrimination in football. Can you help?
We are taking a zero-tolerance approach to discrimination in football. We’re calling on clubs and leagues like your own to report hate, prejudice or discrimination whenever you see it or hear it. For those people who behave in a racist, sexist or homophobic way, the message is clear. Enough is Enough. When we know it has happened, we can take the actions needed to remove discriminatory behaviour. We'll be doing so through a range of punishments: • Players will be removed from play and suspended. • Teams can have points deducted. • Grounds can be closed for repeat offenders. Together we can end hate in football. Spread the word that discrimination of all forms will be punished. Share with your welfare officers, league and club officials, and everyone across your league and clubs. We want everyone across grassroots football to know... ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. TELL US, WE’LL TACKLE IT.

Visiting Club History:
Biggleswade FC – A Brief Club History Biggleswade FC was formed in May 2016 from the highly successful Biggleswade Town Under 18s, who had dominated the Thurlow Nunn Youth League from 2014–2016, winning consecutive Champions Trophies. That era also saw striker Keinan Davis earn a professional contract with Aston Villa. With no pathway beyond youth football at Biggleswade Town, a new senior club was created, securing a groundshare at Langford Road and earning a place in the Spartan South Midlands Football League Division One. Early Success (2016–2019) In their debut 2016/17 season, Biggleswade FC won the SSML Division One title with 99 points, gaining promotion to the Premier Division. The club quickly built strong community links and attracted growing crowds. The 2017/18 season brought a memorable FA Vase run to the last 32, while a reserve team were also established. In 2018/19, FC claimed a league and cup treble — winning the SSML Premier Division, Premier Division Cup, and North Beds Charity Cup — alongside another strong FA Vase quarter-final run and a reserve team league and cup double. Climbing the Pyramid (2019–2022) 2019/20 saw Biggleswade debut in the Southern League (Step 4), enduring a tough start but finishing strongly before COVID-19 halted the season. The pandemic-disrupted 2020/21 campaign included another FA Cup run before the club relocated to Bedford Town’s ground The
Eyrie. In 2021/22, FC recovered from a poor start to go 12 games unbeaten, finishing 9th in the Southern League Division One Central, with the reserves once again completing a league and cup double. Play-offs, Cup Finals & Silverware (2022–2024) The 2022/23 season delivered FC’s highest-ever league finish (2nd) and first promotion play-off, though Ware ended the dream winning 4-1 in the semi-final. They also reached their first Beds Senior Cup final, losing to Luton Town Development. In 2023/24, redemption came with a 1-0 victory over AFC Dunstable in the Beds Senior Cup final, the club’s first triumph in the competition. Earlier in this campaign, rising star Pemi Aderoju earned a move to Peterborough United after scoring 12 goals in 12 games. Making History (2024–Present) The 2024/25 campaign saw FC finish 8th but enjoy their best-ever FA Cup run, reaching the Fourth Qualifying Round. Wins over Stansted, London Lions, Basildon United, AFC Dunstable, and Canvey Island set up a historic tie against National League York City. In front of a record crowd of 1,180, FC battled bravely before falling 3-1. From their youth team origins to league titles, cup victories, and record crowds, Biggleswade FC has quickly built a proud reputation as a progressive, ambitious club with deep community roots and an exciting future.
Visiting Club Pen Pics:
Ibrahim Rashid (Goalkeeper) One of our close season arrivals. Ibi is a young goalkeeper that we have high hopes for. A number of impressive pre-season performances have seen him make the step up from Step 6 where he turned out for both Royston Town Reserves and Stotfold Reserves last term. Liam Coyne (Goalkeeper) Signed on a 28-day Youth Loan from Luton Town. Liam is the son of former Hatters’ defender Chris Coyne, who spent seven years at Kenilworth Road in the 2000s. Liam is a second year scholar at Luton and has certainly impressed in his short spell with us so far. Adam Hunt (Defender) Ex-MK Dons academy player, “Hunty” is an exciting attacking right back. Captained FC to the SSML Division One title in the club's debut 2016/17 season. His performances got him a move to Welwyn Garden City for 2018/19 and despite some good performances for The Citizens, Adam decided to "come home" soon after. A real class act who holds the current club record for most appearances with over 300 to date. Kymani Skyers (Defender) The 20-year-old signed for FC initially on work experience from Stevenage FC. The young defender settled straight into life at the club with some assured performances and was outstanding in the Beds Senior Cup Final at Kenilworth Road in April 2024. Has also shown his versatility with some appearances in the FC midfield. Has also played at Step 3 for St Ives Town. Adam Wedd (Defender) “Weddy” signed for the club in August 2022 following his release from Luton Town. A classy defender with an ability to switch the play and play out from the back. Can play at centre half or left back. He has had his fair share of injuries, but he is now rapidly approaching the 100 appearance milestone for FC. Billy Baird (Defender)
Signed from Stotfold last season. Billy has been unlucky with injuries, but he has been solid and dependable in the games in which he has featured. The former Hadley man is another player who is versatile and has helped reinforce our defensive options. Luke Oswick (Defender) Luke arrived from Royston Town in July 2019 and featured as a left back initially. However, having picked up some injuries at centre half, he was moved into the heart of the FC defence. Had a short spell at Stotfold before resigning. Over 150 appearances for the club to date, scoring two goals. Leo Jenkins (Defender) A late pre-season arrival. Leo had been training with Hitchin Town following his release from Northampton Town. A couple of impressive pre-season performances, saw FC snap up the promising young centre half. Marius-Cosmin Patru (Defender) Back for his second spell with the club following a horrendous injury for FC against Barton Rovers that threatened to end his playing career. To his credit, Marius has worked hard to get himself back to fitness and has impressed in pre-season. An experienced no-nonsense defender who previously played for FC Romania. Sammy Fisher-Diaz (Defender) Sammy is back for his second spell with the club having previously played for our reserve side. Following spells at Step 5 playing for the likes of Potton United and Godmanchester Rovers, Sammy has impressed in pre-season as he looks to make the step up. Will provide competition for places at left back. Lawrie Marsh (Defender/Midfield) Became FC’s club captain following the retirement of Tom Coles. A December 2021 re-signing from Hitchin Town. Lawrie has a terrific engine and has the versatility to play in a number of positions. A real leader and a driver of high standards within the group. Second to only Adam Hunt in the all-time appearances list with over 250 appearances to date scoring 37 goals. Michael Simpson (Defender/Midfield) “Simo” arrived from Stotfold in July 2018 having been on FC’s wanted list for a while. Another player who offers great versatility. He has suffered with his fair share of injuries over the past few seasons, but he is a solid and dependable player who rarely has a bad game when fit. Seventh on the all-time FC appearances list with over 200 appearances to date, scoring five goals.
Rio Martucci (Midfield) Like Adam Wedd, Rio signed for the club following his release from Luton Town. The 20-year-old is a classy ball player with a terrific engine. Had to bide his time initially, but since breaking into the starting XI he has made the number 8 shirt his own. Charlie Hayford (Midfield) The club were delighted to complete the signing of the ex-Tottenham and Sheffield Wednesday academy player in August 2022 after impressing against us for both Baldock Town and Kempston Rovers. A fine technician with a great passing range. Over 90 appearances for FC to date and had his best injury-free run in the team last term. Ethan Kessel (Midfield) Signed for the club last summer. Ethan was most recently with Woodford Town in the Essex Senior League, but has also had spells with London Lions, Berkhamsted and Welwyn Garden City. A busy midfielder with an eye for goal. Scored a special strike in the pre-season meeting with Cambridge United’s development team. Conor Inskip (Midfield) Back for his second spell at the club after three seasons away. Conor finished the season with us having played over 80 times for cross-town rivals Biggleswade United. In an area of the field where FC are stacked with options, Conor has impressed in pre-season and forced his way into the starting XI for the FA Cup meetings with Welwyn where he performed outstandingly. Donovan Prato (Midfield/Forward) Another of our pre-season arrivals. Donny is studying locally after turning out for Curzon Ashton u23 near Manchester last term. An exciting young player, who loves to run with the ball at his feet and go past players. Some eye-catching performances in pre-season, Donny will certainly add depth to our attacking options. Daniel Bond (Forward) “Bondy” arrived from neighbours Langford in November 2019 having scored 12 goals in 16 appearances in a short stint at Forde Park. A regular goalscorer at Stotfold in the SSML before goalscoring spells at Step 4 with Hertford Town and Welwyn Garden City. Enjoyed his best goalscoring return for the club last term, finishing as FC’s leading marksman with 17 goals.
Alex Marsh (Forward) The club were thrilled to re-sign their all-time leading goalscorer from Hitchin Town in September 2021. “Marshy” has been influential since his return and FC missed his goals last term as he spent the whole campaign on the sidelines out injured. On his own at the top of the all-time list with 129 goals to date. George Bailey (Forward) Prolific in his first season and a half for Biggleswade FC. Form that earned him a crack at Step 3 football with both Biggleswade Town and St Ives Town. Dave Northfield tried on numerous occasions to bring him back to the club, but he finally got his man in Summer 2020. 41 goals in over 150 appearances to date. Sonny Coughlin-Brown (Forward) Another exciting young attacking player. Sonny previously caught the eye playing against us for Hertford Town before making the switch from Hertingfordbury Park last season. Two goals in fourteen appearances last term, Sonny will be looking to add to that with a regular starting berth in his first full season with us. Rafal Wielblad (Forward) A young forward signed from Kempston Rovers after scoring against FC in the Beds Senior Cup last season. An exciting talent who has already popped up with a couple of goals despite suffering a dislocated shoulder not long after his arrival. A terrific work ethic and certainly one to watch for the future. Temi Akinbusoye (Forward) Local lad Temi is a pacey forward signed from Kings Langley early last season. He found starts difficult to come by early on, but his work ethic and tenacity saw him force his way into the team only finishing second to Daniel Bond in the goalscoring charts last term with nine goals. Previously with Stotfold, Barton Rovers and Hitchin Town. Alfie Turner (Forward) Alfie is another of our pre-season arrivals. Turned out 28 times for Potton United last term and the 18-year-old is now looking to make the step up to Step 4.

Leverstock Green 2 vs 2 Rayners Lane Match Report Last season it took Leverstock Green from December until March to get their third win in the Southern League, and the third win is proving equally elusive this season for Fergus Moore’s side, with ten games having passed since their last win in August. Leverstock were somewhat fortunate to come away with a point from tonight’s game against bottom side Rayners Lane, with Joe McCarthy popping up in stoppage time to net an equaliser. Leverstock made a promising start to this game. In the 7th minute RaduMihai Stefanoaica, in the starting lineup tonight, delivered a cross which Jeffrey Sekyere headed over. Two minutes later a pass from Ryan Carruthers gave Stefanoaica the chance to beat a defender but his eventual shot went wide. In the 27th minute a pass from Marcus Warren put Sekyere through but his shot was across goal and wide. Five minutes later a long throw from Dan Casey bounced up for Sekyere, but his header from close range was saved by the keeper. The chances kept on coming. On 35 minutes a cross from Stefanoaica was missed by the keeper but just eluded McCarthy coming in at the far post. Four minutes later McCarthy was in from a Carruthers pass, but couldn’t get a shot in. The ball ran for Sekyere, whose shot was saved, and then back to McCarthy, who was upended in the box by a challenge from Bobby Bircham. The referee awarded the penalty, and Sekyere sent the keeper the wrong way from the spot to net his fifth goal in successive games. That should have been the springboard for Leverstock to go on and take control of the game, but in the last minute of the half they were undone by a pass which put former Leverstock striker Guiseppe Delgaudio through on goal. Harry Way came out his goal to make a challenge but Delgaudio went past him to slot into the empty net for a 1-1 half time scoreline.
Having played well in the first half, Leverstock’s second half display was very disappointing. Rayners Lane were looking the better side now, and there was a sense of inevitability about their 74th minute goal which put them in front. Bradley Walsh netted from close range after a free kick was not cleared for a 2-1 scoreline. Leverstock seemed unable to create anything around the Rayners Lane box, and had scarcely had a shot in the second half as the game went into stoppage time. But in the third of the four minutes indicated, a flick on found McCarthy in the box, and he beat a defender before slotting under the keeper for a very welcome Leverstock equaliser to claim what might be another crucial point. It was an eighth draw in 14 league games for Leverstock this season. Leverstock Green (1) 2 (Sekyere 39 pen, McCarthy 90+3) 1. Harry Way, 2. Dan Casey, 3. Rio Beach, 4. Josh Dooley, 20. Hitchin Town 2 vs 1 Leverstock Green Match Report It was another heartbreaker for Leverstock Green as they were beaten by the last kick of a game that they did not deserve to lose. They competed with Hitchin Town all the way and had chances to win the game themselves, but a scrambled goal from a corner sealed their fate. Leverstock came under heavy pressure from the home side in the opening ten minutes, with two great saves from Harry Way and the post keeping them from going behind early. Hitchin won a number of corners during this early period of the game, but Leverstock defended well and then took the lead from their first corner of the game in the 17th minute. Rio Beach curled the ball to the far post, when Joe McCarthy met it with a header that just squeezed inside the post past former Leverstock keeper Alfie Bonfield. It should have been 2-0 in the 27th minute. Jeffrey Sekyere won the ball off a defender and raced clear before crossing to the far post where Jack Allen was coming in, but he couldn’t keep his header from very close range under the bar. Hitchin had a chance to equalise in the 32nd minute when there was a coming together in the box and the referee awarded a penalty, but Way produced another great save to turn away Stephen Gleeson’s spot kick. However, in the 41st minute the equaliser arrived when a cross was headed back across goal and Lewis Franklin netted from close range to make it 1-1. Jack Allen suffered an injury at the end of the first half which meant he had to be replaced by Iker Noguera Leon for the second half, and Leon hit a shot which brought a save out of Bonfield in the 52nd minute. Way pulled off another great save in the 68th minute to turn a shot round the post. Leverstock had another chance in the 77th minute as Sekyere pressured a defender to win the ball and ran on to hit a shot which was parried by Bonfield. Leon gathered the ball from the rebound and hit a shot which
was cleared off the line by a defender. Two minutes later Sekyere was running clear again from the halfway line until he was brought down from behind by Charlie Briggs, for which the defender received a straight red card to reduce his side to ten men. Sekyere was running at goal again two minutes into stoppage time, but was thwarted by a tackle, and Leon was unable to make anything from the loose ball. The game looked to be heading for a draw, and five minutes of stoppage time had been indicated by the referee, but it was the sixth minute of stoppage time when Hitchin won a corner. The ball was not cleared, and in the ensuing scramble Josh Jackman put the ball in the net. The referee blew for time instantly after the restart, and it was another cruel finish for Leverstock in a season that has been full of them. Hitchin Town (1) 2 (Franklin 41, Jackman 90+6) 1. Alfie Bonfield, 2. Josh Jackman, 3. Callum Kane, 4. Blue Joy (15. Toby Syme 80 mins), 5. Charlie Briggs, 6. Ciaren Jones, 7. Josh ColdicottStevens, 8. Stephen Gleeson, 9. Kye Tearle (17. By Matthew Badock Editor, The Non-League Paper IN A funny way, Kevin Horlock’s quote after Maldon & Tiptree’s defeat to Port Vale encapsulated what the FA Cup is all about. “We had them on the ropes for five minutes – we probably scored 85 minutes too soon,” the Jammers boss said of Anisius Lewis’ very early strike that put the Step 4 side ahead, “but what a magical moment.” Less than 20 minutes later and Horlock’s side were 4-1 down to the League One Valiants, the lowest-ranked team in the first round’s FA Cup adventure was coming to an end. But it’s those moments that make the FA Cup. For a few minutes, nine to be more precise, their travelling fans would have been wondering ‘what if’. We all know about the financial rewards that comes with the FA Cup – the TV cash to boost the coffers, the benefit of prize money, extra sponsorship and ticket sales. But, also, it gives unforgettable moments. Think of Havant & Waterlooville all those years ago when they led the mighty Liverpool not once but twice at Anfield. Think of Kidderminster Harriers taking West Ham to the final moments before Declan Rice bailed the Premier League side out.
Think of Tamworth last season as they took Tottenham into extra-time but almost won it in the dying stages of the 90 minutes. At the weekend Chelmsford City caused the first upset of round one when they beat Braintree Town at Saturday lunchtime – a feat repeated by fellow Step 2 sides Weston-super-Mare, who knocked out Aldershot Town, and Slough Town as they piled the woe on Altrincham. There were some all Non-League ties that brought Sutton United, Wealdstone and Buxton success and a place in the second round. We also saw Gateshead upset League One AFC Wimbledon, Brackley Town beat Notts County on penalties and Boreham Wood take, what feels like, their annual EFL scalp in Crawley Town. Carlisle United looked to be on their way out at Reading before Regan Linney scored two stoppage-time goals to force extra-time – where he then scored the winner to complete his hat-trick. “It was a good three points,” he accidentally said live on Match of the Day the next day. “I’ve crumbled here!” Thankfully the striker doesn’t crumble when he’s in the box! “Where’s the matchball?” presenter Jason Mohammad asked. “It’s still in my car,” Linney responded with a smile. That’s the magic of the FA Cup!

A few words about KitAid KitAid is a charity set up by, Derrick Williams MBE, who visited Tanzania on a WaterAid supporters’ trip in 1998. Derrick, being a mad footie fan, was amazed at the reception he received from children and adults in remote villages just because he was wearing one of his favourite football shirts (he follows Watford, Liverpool and Chesham Utd). After two weeks in Tanzania, a flame was lit in Derrick’s heart, and he was on a mission to provide kit and equipment to the bare-footed children playing with footballs made of tied string and plastic bags. Twenty-one years on, KitAid has lots of volunteers and to date we’ve sent out 900,000+ kits to children and adults in 55 different countries across the world. How to donate If you’d like to support the KitAid cause, the easiest way to donate your unwanted football kit, in order for us to find it a new home. Alternatively, if you don’t have any unwanted kit, but would still like to support us, we’re very grateful for any donations which will help to fund our annual costs as well as support other partnership charities where possible. We thank you for all your support. In working in some of the most under-privileged countries around the world, The Football Association is no stranger to seeing the impact the donation of something as simple as a shirt or a pair of shorts can make. KitAid has brought an enormous amount of pleasure and enjoyment to young and old alike through the gift of football kit and has shared the spirit of British clubs and the England team with communities in all corners of the globe. We are proud to be associated with KitAid and wish them all the best in their endeavours for the years to come. Jane Bateman, Head of International Relations, The Football Association

Date: Tue 21 Oct 2025 By Andy Poole LEVERSTOCK GREEN | LEVELS RISING It's been a successful journey for Nat Connolly
The story of Nat Connolly’s rise through the levels to go on to make 100 appearances for Leverstock Green is inspiring. The all-action midfield general had racked up over a century of appearances for Totternhoe at Step 7 by the age of 21 to earn his chance with Green in the summer of 2023. His determined displays in the engine room of the side helped the club secure promotion into the Southern League where Connolly has thrived over the past 14 months. “I remember joining the club and worrying that the jump in level would be too much for me,” he admitted to us. “I’d previously
played all of my football at Step 7, so I didn’t know if I would be able to get to grips with Step 5. “I joined the club not knowing anyone and feeling that I had a lot to prove, but I was made to feel welcome by everyone straight away and that really helped me to hit the ground running. “With the help and support of those around me, I knuckled down, worked hard and that first season was really memorable as we secured promotion into the Southern League. “Then the question is can I do it at Step 4? Last season we managed to achieve our objective of staying at this level and I was pleased with the way in which I adapted to the added demands of this level. “To have reached 100 appearances in just under two and-a-half seasons means a lot. I am proud to have established myself in the team and I’m really enjoying my football amongst some great people.” Saturday’s 100th game saw Connolly put in an energetic display in a 1-1 draw at Northwood. “I felt that I played well,” he added. “I try and base my game on energy and I made sure that I kept the levels high. I tried to get forward a bit more and almost nicked a goal at one point. “We weren’t happy with our first half performance, but we managed to get a grip of things after the break and deservedly equalised. Sadly, it was too little too late in terms of being able to find a winner and we had to be content with a point in the end. “We know that we need to start turning some of our draws into wins in order to start climbing the table.
“There have already been a few surprise results this season throughout the division; it’s clear that everyone is capable of beating each other and it’s going to be very competitive once more. “First and foremost our main aim is to survive, but I believe that we can achieve more and there is no reason why we can't improve upon last season’s finishing position. We’ve got a season’s experience under our belt now and we know that we have to pick up as many points as we can early on to give us a base to build on for the second half of the season. “We seem to perform well against the better teams, but it’s the games against those teams around us where we need to start picking up more points. “In terms of personal targets, I just want to keep enjoying my football and continue to play regularly.” A home game against high-flying Ware is next up for Connolly and his team-mates at the weekend.
