Together, the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund and Wolfson Children’s Hospital are helping families tackle childhood cancer. The Jay Fund helps children like Brayden and their families focus on their fight against childhood cancer by taking away some of the burdens that come with the diagnosis. From paying household bills to financial planning, from making a child’s life brighter through playing games in Evan’s Teen Room at Wolfson Children’s Hospital to organizing special visits, the Jay Fund is there for our patients and their families. WELCOME Thank you for joining us this evening for our 27th annual Celebrity Golf Classic. This tournament is the foundation on which the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund was built back in 1996. We are so grateful you’re able to be here tonight to help us raise money for our local patients and their families facing the unthinkable. Your continuous support allows us to BE THERE for families so they can BE THERE for their sick child. When a child is diagnosed with cancer, the whole family is impacted. The Tom Coughlin Jay Fund provides financial, emotional, and practical support for the whole family moms, dads, caregivers, siblings, and the patients. From keeping a roof over the family’s head, to parents’ nights out, to “time outs” from cancer for the patients, to sibling support, the Jay Fund promises to BE THERE. But we never would have been able to do any of our work without you. Since our foundation’s inception and because of you, we have distributed over $16 million and touched the lives of over 5,000 families. YOU are the MVP helping tackle childhood cancer. JAY MCGILLIS The Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation was founded in 1996 in honor of Jay McGillis, a player of Coach Coughlin’s from his time at Boston College. McGillis was a team player and strong-side safety in the early 1990s. The red-headed kid impressed Coach Coughlin with his work ethic and intense play. It was during a game against Syracuse in 1991 that McGillis felt something was wrong. What was originally thought to be a case of mononucleosis would end up diagnosed as Leukemia. Jay McGillis passed away on July 3, 1992, he was 22. Jay left behind his parents, John and Pat, and five siblings. In the eight months between Jay’s diagnosis and the day he lost his battle with cancer, the Coughlin family saw firsthand the physical, emotional, and financial strains the illness caused the McGillis family. After going through the tragic events with Jay’s family, Coach Coughlin vowed that if he ever had the chance, he would create a way to help families with children tackling cancer. In 1996, that opportunity arose after being named the first head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars expansion team, and Coach Coughlin started the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation. Beginning as a golf tournament, the Jay Fund has evolved in size and scope helping thousands of families in Northeast Florida and the New York/New Jersey Metropolitan area who are facing the unthinkable. Since the founding of the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund, Jay’s family has been actively engaged in the work of the Jay Fund and has attended every Celebrity Golf Classic since 1996. Jay’s brother, Mike McGillis, serves on the Jay Fund Advisory Board. As the years pass, the McGillis family continues to inspire the efforts of the foundation.

Many families exhaust their savings due to medical costs associated with cancer. PATIENT ART The Celebrity Golf Classic auction showcases artwork painted by patients who are being treated for childhood cancer. Art is an outlet for their creativity during a time when they are frightened and sick. But as the pieces reflect, they are able to find hope and joy in creating them. The Jay Fund supports the goal is to make time in the clinic and hospital more positive and to improve the overall experience.

Bentley, Age 11 “SHARK BITES” Bentley is 11 years old and in the sixth grade. He was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, a blood cancer, last year. His favorite activities are soccer, mini golf, and fishing. He loves to play video games and Uno. When he grows up, he wants to either be a YouTuber or a chef. Bentley created the “Shark Bites” platter because it is perfect for anyone who loves sharks as much as he does!

Emma, Age 11 “ P R E T T Y P I N K PA N D A” P L AT T E R Emma is in fifth grade and was diagnosed with bone cancer in her left leg last April. Emma loves painting, drawing, making new friends, and reading Harry Potter. When she grows up, she wants to be a counselor for kids with cancer because she knows what it is like to go through cancer and it is NOT fun. She is very excited to turn 12 and ring the end of treatment bell to let people know she is finished with cancer. Emma says her “Pretty Pink Panda” pottery was inspired by her uncle who loved pandas.

Mila, Age 9 T H E “ P U R F E C T ” P L AT T E R Mila recently turned 9 and is currently being treated for osteosarcoma, a bone cancer. Mila has two pets: a bearded dragon and a dog! Her favorite activities are art, chorus, and soccer. When she grows up, Mila wants to be a songwriter. Mila says she’s really excited to finish treatment and play soccer again. She made the “The PURfect Platter” because she loves cats and they are her favorite animal.
