At 17, Noblesville High School junior Joey Beahrs is preparing for what he hopes will be one of the most impactful projects of his life. This winter, he will launch his campaign for Blood Cancer United’s Student Visionaries of the Year, a competitive, seven-week fundraising effort benefiting the organization formerly known as the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. For Joey, the mission isn’t abstract but rather deeply personal. When Joey was just 10 years old, and in fourth grade, a small lump on his shoulder turned out to be Hodgkin’s lymphoma. What began as a routine doctor visit quickly led to biopsies, a diagnosis, and a grueling months-long battle that included both chemotherapy and radiation. “They tested some skin from it and found out it was cancer,” he says. His treatment required outpatient chemotherapy four to five days a week for several hours at a time, stretching across multiple rounds. Games and movies eased the monotony and discomfort of long hospital days. Joey says anything helped to pass the hours while sitting through the treatments. After chemo, he traveled to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital daily for two weeks of radiation to finish treatment. Today, he is healthy, active, and grateful. But he hasn’t forgotten what that time was like, nor the impact it had on his family. The Beahrs family responded to Joey’s diagnosis

Now, Joey is stepping up to carry the torch. As he gears up for his 2025 campaign, Joey is building a team, securing sponsorships, and preparing for the official fundraising window, which runs from January through early March. His current goal? $100,000. An ambitious target that can fund vital research and support services. He admits it may shift as the campaign develops, but every dollar brings us closer to breakthroughs in childhood cancer treatment.

The city of Noblesville has experienced steady growth in recent years, thanks to the addition of jobs in manufacturing, health care and technology; a strong STEM curriculum in schools with the achievement of placing in the top 1% nationally, and highly rated attractions like Ruoff Music Center, Hamilton Town Center, Potter’s Bridge and a historic downtown square. Perhaps the biggest challenge in response to the city’s expansion has been finding a way to reduce downtown traffic backups, something Noblesville Mayor Chris Jensen is pleased to finish in 2025.

roundabout at State Road 32 and Hague was added, and new pedestrian tunnels were installed under State Road 32 and Pleasant Street, allowing safe crossings for the trails at Midland Trace and Hague Road.

“I think the biggest accomplishment that we are incredibly proud of is the completion of the Pleasant Street project (Reimagine Pleasant Street),” Jensen says. “It was a project that we’ve been working on for 44 years — a major infrastructure upgrade that allows the new east-towest corridor through our community.”

“It’s no secret that east-to-west mobility in Hamilton County has been a challenge for some time,” he adds. “Having the White River in downtown Noblesville makes that even more of a challenge, so to be able to open a new east-to-west gateway, that helps reduce our downtown traffic by about 30%.”

launched just last year. Scheduled for phase one construction early this year, the project aims to create a more modern look while still maintaining its quaint charm with locally owned shops and restaurants. “We’re keeping it historic but also looking at pedestrian safety, on infrastructure upgrades, on quality-of-life investments,” Jensen says. “Our downtown square is designed for vehicle traffic, which made sense over the last several decades, but I think with the investment we’ve made in more livability in downtown, I think it’s important to invest in that pedestrian traffic in downtown — making sure it’s safe for folks to cross travel lanes, making sure there’s more room for outdoor dining and outdoor shopping. We need to go and do some work underground to improve the wastewater piping that is in our downtown.”

“Our public safety officials have been housed in the same building with the same setup since 1992,” Jensen says. “All while our public population and our officer population has exponentially grown in that amount of time, so we’ve talked about a new facility for them and not just for their office space but for them to train and be a world-class facility for our first responders is really important, and we’ll break ground on that project in 2026.”

Fifty-four percent of this year’s city budget will be designated to public safety, Jensen notes. “I’m really proud, that number has continued to increase,” he says. “We’re the first administration to hit that 50% level in our Noblesville administration, and it’s just continued to grow going forward.” The Arena at Innovation Mile opened with a “Boom” in August last year, much to the delight of local basketball enthusiasts. The Arena, a 4,000-capacity multisport venue owned by the city of Noblesville, is home to the new Noblesville Boom, an NBA G League affiliated with the Indiana Pacers. “To attract a new NBA G League to our community playing in Noblesville is a huge deal, and we’re proud of that $93M asset that we have now in the community,” Jensen says. USA Gymnastics will also vault into Innovation Mile with a new training and wellness center and office headquarters. Currently housed in downtown Indianapolis, the proposed center — with construction scheduled to begin this year — will host community outreach events and competitions of all disciplines of gymnastics throughout the year, as well as educational workshops and USA Gymnastics National Team camps.

100 YEARS OF THE MILLERS During the 2025–2026 school year, Noblesville Schools is celebrating 100 Years of the Millers. In 1925, the Noblesville Milling Company offered to purchase athletic uniforms for Noblesville High School in exchange for naming the school’s teams the “Millers.” Before this, NHS teams were known as the “Black and Gold.” While the Noblesville Milling Company is long gone, Noblesville Schools still proudly carries the Millers name.

With continued development at Innovation Mile, Midland Pointe and the Embrace Downtown revitalization project, the Noblesville Economic Development Department is poised to bring exciting and sustainable growth to the city in the new year.

Pointe blends commercial and residential development and features 40,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, residential flats and townhomes, and greenspace initiatives including an event lawn, “The Grove” greenspace, a pond overlook and direct access to the Midland Trace Trail. Another major economic development project planned for 2026 is Noblesville’s Embrace Downtown initiative, which focuses on restoring infrastructure surrounding the historic square and implementing beautification upgrades downtown. The project modernizes streets, updates walkways and improves public spaces while preserving the city’s smalltown feel. “Embrace Downtown is going to be a major revitalization project in 2026, as it is the first infrastructure project in downtown in more than 30 years,” Mayor Jensen says. “It will focus on infrastructure upgrades and pedestrian safety around the downtown square, which directly impacts the economic vibrancy of downtown.” Also in 2026, the corporate headquarters

of Bastian Solutions, a Toyota Advanced Logistics company, will be completed in Noblesville. The state-of-the-art facility will produce industry-leading supply chain automation technologies. As economic growth continues, Noblesville is also addressing the need for expanded housing and infrastructure. New housing developments include the Courtyards at Hazel Dell near Midland Pointe; Gatewood Lakes, a lake-oriented community near 146th Street and Olio Road; and Morse Village, a large mixed-use project near Morse Reservoir. Morse Village is a $250M, 175-acre mixeduse development near Morse Reservoir that will feature 30,000 square feet of commercial space for dining and retail, more than 650 new residences, and more than 30 acres of greenspace, including six miles of trails and sidewalks and a nature preserve.

Infrastructure improvements are essential to sustaining economic growth. In 2026, Noblesville is expected to continue investing in road widening, utility upgrades and transportation improvements to support new development. One of the most notable projects is the widening of Olio Road to four lanes from the roundabout at 146th Street through 156th Street, along with the addition of a new roundabout at 156th Street and Olio Road. The existing two-lane bridge just south of 156th Street will also be replaced with a four-lane bridge. As Noblesville continues to evolve through community growth, mixeduse developments, new businesses, downtown revitalization and infrastructure improvements, the city is moving forward into 2026 with clear intent and promise. Under the leadership of Mayor Jensen and the Noblesville Economic Development Department, there is strong confidence in the city’s continued economic success and long-term sustainability.

For Noblesville’s Parks & Recreation Director Savannah Wines, parks have always played a central role in her family’s life, shaping how she sees both her role and its impact. “I get to look at parks through both a professional lens and a parent’s lens,” she explains. “I see the developmental value, the educational value, and the simple joy they bring to families every day.” Today, she leads a department that offers just about everything for those who love the outdoors: youth sports, summer camps, fitness programs, concerts, golf, trails, playgrounds, nature programs and yearround community celebrations. We will be replacing the deteriorating siding within the next few weeks. We worked with Noblesville Preservation Alliance and our contractors to do our best to preserve the historic charm of the property.” Miller reports that his staff loves the old house. It was a residence until the time he bought it. They enjoy seeing the original heating radiators and feel it is a much cozier space to work in than an office building.

I’m looking forward to seeing the Noblesville Boom! We love taking our kids to all the parks around Noblesville; Finch Creek is one of our favorites. And we’re looking forward to trying some new sledding hills this winter as well.

“I love our team, and I want to make sure they are well taken care of,” he says. “We do activities together such as going to bowling, Topgolf, or attending sporting games. In November, six qualifying staff and I went to the Colts game in Berlin. A big trip is something I’d like to try to do every year. It sounds cheesy, but we feel like a family.”

“Tips that I would give someone who is investigating insurance is to talk to an agent who will explain things to you,” Miller says. “They should be a trusted advisor, not just a salesperson. Make sure you understand the coverage that is being offered to you. Understand you might not need every coverage being offered, but at the same time realize that the cheapest coverage may not suit the needs you have. Many people do not realize how many options they have to choose from when purchasing insurance.”

Miller knows that if his staff feels appreciated, they will want to uphold the culture of his business, which is built on a foundation of seven core standards.
