Public Information Notice for Voters
As the upcoming election approaches, I would like to share several important updates to help voters prepare and feel confident when participating in the election process. Polling Location Updates for Election Day For this upcoming election, the county will be combining some polling locations
on Election Day. A complete and updated list of Election Day polling locations has been posted on the official elections website. In addition, an amended Notice of Election has been issued for each political party reflecting these updated polling locations. For convenience, the amended polling locations
are also included in this article for public review. Voters are encouraged to confirm their Election Day polling location ahead of time to ensure a smooth voting experience. Ballot Style Numbering and the Use of Splits Voters may notice a series of numbers printed on their ballot style that looks differ-
ent than in past elections. Ballot styles are generated using a decimal-based numbering system that has long been used to assign the correct districts to voters. This system has existed since precincts were originally numbered and mapped. This election, splits were used within that system. Splits are simply a way to apply the correct combination of districts to each voter and allow the creation of a unique ballot style when needed. The number printed on a voter’s ballot will match the split number shown in their voter registration record, creating a unique ballot based on the voter’s precise location of residence. While splits have not traditionally appeared as a naming convention on ballots in this county, voters may begin seeing them more regularly in the future as the State of Texas continues implementing updates to the voter registration

system, TEAM. The statewide system upgrade that occurred in July 2025 allows for this level of detail, which had not previously been utilized. Party Affidavits and Primary Election Procedures Voters participating in the Primary Election will be asked to select a party and to review and affirm a party-specific Oath of Affiliation. This affidavit states that the voter is declaring affiliation with that party for the purpose of the Primary Election and that they are not eligible to participate in the other party’s primary or convention during this voting year. This language can sound confusing, but it is important to clarify that this does not restrict how a voter may vote in the November General Election. According to the Texas Secretary of State’s Election Advisory No. 2022-11, a voter who participates in a primary election is not required to vote for that party’s candi-
dates in the succeeding general election. Because the Primary Elections are two separate elections that occur on the same day, voters will be prompted at polling locations to complete steps that reflect this distinction. Voters should not be alarmed if they are asked to choose a party or to review an affidavit — these are standard procedures designed to ensure the integrity of each party’s election.
