The Fergus Moore era began in earnest as Leverstock Green played their first official friendly under their new management team. It turned out to be an excellent workout for OPPONENTS BALL SPONSOR the 20-man squad, as they led for most of the game against Southern League opposition, but was denied a win by a late AFC Dunstable equaliser. The squad was a mixture of new arrivals and players familiar from last season, and it was one of the latter who put Leverstock into the lead in just the fifth minute of the game. Lewis Collins went on a mazy solo run into the box before slotting confidently past the visiting keeper for a very impressive goal to open the season with. Kian Wilkes went close to doubling the lead in the 15th minute when he got on the end of Paplamin Jawara’s corner, but his header was just over the bar. Newcomers Rawan Sawle and Ethan Mooney both had efforts at goal in the remainder of a half that was somewhat disjointed as a result of four long stoppages for treatments to injuries, two from each side. The second half saw many changes made, with both assistant manager Scott McGleish and coach Paul Marks making appearances. There were no further goals for the Leverstock side, but they looked solid at the back and dealt with the threat of prolific striker BJ Campbell very well. Five minutes from time the visitors finally forced home an equaliser, with Joe Hankins’ ball across goal going in off a Leverstock defender. A good performance and result, and with six further friendlies to be played, the squad should be in good shape for the opening SSML Premier Division fixture against Baldock Town on Tuesday 3rd August. Baldock Town FC HISTORY 2013 Onwards 2013/2014 Season Town kicked off their first ever Spartan South Midlands League campaign with a 3-2 win at Langford on 10th August 2013. Lee Harman scored twice with Josh Furness netting the winner. Lee Harman went on to score a club record 46 goals as Town finished 7th in Division One. Town were 7-0 victors against Wodson Park and Buckingham Athletic respectively in league games at Top Field with Harman netting four and three in those games. The Reds also progressed through two rounds of the FA Vase beating SSML Premier Division London Tigers in the 1st Qualifying Round and United Counties League Bugbrooke St Michaels in the next. Their run came to an end against Berkhamsted, going down 4-1 at Top Field. 2014/2015 Season The 2014/15 season would prove another season of consolidation for the Reds. After a promising start to the campaign, a poor second half of the season, which included a sequence of 10 matches without a win, saw Town eventually finish 10th in Division One. The Club took part in the FA Cup for the first time since its reformation and following a 3-0 win in the Extra Preliminary Round over Hatfield Town, the Reds were eliminated by Ryman League Harlow Town in front of a club record home crowd of 213. They also reached the First Round Proper of the FA Vase for a second successive season thanks to victories over Essex Senior League Sporting Bengal United (4-1) and Eastern Counties League Long Melford (4-3). Once again, they came up short against SSML Premier Division opposition - this time going down 2-1 at London Colney - despite dominating long periods. Tom Oram ended the campaign as top scorer with 23 goals. At the end of the season manager Scott Grant decided to step down after five successful seasons in charge. The Club moved quickly to appoint Luke Gregson as the new player-manager in May 2015 with Dean Gilbert as his assistant. 2015/2016 Season The Reds achieved their highest league finish since their reformation with a 3rd place in Spartan South Midlands League Division One. They were also now playing at Stotfold FC's Roker Park ground after three seasons at Top Field. Luke Gregson had a difficult start to his tenure losing four of his opening ten league games in charge including a 5-1 home defeat by Hillingdon Borough on the opening day. However, 20 wins and 4 draws from the remaining 28 league games saw his men run Crawley Green close for the second promotion spot.
Crawley Green had been 17 points ahead of Town at one stage, but having taken four points off them from their two league meetings - including a 5-1 win at home - Town ran out of steam at the death following a gruelling run-in. Anthony James arrived from Bishops Stortford Swifts in September 2015 and finished the season as top scorer with 27 goals in 29 games, whilst keeper Jack Farmer, back for his third spell at the club, played every minute of all 48 competitive fixtures. After missing out on a place in the FA Cup, Town were knocked out of the FA Vase at the 2nd Qualifying Round stage. After being 1-0 up on Essex Senior League FC Romania with two minutes to go, their opponents scored twice before the final whistle to sneak through. They would go on to reach the Last 32 of the FA Vase that year. In the competition's opening round, Town beat St Margaretsbury 3-2 on a Friday night at Roker Park. Head to Head Our paths crossed somewhat as the old Baldock Town folded in 2001 and played the SSML Premier before reached it in 2003. Not played them previously in the FA Cup of FA Vase. Our league head to head is fairly brief. Beat them 3-1 away in October 2020. Beat them 3-0 away in November 2019. Lost to them 4-1 at home in February 2020. Lost to them 4-0 away in February 2019. Lost to them 2-0 at home in March 2019.

Leverstock Green continued their pre-season build-up with an excellent 2-1 win over neighbours Hemel Hempstead Town. With Hemel also having a friendly at Berkhamsted later in the afternoon, the side that visited Pancake Lane was largely comprised of trialists, but it was still a strong side and an impressive result for Fergus Moore’s side to come out on top on a very warm afternoon. After a couple of early efforts at goal, the Green side took the lead in the 13th minute. Hemel failed to clear as the ball was bouncing around the six-yard box, and Lewis Collins pounced to shoot home from close range for his second goal of pre-season. Three minutes later Leverstock were threatening again, and Adam Wallace was brought down as he ran into the box. The referee pointed to the penalty spot, and Kian Wilkes placed his kick right into the corner of the net to put Leverstock 2-0 up. Hemel pulled a goal back in the 34th minute as Joe Leslie hit an angled shot past Green keeper Alfie Bonfield. Leverstock almost added a third in first half stoppage time with a neat passing move that ended with Collins shooting into the side netting. There were fewer chances in the second half as the heat began to take its toll on the players, but the Leverstock defence held out well throughout the half to maintain their lead and claim their first win of pre-season. Club News First Team Manager Leverstock Green Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Fergus Moore as our new manager. He brings with him his Assistant Manager Scott McGleish and Coach Paul Marks in an exciting new era for The Trees. Fergus has made over 1,200 appearances in a fantastic career playing for clubs including Brentford, Hemel Hempstead, Wealdstone, Uxbridge, Yeading and concluding his career at Edgware Town. He then managed Edgware Town from 2017-2020. We received a very credible 22 applications for the role but the Officers of LGFC were extremely impressed during the interview stage with his experience, coaching staff, attitude and ambition to take our club to the next level in the next few years. Please join us in welcoming Fergus and his team to LGFC as we enter what we feel is a great time for the club from next season with Ross Bargent managing our Under 18s in the Southern Counties Floodlit Youth League and Lee Robinson managing our Under 15s in the Eastern Junior Alliance. LORDS renew club Sponsorship Leverstock Green is delighted to announce LORDS BUILDERS MERCHANTS will continue their club sponsorship into the 2021/22 season. LORDS will be the club’s MAIN SPONSOR. LORDS sponsorship will encompass branding all the First Team Playing Kit, the club Polo Shirts, Tracksuit and Managers clothing and a new away kit. Be aware of your own personal health. If you show any of the Covid-19 symptoms you must stay at home, inform NHS Test and Trace and seek medical advice. Be responsible. Read the guidance provided by The FA and by your club so that you are aware of the changes to the game and what is expected of you. This will include things like being prepared to wash your own kit, bringing your own labelled water bottle and being aware of changes to meet-up times. Practise good hygiene. Wash your hands regularly and before, during and after a game. Where possible maintain social distancing. This won’t always be possible in a competitive match environment (for example when tackling an opponent) and that is acceptable. However, before, and after a game you should maintain social distancing. Use the extra dugout chairs for social distancing Support NHS Test and Trace. You’re likely to be asked to provide your details so that in the event of a Covid-19 outbreak those potentially infected can be traced. This is to everyone’s benefit so please co-operate. Do not spit. Spitting and the rinsing out of mouths is now a recognised risk to health and must not be done. Avoid shouting or raising your voice if face to face with other players. After the game. Be aware that other users may be waiting to use the facilities. Changing rooms and showers are likely to be closed and any socialising must follow the Government’s guidance on social distancing.
