My name is Taylor Hartman, and I am a Fourth-year Interior Design student in the College of Environmental Sciences at the University of Alabama. I am passionate about creating functional, aesthetically pleasing spaces that positively impact daily life. My early experiences flipping houses with my parents and experimenting with design in my own room sparked a deep interest in interior design and inspired me to pursue it as a career. Over the past four years, my studies in architecture and design have strengthened my problem-solving abilities and refined my attention to detail, allowing me to approach each project with a focus on both creativity and practicality. My goal is to collaborate with clients to understand their vision and deliver thoughtful, innovative designs that bring that vision to life.

RESIDENTIAL DESIGN

BEACH FRONT CONDO 01.

Project Description:

This residential design project is located on Madeira Beach, Florida, and spans 1,826 square feet with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Starting from a blank canvas, every detail of the space was thoughtfully selected to transform this condo into a serene, coastal-inspired retreat designed for Airbnb guests.

The design focuses on creating a welcoming, beachy atmosphere by incorporating natural wood finishes, a soothing palette of blues and soft beiges, and elegant gold accents throughout. The result is a harmonious blend of style and comfort that evokes the charm of a coastal home while offering a relaxing, memorable experience for visitors.

Soft tans, clean whites, and a calming blend of blues combine to create a classy and tranquil haven in this coastal condo, which epitomizes seaside elegance. The design inspires a sense of effortless luxury and leisure, drawing inspiration from the natural beauty of the sky, sea, and sand. A harmonious mix between comfort and sophistication is achieved by bringing the seaside lifestyle indoors with natural textures, organic materials, and subtle nautical touches. Every element of this house captures the peace and serenity of living by the sea making it a timeless haven

Before

The concept of the master bedroom draws inspiration from the calming essence of the ocean, creating a serene and rejuvenating space. Soft hues of blue are layered with sandy beige and crisp white, evoking the gentle rhythm of waves and the warmth of a sunlit shore. Natural textures such as woven fabrics, light wood accents, and airy linens enhance the coastal feel, while subtle decorative elements like sea-glass tones or ocean-inspired artwork tie the look together. The result is a tranquil retreat that mirrors the peaceful, restorative energy of the sea.

CONCEPT

SEA SAFE HOMES 02. RESIDENTIAL DESIGN

This project was completed for Sea Safe Homes, a company specializing in building hurricane-rated homes, with the goal of transforming a technical

CAD plan into a realistic exterior visualization that allows clients to see their future home before construction begins. By carefully interpreting the CAD drawings and collaborating with the design team, every dimension, material, and architectural detail was accurately translated into a detailed 3D model. Realistic textures, natural lighting, and landscaping elements were added to create an engaging and lifelike representation that not only showcased the home’s safety features, such as hurricane-rated windows and reinforced structures, but also gave clients confidence in their design choices. The final render streamlined the decision-making process, reduced potential revisions during construction, and provided Sea Safe Homes with a powerful tool to help clients envision and connect emotionally with their future home.

HOTEL OASIS 03.

COMMERICAL DESIGN

This project focuses on Establishing a luxury hotel in Greece, especially in a location as culturally rich and naturally beautiful as the Peloponnese, is a concept based on timeless design principles and the quest of aesthetic excellence. Balance, proportion, and harmony are some of the aspects that the hotel may carefully use to create a setting that feels both luxurious and welcoming. Superior materials, sophisticated textures, and a tasteful color scheme influenced by the surrounding environment will highlight harmony and rhythm, and well-chosen lighting and room layout will improve atmosphere and coziness. This design philosophy not only improves the visitor experience but also upholds the hotel's reputation as a sophisticated haven that honors the uniqueness and beauty of its Greek surroundings while celebrating an opulent lifestyle.

GNOLIA GROVE HAIR SALON 04

COMMERCIAL DESIGN

Before After

For the Magnolia Grove project, I worked within strict historic-preservation constraints, maintaining the existing building shell exactly as it stands while designing functional updates that respected the structure’s integrity. As the compiler for the beginning of the project, I ensured that everyone on the team collected accurate measurements, verified site conditions, and kept all documentation consistent so the design and drawings flowed smoothly. I also helped lead the documentation process by visiting the site and measuring the entire house by hand, ensuring precise existing-condition drawings. After evaluating both residential and commercial possibilities, I chose to redesign the structure for commercial use as a boutique-style hair salon. Within the limited area permitted for modification, I added a bathroom and a storage closet to the back porch on each floor, integrating these updates seamlessly into the historic framework. I also explored opportunities for adaptive reuse of select outbuildings without altering their shells. This project strengthened my abilities in preservation-sensitive design, precise site measurement, team coordination, and developing commercial programming within strict regulatory constraints.

Concept

This salon brings together the warmth of Southern charm and the sophistication of timeless design. The space feels inviting and gracious, with soft neutral tones, natural wood and cozy textures that echo classic Southern hospitality. Paired with refined finishes, elegan lighting, and clean, modern details, the environment strikes a perfect balance between rustic warmth and polished style. Clients are welcomed into a boutique-like retreat where comfort meets elegance an atmosphere that feels both effortlessly chic and enduringly beautiful. Every detail is curated to create a salo experience that is personal, calming, and foreve in style.

Dining Room RCP

Dining Room Furniture Plan

Concept Design:

Our design aims to create a nurturing environment where the energy of the future and the wisdom of the past coexist in a senior living facility and childcare facility that blends in well with the surrounding landscape. While indoor gardens, water features, and sensory pathways promote connection and engagement, natural light and soft, earthy tones provide warmth. By embracing the natural cycles, this setting promotes physical, mental, and emotional well-being and guarantees that all people, young and old, experience delight, comfort, and belonging.

Description:

The idea for this RCP that is shown goes along with the concept Nature. Nature is known to calm people and make them feel more relaxed. With this dining experience we want to the residence a place to eat where they can feel calm and not overwelled in this atmosphere.
