Goats and Gardening at the th Sam Rayburn House on March 15 07/02/19

Join us at the Sam Rayburn House State Historic Site on March 15th from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. for an afternoon of goat and gardening activities. Just in time for Spring Break, this event is perfect for families and children of all ages! We will have two goat milking demonstrations from a local farmer, and Cypress Lake Ranch will provide two demonstrations about making goat milk soap. The Bonham Public Library will also be joining us to give out gardening advice! Once you’ve gotten your goat and
garden knowledge up to date, stroll around our site to play some games, plant and take a seed to begin your own garden at home, and make your own butter! Our historic outbuildings, including our garage and barn, hold their own special surprises that you won’t want to miss. This free event is a perfect way to spend an afternoon and welcome the Spring season. We are offering tours of the Rayburn House on the hour from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. during this event. For a tour of Sam Rayburn’s historic home, adults are $4.00 while

The Tools That Built Bonham – New Exhibit at the Fannin County Museum of History
By Malinda Allison and Katie Morrow In celebration of the 175th anniversary of the City of Bonham, the Fannin County Museum of History has a new exhibit displaying some of the many carpenter tools that the Museum owns. These tools are from the era when tools were not powered by electricity or batteries, but mostly by manpower.

Carpenters and others took great pride and care of their tools, and there were many tools with very specific purposes. Many of the tools incorporated beautiful wood. Drop by the Museum to enjoy this exhibit and the many other interesting things at the Museum. The Museum is located just a few blocks south of the Courthouse Square in Bonham on Main Street and is open Tuesday – Saturday, noon – 4 pm.
