ANALYSIS
THE VALUE OF EUROPE’S AUDIOVISUAL MARKET IS ESTIMATED AT US$160 BILLION
The latest Key Trends 2026 report from the European Audiovisual Observatory highlights a European audiovisual sector-driven by record film production, growing streaming investment and changing viewing habits, as global platforms continue to expand their influence across the region.
The European Audiovisual Observatory has released its latest Key Trends 2026 report, offering a data-driven snapshot of how the European audiovisual sector is evolving; from the creative workforce and production trends, to changing viewing habits, market dynamics and global competition.
As per the report, the European audiovisual sector generated around €142 billion (US$ 160 billion) in revenues in 2024. Consumer spending - including streaming subscriptions, pay-TV, cinema tickets and home video- accounted for over half of the market (€72 billion - US$ 81 billion), making it the primary engine of growth.
European film production reached a historic peak that year with 2,523 feature films produced across 36 markets, confirming a strong recovery and continued growth since the pandemic. The increase was driven by both fiction and documentary output, while production budgets also continued to rise across much of Europe.
Global streaming platforms are playing a rapidly growing role in financing European productions. Their share of spending on original European content rose from 8% in 2020 to 24% in 2024, reflecting both regulatory incentives and increasing demand for local stories across global markets.
Despite a vibrant industry, Europe accounts for only 12% of revenues among the world’s largest entertainment companies, far behind the United States, which dominates the global market. Meanwhile, major global platforms such as Netflix, YouTube and Meta are now among the leading audiovisual players operating in Europe.
When it comes to viewership, European audiences are spending most of their streaming time watching series rather than films. According to the report, 78% of viewing time on subscription video-on-demand platforms is devoted to TV series, compared with just 22% for films. This highlights how episodic storytelling has become the dominant format in the streaming economy.

SINS & ROSES SECURES A GREEK ADAPTATION
Avery compelling love story, led by a powerful father (Murat Yıldırım) betrayed by the woman he loved and a brave, passionate florist (Cemre Baysel), has been one of the biggest hits of the season in Turkey. With an intimate approach that places relationships at the centre of the narrative, ‘Sins & Roses’ has also become an international success.
“We are very proud to share that ‘Sins & Roses’ has now reached audiences in around 120 countries,” shared Elif Tatoğlu, Sales and Distribution Strategy Director at Kanal D International. “This success once again proves that powerful storytelling and compelling characters can truly travel across borders and cultures.”
The drama has already travelled to many countries, including Romania, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, and Montenegro; now Kanal D International announced another big milestone: the title will be adapted for the Greek market.
‘Sins & Roses’ keeps adding viewers on a week-to-week basis even after 30 episodes. What has kept the series so fresh? ‘Sins & Roses’ has a very rare quality: it keeps evolving. Even after 30 episodes, the story doesn’t rely on repetition. The characters constantly face new dilemmas, and the narrative always finds a way to surprise the audience without losing its emotional core.
What makes it fresh is also the balance between intense drama and strong character dynamics. Viewers are not only following “what happens next,” but they are deeply invested in the choices the characters make. And of course, the cast performances and production quality continue to elevate the series week after week.
What are the latest international news for the title? One of the latest milestones for the series is its adaptation for the Greek market, bringing ‘Sins & Roses’ to Greek audiences through a local remake. This further highlights the universal appeal of the story and the growing international demand for high-quality Turkish drama formats.
The series continues to attract attention from new territories, and we are seeing sustained demand thanks to its consistent performance and growing international fanbase. We believe ‘Sins & Roses’ will remain one of our strongest titles globally, and we are excited to expand its reach even further in the coming period.
Portugal has acquired two important titles like ‘Fatmagül’ and ‘Love Trap’. What can you tell us about this deal and what it means for KDI penetration in Western Europe? Portugal is a highly strategic market for us, and the acquisition of ‘Fatmagül’ and ‘Love Trap’ reflects both the enduring strength of our catalogue and the growing appetite for Turkish drama across Western Europe.
‘Fatmagül’ is already a proven global phenomenon, and its continued demand once again demonstrates how timeless emotion-
ally powerful storytelling can be. At the same time, ‘Love Trap’ represents a more modern and lighter tone, offering a fresh alternative for audiences and broadcasters looking to diversify their programming.
Beyond finished tape sales, we are also seeing increasing interest in remake opportunities for Turkish stories in the region, which further confirms the adaptability and international value of our IP.

Sins & Roses Drama
“Portugal is a highly strategic market for us, and the acquisition of ‘Fatmagül’ and ‘Love Trap’ reflects the enduring strength of our catalogue and the growing appetite for Turkish drama across Western Europe”
This deal is not just about two titles, it is about reinforcing Kanal D International’s long-term presence in Western Europe. We see it as another important step in expanding our footprint, strengthening local partnerships, and continuing to position Turkish drama as a major force in the international content landscape.
What upcoming titles are you adding to your catalogue? We are constantly strengthening our catalogue with new titles that reflect both market demand and Kanal D’s strong storytelling tradition. Our upcoming slate includes dramas with powerful narratives, premium production values, and very strong casts- exactly the kind of emotionally engaging content international buyers are looking for today.
One of the titles we are particularly excited about for the upcoming summer slate is ‘Daha 17’ (‘Torn Apart’), a fresh new drama set in Bodrum that combines youthful energy with deeper family secrets and emotional conflict. While the series follows younger characters and their relationships, it also carries a strong multi-generational dramatic structure, making it appealing to a broad audience both locally and internationally.
What is your evaluation on simulcast and similar kinds of multiple windows experiences in the region? Simulcast and multi-window strategies are becoming in-
creasingly relevant, especially in markets where audiences are consuming content faster than ever. In many regions, viewers want to feel part of the global conversation and access episodes without delay.
That said, each territory is different. Simulcast can be extremely powerful when supported by the right broadcaster, platform, and marketing strategy. It requires strong coordination, fast localization, and a partner that truly understands the value of event television.
For us, it is definitely an area of growth and one we are following very closely with our partners.
KDI’s format sales have been growing steadily. How big do you think this area of business will become during the upcoming years? Format sales are becoming one of the most exciting parts of the business. Broadcasters are increasingly looking for stories that are already proven but can be adapted locally to fit their own audiences. With our extensive library and our experience in delivering long-running, emotionally engaging dramas, we are very well positioned in this space. I believe this area will continue to grow steadily over the next few years. Demand is especially strong in territories that want high-quality scripted content but prefer local production for cultural connection and cost efficiency.
We are currently working on new format opportunities and have ongoing discussions in multiple regions. Our goal is to build long-term format partnerships rather than one-off deals, and we are seeing strong momentum.
How important are international co-productions moving forward? International co-productions will definitely become more important in the coming years, especially as production costs continue to rise globally and broadcasters look for more sustainable financing models. For us, co-production is not only a creative collaboration, but also a strategic financial structure that helps both sides continue investing in and broadcasting high-quality content in a rapidly changing market.
That said, we strongly believe that the essence of Turkish storytelling must be preserved. The emotional depth, strong family dynamics, and character-driven narratives are what make Turkish dramas successful internationally in the first place. A project should first genuinely work for the Turkish audience and perform well in Türkiye before expecting it to travel globally. International success usually starts with strong local success.
How would you describe an ideal partner or business model for KDI to develop an international co-production? For Kanal D International, the ideal co-production partner is a company that understands this balance- respecting the DNA of Turkish drama while also bringing financial strength, strategic market access, distribution capabilities, or complementary creative input to the project. We believe the healthiest co-production models are those built on long-term vision, mutual trust, and aligned interests, where both parties are equally committed to growing the project internationally while protecting its local authenticity.
“We are currently working on new format sales opportunities and have ongoing discussions in multiple regions”
Inter Medya
EXAMPLES OF MODERN TURKISH TV
Italy, Hungary and Romania are among the latest countries to pick up ‘Halef,’ the Turkish drama distributed by Inter Medya that is enjoying success both at home and abroad. Since its debut, Halef has secured sales across multiple territories and has already aired in markets spanning MENA, Central and Eastern Europe, and Latin America.
‘Halef’ stands out as a prime example of modern Turkish television, characterized by its high production quality and original storytelling. The series arrived in Central and Eastern Europe to great success, establishing itself as one of the most-watched Turkish series of the season. Its enormous national and international success has made it one of the most talked-about titles on the market today.
The Most Production-produced drama has remained a viewer favorite on Thursday nights in Turkey, ranking as the mostwatched television series across various demographic groups.
“The series offers a unique blend of cultural heritage, family, love triangles, and deep emotions,” said Beatriz Cea Okan, Vice President and Head of Sales and Acquisitions at Inter Medya. “We believe that the story, set in the historic city of Şanlıurfa, and its exploration of family dynamics will deeply resonate with viewers [all around the world].”
The series -renewed by NOW for a second season- follows the story of Serhat, a doctor who, after secretly marrying the woman he loves, Melek, returns to his hometown, where a family dispute forces him to enter into a second, religious marriage with Yıldız. Serhat, formerly a surgeon and now the heir and Agha, must assume his new role while living under the same roof with both women. In a mansion filled with enemies and hidden truths, not only his leadership but also his love will be put to the ultimate test.
With new sales and strong ratings in Turkey, ‘Halef’ tops Inter Medya’s lineup at this year’s NEM Dubrovnik, where the company is also presenting its microdrama ‘Boardroom to Bedroom.’
İlhan Şen, Aybüke Pusat, and Biran Damla portray the characters in the love triangle that forms the basis of the narrative, and the chemistry between them is one of the series’ strengths.
Beyond its commercial performance, the production has been praised for its cinematography and authentic portrayal of local culture, while also generating strong engagement on social media and expanding its international fanbase.
For those seeking more premium Turkish drama, Inter Medya also offers recent titles such as ‘Eshref Ruya’ and ‘Hearstring,’ as part of an extensive library that also includes films like ‘Portuguese Love’ and ‘Chasing the Wind.’

For those who prefer lighter fare, Inter Medya presents ‘Modern Woman,’ a comedy miniseries about a resilient woman who, at age 35, is striving to achieve her professional and personal goals.
As a company that always dares to innovate, it’s no surprise that Inter Medya also has ex-
perience in vertical content, with productions such as the micro-drama ‘Boardroom to Bedroom’.
With 55 episodes, ‘Boardroom to Bedroom’ is an Inter Medya production starring Burcu Binici and Emre Özmen. The microseries follows Murat, a London-based executive who
returns to Istanbul to take control of the family business, only to be surprised to find that the CEO position is already occupied by Azra. Forced to share the role, their rivalry eventually turns into passion, which is captured by the office security cameras. Together they devise a plan to declare the company bankrupt, while their love blossoms.

RISE STUDIOS AND INTER MEDYA LAUNCH THEIR FIRST CO-PRODUCTION: CAGED LOVE
Following their strategic partnership launched in December, Rise Studios and Inter Medya officially began production on their first joint project, ‘Caged Love’ (‘Tutsak Sevda’), late last month in Turkey. Directed by Canan Çelik, the production features a highly acclaimed cast. Joining leads Eslem Akar and Mert Altınışık are Caner Kurtaran, Faruk Pakiş, Gül Arcan, Aslı Saçar, Hasan Ballıktaş, Berna Üçkaleler, Pelin Orhuner, and others. The screenplay is by Zeynep Küçükerciyes and Ali Göğebakan. The series is being developed for a global multi-platform release, utilizing high-quality production standards to ensure broad international appeal. “’Caged Love’ represents the next chapter in our global co-production strategy,” said Can Okan, founder and CEO of Inter Medya. “By combining our expertise in international production with the strength of Rise Studios, we are working together to honor the
global appeal of Turkish drama through high-quality storytelling. Seeing this story finally come to life on set is a testament to the hard work and shared ambition of both companies.” “This partnership reflects our ambition to support stories that transcend
borders,” added Amanda Turnbull, CEO and founder of Rise Studios. ‘Caged Love’ is a romantic drama that explores identity, sacrifice, and forbidden love. The story follows Deniz, a young woman accused of a crime she did not commit, who assumes the identity of her dying friend to protect her daughter. Upon entering the grand mansion of the powerful Demiricihan family under her new identity (Sevda), she is forced to marry a man (Baran) she should never have loved. Although the family matriarch forces them to marry, they must overcome internal and external conflicts before they can confess their feelings and surrender to their love, overshadowed by the belief that he was the secret lover of Baran’s late brother.

SIC International Distribution
UNIVERSAL STORIES WITH PORTUGUESE FLAIR
By Carolina Mussio cmussio@todotv.tv @carolinamussio
As Portuguese fiction gains visibility across Europe, SIC International Distribution is betting on emotionally resonant stories with global appeal to expand its footprint in the CEE region, and position Portuguese productions alongside major international content.
SIC International Distribution continues to expand the international reach of its catalog, through titles like ‘Vitória’, ‘A Promessa’, and ‘Chapters of Life’, which combine Latin sensibility with a distinctly European aesthetic, making them perfect for the CEE region.
“I believe the identity of Portuguese content for the European market is defined precisely by this unique balance between an emotional narrative, characteristic of Latin sensibility, and a distinctly European contemporary aesthetic”, said Carlota Vieira, Content
Sales Deputy Director at SIC International
Distribution.
“Compared to other international markets, such as Turkey, they tend to be more liberal and modern, even while remaining romantic and following the same traditional narrative style. This allows us to connect more directly with European audiences,” she added.
In this regard, the executive highlighted their focus on “character-driven stories with high production values and universal themes”, which creates a catalog of “emotionally relatable and accessible content, yet aligned with European narrative and visual standards, which facilitates its international distribution.”
A perfect example of how a local story can resonate globally is ‘Azul’, a co-production between Portugal and Iceland, which addresses globally relevant issues, such as sustainability, diversity, and inclusion. “We successfully connected the marine world, from the Azores to Iceland, with stunning visuals that have already led to our first sales in Macau and Mongolia,” she explained.
‘Azul’ is just one of many titles, such as ‘Vitória’ or ‘A Promessa’, which are positioned as SIC’s main bets for the European market. “In terms of adaptation and international expansion, they stand out especially for being

adaptations of existing formats and based on a proven narrative structure. They are solid stories with great potential for reinterpretation in different cultural contexts, and with this new version, they manage to position themselves within a more Latin American, yet urban, interpretation of a very strong original script”.
“Our focus is on identifying content with strong narrative appeal and universally relevant themes, capable of transcending its original format,” she explained, also highlighting formats that have also been adapted in other countries, such as ‘Lucky Break’ and ‘Wild Land’.
And to further expand the reach of this coveted catalog, SIC has opted for innovative distribution models alongside international platforms such as Disney+ and Prime Video, which “have been fundamental in strengthening the perception and positioning of our productions,” the executive said.
“These collaborations provide not only greater reach but also significant recognition within the global industry. Our presence on leading platforms places our content alongside top-tier international productions, reinforcing the idea that we can compete in terms of narrative and production quality. This has significantly contributed to strengthening both the SIC brand and the profile of Portuguese content in Europe.”
As the next step in its international expansion, SIC is headed to a new edition of NEM Dubrovnik, which represents a unique opportunity to showcase their growing catalog.
“Our main objectives are always to present our latest catalog and identify interested parties for high-quality, character-driven, and internationally focused content. Ultimately, we want to continue positioning SIC as a solid and innovative player within the European audiovisual landscape,” she said.
“For us, NEM represents a key platform for strengthening relationships and expanding our presence in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as for exploring new opportunities in emerging territories. Currently, we have novels in Albania, a title airing in Hungary and Georgia, a local adaptation of one of our titles in Serbia, and we will soon announce our first sale for Croatia. We promise not to stop there,” she concluded.

“Holding the number one spot on Friday nights for 24 consecutive weeks is a reflection of the ‘Deep in Love’ significant cultural and social media impact”
More than 28 episodes into its first season, ‘Deep in Love’ still has over 35% share on Fridays. How has the show evolved while keeping the audience so deeply engaged? ‘Deep in Love’ continues to thrive because of its emotional honesty and the profound connection audiences have built with its characters. Even after 28 episodes, the series consistently delivers authentic twists and emotionally layered character development that keep viewers deeply invested. A major part of this connection also comes from the powerful performances of Ulaş Tuna Astepe, Deniz Baysal, Burak Yörük, and Ava Yaman, whose emotional chemistry and authenticity have resonated strongly with audiences.
Combined with OGM Pictures’ signature storytelling approach, the series has secured remarkable audience loyalty across both linear television and digital platforms. Holding the number one spot on Friday nights for 24 consecutive weeks is not only a ratings achievement, but also a reflection of the show’s significant cultural and social media impact. Looking ahead, we see immense international growth potential for the title. Its universal emotional themes, premium production quality, and gripping narrative continue to attract strong interest from diverse global territories.
‘Six of Us’ has been having a lot of success in CEE and Europe in general. What makes this title so compelling for the region? CEE audiences have a deep-rooted appreciation for emotionally-driven, character-focused storytelling, which perfectly aligns with the DNA of ‘Six of Us’. What begins as the story of six siblings gradually evolves into a powerful emotional journey filled with unexpected plot twists, reminding audiences of the beauty of love and how love can heal, unite, and transform people. A major part of this connection also comes from the performances of Hazal Subaşı and Burak Berkay Akgül, whose chemistry and emotional authenticity have resonated strongly with audiences across the region. Their dynamic brings sincerity and emotional depth to the story, creating a powerful bond with viewers.
What makes the title especially compelling in the region is its balance between emotional intensity and a modern, premium narrative style. Broadcasters today are increasingly looking for stories that feel emotionally accessible while also visually sophisticated and contemporary. ‘Six of Us’ successfully delivers that balance, which is why it continues generating strong interest from both traditional broadcasters and major digital platforms across the region.
Titles like ‘Reborn’ and ‘The Fall of the King’ have also travelled very well in the region. Do you find CEE and the neighbouring regions more receptive to OGM’s premium and innovative dramas with distinct and modern narratives after years of traditional Turkish content? Absolutely. While traditional, large-scale Turkish dramas remain a staple in the region, we are witnessing a rapidly growing demand for more premium, psychologically layered, and visually distinctive storytelling. CEE audiences and buyers are increasingly receptive to narratives driven by deeper character psychology, complex emotional conflicts, and contemporary execution.
Titles like ‘Reborn’ and ‘The Fall of the King’ resonate profoundly because they seamlessly blend intense emotional depth with cinematic quality and a sophisticated visual identity. This evolution aligns perfectly with the creative direction of OGM Pictures and the strategic vision of OGM Universe. Today’s viewers look for stories that are not only emotionally powerful but also modern, conversation-driven, and globally appealing.
OGM PICTURES AND GRUPO GANGA JOIN FORCES
Following the launch of its international division, OGM Pictures has signed a strategic development agreement with Grupo Ganga, one of Spain’s leading production companies, known for its longstanding track record in premium scripted content. The two companies will collaborate on developing premium scripted projects in Turkey
Can you give us a heads-up about any new shows you will be adding to your catalogue in the upcoming months? As OGM Universe continues expanding its premium slate, we are currently working on several new globally positioned dramas that further reflect our focus on emotionally layered storytelling, strong visual identity, and contemporary narratives for international audiences.
At the same time, preparations for the new season of ‘Deep in Love’ are currently underway following the remarkable success of the series both locally and internationally. At OGM Universe, our focus is not only on expanding reach, but also on building longterm value for each title through carefully positioned partnerships and emotionally resonant premium storytelling.

The collaboration will encompass both the adaptation of existing formats from each company’s catalogue and the creation of original content tailored for international audiences.

Seriella’s productions combine world-class cinematic quality with narratives based on universal, inspirational, and moving stories that convey profound values.
Seriella Productions’ international expansion is having a banner year in 2026, with four new projects in various stages of development -‘Ben-Hur,’ ‘The Heir’s Wrath,’ ‘The 7 Marias,’ and ‘Love in Ruins’- and a library of titles with
enormous international appeal thanks to the quality of their cinematography and the strength of their narratives.
“We are seeing growing interest from platforms and broadcasters seeking premium productions with a high volume of episodes, strong potential for viewer loyalty, and the ability to remain relevant within programming and digital consumption,” said Fernanda Namorado, recently appointed commercial director of Seriella Productions.
The executive believes that CEE presents “a significant growth opportunity for premium faith-based content, especially at a time when audiences are seeking stories with purpose, emotion, and universal values. There is a growing demand for productions capable of combining large scale, emotional storytelling, and many hours of content, generating sustained engagement and high
audience retention,” she shares. “This type of content has demonstrated an enormous ability to connect with different generations and platforms.”
Besides the mentioned titles, Seriella has a deep catalogue of emotional and biblical-related content that includes productions such as ‘Pablo: the Apostle,’ ‘The Queen of Persia,’ ‘The Lord and the Handmaid,’ and ‘The Life of Job.’ “These are large-scale premium productions featuring emotional storytelling, high production value, and many hours of content; characteristics that generate strong audience engagement and retention across different platforms and distribution models,” says Namorado.
“Our goal is to establish Seriella as a global leader in premium content that promotes positive values and inspirational entertainment,” shares the executive. “We want to position the brand as an international studio capable of producing compelling stories with cinematic quality, global reach, and a strong emotional connection with audiences.”
“Beyond content, we seek to build a solid brand, recognized for the excellence of its productions, the scope of its works, and its ability to generate consistent results for platforms and broadcasters.”
The Brazilian production company is also looking at international co-productions as a potential new area of business, while still focusing in expanding the reach of their content into new territories, strengthening relationships with platforms, broadcasters, and strategic partners, as well as pursuing new distribution models.
“We aim to establish Seriella as a global leader in premium faith-based content -universal, emotionally powerful stories produced on a large scale- while expanding our position as an international hub for audiovisual production, open to international partnerships and projects,” says Seriella’s new Commercial Director.

MEETING THE DEMAND FOR PREMIUM CONTENT IN EUROPE
Through a catalog of major Spanish productions that continues to gain ground in Central and Eastern Europe, Atresmedia Sales is reinforcing its international strategy by focusing on universal stories, high production values, and the pursuit of innovation in new formats and genres.
Closely linked by their language, history, and cultures, Atresmedia Sales has successfully built strong bridges between Spain, Europe and the Americas, where its successful Spanish productions have been a hit with audiences on both sides of the Atlantic.
By Carolina Mussio cmussio@todotv.tv @carolinamussio
Ismael Ramiro, Sales Manager at Atresmedia Sales
“Our series have strong engagement with a broad target audience, in line with the variety of viewer profiles we find across Europe”
However, the quality and scope of its catalog have allowed it to also reach other parts of the world, strengthening its presence in recent years in markets such as Central and Eastern Europe, where its titles continue to grow in demand and popularity.
“TV channels and streaming platforms in the region highly value titles portraying big stories, produced with the highest quality standards, big budgets, and high production values in service of the narrative”, Ismael Ramiro, Sales Manager at Atresmedia Sales, said to ttv. “Atresmedia is the leading group in the production of this type of Spanish-language content, both for its free-to-air channel protfolio and for the SVOD platform Atresplayer”.
Over the years, the executive explained, IPs such as ‘Grand Hotel’, ‘Velvet’, or ‘The Time in Between’, as well as more recent productions such as ‘The Cook of Castamar’, ‘Beguines’, ‘Between Lands’, or ‘The Maid´s Daughters’, among others, bring together all the elements that make our content aligned with what CEE clients are looking for.
“Our series have strong engagement with a broad target audience, in line with the variety of viewer profiles we find across Europe,” he said.
“Our titles revolve around universal themes such as romance, revenge, betrayal, or family secrets, featured in series such as ‘Dreams of Freedom’ -our leading telenovela in terms of ratings and sales -or ‘The Maid´s Daughters’, a family saga with universal and timeless conflicts, despite being a period drama,” he added.
This variety of productions in its catalog allows Atresmedia Sales to respond to the demand from the different players in the audiovisual industry, who want to offer content to their audiences that differentiates them in a market saturated with options.
“In international markets, and especially across Europe, both linear TV players and VOD platforms are looking to expand and diversify their content offering to remain competitive against global streamers”, the executive explained. “In this context, there is a growing demand for high-quality European content capable of connecting with audiences through high production values and distinctive themes”.
“At Atresmedia, we have developed a production strategy focused precisely on this positioning: Premium content with a unique and distinctive identity. Both original series such as ‘La Nena’ -an adaptation of the third installment of the successful crime trilogy ‘The Gypsy Bride’- or the rom-com ‘What Are You Waiting For?’, as well as local adaptations of international IPs such as ‘Mentiras’, ‘Alba’, ‘Heridas’, ‘Ángela’, and ‘Honor’, reflect this commitment to high-quality local stories with global potential”, he added.
International sales of this type of series reflect the strong appeal Atresmedia’s content has among leading international players. The recently announced deal with Mediaset Italia for the broadcast of the international hit ‘Between Lands’ reflects how Atresmedia series play an essential role in the European content industry.
NEW GENRES. And to delve even deeper into new formats and different types of con-
tent, the group has recently been investing in new production lines, including verticals and true crime.
“As part of the content diversification strategy of international players, there is growing interest in fresh narratives and non-conventional genres capable of attracting new audiences”, he said. “In this context, True Crime docuseries continue to consolidate their position as a global trend, with increasing demand for local stories with international potential”.
One example is ‘The Predator of Seville’, an international success on Netflix since its release. Likewise, Atresmedia is also committing to True Crime cases, adapting them into Scripted projects such as ‘33 Days’, the first Scripted series created by journalist Carles Porta.
“Atresmedia has also been a pioneer in terms of short-form formats and storytelling over the years, starting with projects such as ‘People Talking’, nominated for an International Emmy; and developing a strong commitment to vertical content, with the success of ‘Xmas Girlfriend’. This was the first vertical series produced by Atresmedia, and its strong performance has boosted the development of new vertical Scripted projects across different genres, set to premiere soon”, he explained.
With this variety of genres and commitment to production quality, it’s easy to see why the Series Atresmedia label is recognized globally.
“When it comes to standing out within the wide range of content produced in Europe, it is important to highlight that the “Series Atresmedia” label represents a guarantee of success and a trusted value for international partners”, he noted. “Series such as ‘Money Heist’, ‘Grand Hotel’, ‘Velvet’, ‘Veneno’, ‘The Cook of Castamar’, ‘Between Lands’, ‘Ángela’, ‘Losing Judgement’ or ‘Love You to Death’, among others, are part of the global journey of Spanish-language productions.”
As the next step in its international journey, Atresmedia Sales will be present at a new edition of NEM Dubrovnik, where it will present a catalog of major productions, led by the series ‘33 Days’, ‘The Girl’, ‘Between Lands’, ‘Dreams of Freedom’ and ‘The Maid’s Daughters’.
The main objective for NEM 2026 is to continue expanding our presence in CEE, strengthening our partnerships with local and pan-regional players in the region, as well as identifying new partners to further expand the reach of Atresmedia content through ready-made content and format sales across Scripted, Factual, and Entertainment,” he concluded.
