Oral Health Recognized at the UN High-Level Meeting on Non Communicable Diseases The Fourth High-level Meeting of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs) and the Promotion of Mental Health and Well-being (HLM4) took place on Thursday, 25 September 2025, in New York, USA. Following more than a year of preparation, planning, and advocacy, FDI participated in this pivotal meeting to strengthen political commitment to the global oral health agenda.

• 150 million more people with controlled hypertension, and • 150 million more people with access to mental health care. Additionally, the Political Declaration called for stronger regulatory measures on e-cigarettes and novel tobacco products, restrictions on the marketing of unhealthy foods to children, the implementation of front-of-pack nutrition labelling, and the elimination of industrially produced trans fats. Mental health was addressed extensively throughout the Declaration, along with reinforced commitments to ensuring access to affordable medicines and technologies, as well as improving financial protection.

In the lead-up to HLM4, UN Member States engaged in extensive negotiations to develop a new Political Declaration on the prevention and control of NCDs and the promotion of mental health and well-being. This Declaration sets out a renewed framework to accelerate global action on NCD prevention and control, as well as on the However, the final version of the Political promotion of mental health and well-being from Declaration fell short of expectations in several 2025 onwards. areas. Fiber Posts: A 1990s Legacy with Sustained Success in the Biomimetic Era in an integrated approach, largely associated with the development of biomimetic dentistry. Biomimetic dentistry is not an independent specialty but rather the reasoned clinical application of biological, mechanical, and dental principles aimed at reproducing the natural behavior of dental structure [3]. Contemporary dentistry is oriented toward minimally invasive procedures directed at maximum preservation of dental structure. In this context, it is indispensable to understand the mechanical and biological behavior of both the tissues and the biomaterials employed, integrating concepts that were originally isolated [4,5,6,7]. At the end of the 1980s, RTD introduced an innovative change, replacing the cast metal post with a structure whose mechanical properties were similar to dentin.

Matías Ezequiel Scazzola, DDS. This transition marked a turning point toward Full Professor, Department of Endodontics biomimetic thinking, evaluating how materials interact I and II, School of Dentistry, Universidad del with functional forces within the root canal. Salvador, Buenos Aires, Argentina Clinical Considerations In recent years, the use of posts in the posterior region has been debated. Current evidence indicates that, in this region, their main function is to increase the adhesive surface. The posterior occlusal forces

Introduction For nearly four decades, fiber posts have been an essential component of the therapeutic arsenal in dentistry, representing a resource of daily necessity in clinical practice. These devices are included within the category of fiberreinforced composites (FRCs), the composites being the biomaterials with the greatest clinical applicability in dentistry, especially particulate filled composites (PFCs) [1,2]. A clinical practitioner cannot overlook them, as their use is indispensable in contemporary restorations. RTD was a pioneer in the development of fiber posts, establishing a widely recognized reference standard. Its quality and trajectory have consolidated its position as the “Gold Standard”. For a long time, restorative dentistry and endodontics remained

of direct, semi-direct, or indirect techniques. In contrast, in the anterior sector, where dental volume is smaller, esthetic demands are higher, and forces are pre-dominantly oblique, post placement is usually necessary. If a minimal dental remnant (ferrule effect) ex-ists, force distribution and connection are favored; in its absence, the incorporation of an element that generates connection is essential [8,9]. Premolars constitute an intermediate group requiring individualized analysis. Their structural volume is intermediate between anterior and posterior teeth, and their clinical management depends on their specific function within the arch, particularly their relationship with canine guidance. Several studies, including systematic reviews with recent meta-analyses, have confirmed that fiber posts Quarter I - 2026 Quarter I - 2026

complementary:

contemporary biomimetic guidelines can be respected while maintaining, when indicated, the use of fiber posts as an integral part of the restoration. The preservation of remaining coronal structure is critical to ensure predictable adhesion [4,5,6,7,11,12]. Deep interventions within the root canal reduce adhesive quality due to factors such as lower tubular density, alteration of the collagen matrix, and limitations in light curing [11,12]. These aspects compromise the formation of a true adhesive monoblock. The most common failures associated with the use of fiber posts include debonding (frequently related to inadequate adhesive and/or cementation procedures) and post fracture. The latter, when it occurs in the middle or apical third, represents a non-repairable fracture and is classified as catastrophic failure, leading to the inevitable loss of the tooth [13,14]. endodontics—exemplified by the appearance of new endomotors, ro-tary and reciprocating file systems, thermal treatments, surface modifications, and variations in cross-section—has allowed the standardization of root canal shaping. This advance generates spaces with more predictable taper and diameter, which in turn favors the subsequent adaptation of fiber posts [15]. Moreover, thanks to this technological evolution, mechanized endodontics has been almost universally incorporated into clinical practice, in beginners and experienced, currently employed by the vast majority of practitioners in their endodontic treatments. In conclusion, clinical success in the rehabilitation of endodontically treated teeth depends on the integration of principles from restorative dentistry, endodontics, and biomimetic dentistry, an approach that in international literature is referred to as the Endodontic Restorative Process (Endo Resto). Exocad DentalCAD 3.3 Chemnitz release Friedemann Stang is supervisor of global customer support at exocad. His tip for an easy transition to the improved DentalCAD Implant Module: The best way to learn a new software design is by applying it to real lab cases with actual challenges. If a lab day is a bit quieter, I recommend selecting a real, completed case and running it through the new workflow steps.

To help users find the appropriate components for an implant system more quickly and efficiently, exocad has enhanced the selection function to include search and filter options. When you click on your chosen implant in the implant component selection, you automatically see the components available for that implant system (Fig. 2). To speed up the search for the right components, users now have three options: the new search function, advanced filter functions, and setting favorites.

• Search: The new search field allows users to quickly locate the component they need for their individual abutment design. Search options include, for example, implant and component individual abutments manufacturer, product name, or component article exocad, an Align Technology, Inc. company, has number (Fig. 3). enhanced its Implant Module with the DentalCAD • Filters: Users can also narrow the component 3.3 Chemnitz release. While the program is still in the planning stages, the College anticipates that the DScDent program would appeal to international dental school faculty and those who aspire to become faculty. International students may be attracted to our DScDent program because of its relatively short duration and because it could be efficiently combined with specialty or other clinical programs via separate degree tracks. The CAD/CAM Digital & Oral Facial Aesthetics 2025 congress concluded on November 15 at Dubai’s Madinat Jumeirah Arena & Conference Centre, bringing to a close two days dedicated to the latest breakthroughs shaping the future of digital dentistry. The event also marked a significant milestone for CAPP, celebrating 20 years since the organization staged its first CAD/ CAM congress in 2005. Over the course of the meeting, dental professionals, global thought leaders, VIPs, clinic owners, government representatives, and industry decision-makers from more than 100 countries gathered for what proved to be one of the sector’s most internationally diverse forums. Scale, Scope, and Scientific Reach Spanning over more than 5,050 square meters, the congress featured 231 exhibitors showcasing nextgeneration technologies alongside a robust scientific program led by 104 international speakers. A total of 202

scientific sessions were delivered, offering participants the opportunity to earn up to 35 CME credits through symposia, hands-on workshops, free trainings, seminars, roundtable discussions, poster presentations, and live technology demonstrations. The program reflected the increasingly multidisciplinary nature of modern dentistry. Core symposia addressed Clinical Endodontics, Implantology, Digital Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Dental Technology, Artificial Intelligence applications, and the growing focus on whole-body health. These exchanges underscored how digital innovation continues to redefine both clinical workflows and patient outcomes worldwide. Each day opened with keynote sessions focused on digital workflows and advances in CAD/CAM technology, followed by parallel tracks covering 3D printing—particularly DLP and SLA technologies—and ortho-restorative dentistry. Afternoons transitioned into live demonstrations, clinical case presentations, and dedicated technician forums, with the exhibition and hands-on learning zones remaining active throughout. The program concluded with networking sessions and formal closing ceremonies, reinforcing collaboration across disciplines and regions. A Gala Celebrating Excellence A highlight of the congress was the Grand Gala Awards Ceremony, which commemorated two decades of CAPP leadership under the vision of Founder and CEO Dr. Dobrina Mollova. The evening honored outstanding achievements in Aesthetic Dentistry, recognizing pioneers and innovators who continue to push clinical and technological boundaries across the MENA region and internationally. Now firmly established as a benchmark of professional distinction, the Aesthetic Dentistry MENA Awards celebrated excellence, innovation, and influence in a field that continues to raise its standards year after year. Building on the legacy of previous editions, the 2025 awards reaffirmed CAPP’s long-standing commitment to recognizing transformative ideas and achievements that shape the future of dental practice—making the anniversary celebration both a reflection on progress and a statement of ambition for the years ahead. Choice™ 2 Veneer Cement Choice 2 is a light-cured luting cement designed specifically for cementation of porcelain, zirconia, and composite veneers. Choice 2 exhibits color stability which is a critical factor in esthetic veneer cementation. A range of VITA®* shades as well as chromatic shades are available allowing for flexibility to achieve high esthetics. Corresponding try-in pastes (sold separately) are available for facilitating shade selection prior to final cementation. Choice 2 is compatible with all dental materials, however when coupled with BISCO All-Bond Universal or All-Bond 3, Uni-Etch Phosphoric Acid Etchant with BAC, Porcelain Etchant, and Bis-Silane it is the ultimate product combination for veneer cementation. The Choice 2 Kit is comprehensive, easy to use, and helps simplify product selection and veneer cementation procedures.

Quantium™ Universal Composite Quantium is a light-cured, radiopaque universal dental composite. Quantium combines superior levels of handling and placement ability with exceptional strength to create highly functional and esthetically appealing composite restorations in both the anterior and posterior. At BISCO, we set out to create a composite that balances strength, handling, and esthetics. Drawing inspiration from quantum mechanics, a field that explores the smallest building blocks of our universe with precision, we sought to innovate in the same way. A quantum leap signifies a significant advancement, much like the innovation behind our new composite. We needed a name that reflected both the science and its impact, and that’s how Quantium was born—a name inspired by quantum science and the art of restorative dentistry. Quantium integrates advanced filler and resin technology that will empower clinicians to create durable, seamless restorations. Quantium isn’t just a new composite; it’s a leap forward in restorative dentistry.

Maintaining pulp vitality in daily practice – biocompatible and monomer-free A biocompatible, stable and bacteria-tight pulp seal is essential to preserve the vitality of the pulp. With MTA vpt, VOCO offers a Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA) material that has been specially designed for this purpose. Within the scope of Vital Pulp Therapy (VPT), MTA vpt can be used for cavity lining, indirect and direct pulp capping as well as for the treatment of the pulp following vital amputation (partial or complete pulpotomy). As part of caries lesion management, residual carious dentine can also be reliably sealed with MTA vpt. MTA vpt releases calcium and hydroxide ions during the setting phase, which stimulate the body›s own regeneration processes and the formation of tertiary dentine. The resulting high pH is known for its bacteriostatic effect and supports remineralisation. In this way, MTA vpt creates a stable and bacteria-tight protective barrier – the optimum basis for maintaining the vitality of the pulp. • MTA for everyday clinical practice – biocompatible, free of monomers • High pH value (12) – known for its bacteriostatic effect • Release of calcium and hydroxide ions – promotes formation of tertiary dentine and remineralisation • Reliable pulp protection – mineralises to form a bacteria-proof seal • Time-efficient – immediate further processing thanks to layering without pressure • Easy handling – application with standard instruments, or directly from the capsule • No product-related discolouration – free of bismuth oxide and ferrous compounds • Radiopaque (290 % Al)
