Museum Visit for Art Class Last week the Level 1 Art class visited Tūhura Otago Museum as part of their study on waka huia. Students took part in a tour, an information session and a drawing task. We were fortunate to see taoka from our region and learn more about the context in which these were carved, gifted and traded. We were able to learn more about how museum staff date taoka, how they use clues to work out where the taoka are from, and how they were used. It was an awesome day and an incredible experience to see the taoka we've studied up close. A big ngā mihi to Gerard, Ash and the staff at Tūhura who supported our students and shared their invaluable knowledge!
Squash a Popular Option
Netball News
Our squash squad has been training on Wednesday and Thursday lunchtimes for a couple of weeks so far. Last Friday, we had our first introductory tournament. The students had an hour of drills and then played some friendly matches. Special thanks to Balclutha Squash for the venue and to Sam and Julie for volunteering their time and expertise. We are looking forward to our first 'real' tournament on the 21st of March.
We are delighted to announce that Saffron Healey (year 11) has been selected for the U15 Te Waipounamu Māori Netball team for 2025! This is an incredible achievement, as competition for places was fierce. We are so proud of Saffron and wish her the best for her upcoming games—ka rawe!
