Moore Park Pump Track

Last year, some fantastic young people came to us at Project Bruce to see if we could help them get some more, awesome cycling facilities into Milton. One of their dreams was a Pump Track (a bit like a BMX track). We have been doing some research and have found the best location for this to be the flat section on the Abercrombie Street side of Moore Park - But we only want to proceed with this project with the blessing of the community! We have already spoken to the residents surrounding the park and the feedback has been overwhelmingly supportive! What will it look like? Something like the picture below. We are talking with an experienced designer from Christchurch who specialises in building these tracks. It will be grass and asphalt, possibly with some easy-care planting to enhance the park and make maintenance easy. Council is happy for us to do our homework and come back to them when we have dotted the i’s and crossed the t’s. Our vision is to add to the existing cycling features at the park, so children (and adults!) can progress from the ministreets, to the flatter track and then onto the bumps. Project Bruce is seeking external funding for this track, so the cost will not lie with the community. We are still in the early stages of this project and we want to make sure we do it right. We are now reaching out to the community for some feedback on this idea. If you have any - please message or email us (either to chat or make a time that suits). Or you can pop into the Tokomairiro Hub if you are passing and we’ll likely be there! Thanks so much for your help, the project Bruce team!
