Monday, February 20, 2023, President of BEDCO’s Board of Directors, Alan McDonald first led attendees in an Invocation before calling to order at 5:30 p.m. the Regular Meeting of the Bonham Economic Development Corporation Board. Quorum was established with all members present except for Board Member Wayne Moore. President McDonald then noted that before continuing with the agenda items, he wanted to start by recognizing a grant award for the Fannin County Family Crisis Center in the amount of $6,000. The representative receiving the grant check for the center spoke on the improvements made to the building (F.W. Woolworth Sign and the new black awning) and then spoke how the center helps victims of crime and struggling families by either helping them outright or referring them to the resources that can help them before thanking
BEDCO for the grant. 2. Consideration and possible action to approve the Minutes of the Regular Meeting held on January 16th, 2023: A motion was made by Vice President of the Board, Kelly Royse to approve the minutes with Board Member Glen Taylor seconding the motion which passed unanimously. 3. Consideration and possible action acknowledging the monthly financial reports for January 2023: City of Bonham’s Finance Supervisor Michelle Burnett gave a report
of January’s fiscal 2023 year to date total being 9.5% favorable to the same time frame from the previous fiscal year. She noted it equates to $54,640.00 more in sales tax revenue with the same time frame from the past fiscal year. After some discussion among the board members, a motion was made by Board Member Allen Sanderson to accept the report with Board Member Ernie Quintana seconding the motion which passed unanimously. 4. She noted how it depicts the lake, the multi-generational population of Bonham and the reference to the Texoma Partnership (Sherman, Denison, Gainesville and Bonham.) She also noted a Bonham map that will be made available to interested parties at the tradeshows that will have marketing information on the backside as well as describing an ad that will be appearing in the digital magazine, Expansion Solution. She further mentioned a video that will be filmed on March 23rd, the 617-acre housing development that is moving ahead and a marketing giveaway that is a credit card sized magnifying glass.
